Hi everyone! I am new to the forums and have obviously never done this before. I am going to Disney World in October and have been keeping an eye on attraction closures in all four parks. I was devastated to see that Splash Mountain will be closed during my trip and also almost a whole month after I go. Does anyone know why they are closing it for such a long time? Almost four months! Thank you all.

Usually the Mountain shuts early in the year. This year I believe work is being done behind which affects its infrastructure. Sadly.

I believe it's for their "annual refurbishment" of Splash, even though that almost always takes place from January-March (which they didn't do this year).
It still boggles me as to why they chose one of the hottest times of the year to refurbish it..

Oh okay that makes sense. I thought they did one last year but I didn't think it was for that long

Its sooooo frustrating to book your Disney trip and make plans that include your most wanted to do ride, only to find out as you near the dates, your favorite attraction is down for refurb. Its such a let down, that hurts even more as you walk by the closed attraction during your park time, knowing youll have to wait for the next year or next several years to do it again. But its like doing a remodeling project in your home, once you start working on things you find more issues that need attention and the length of time gets extensive. Hopefully you have other attractions you will look forward to riding that can take the sting out of the closure.

That's what I was wondering. Orlando is still plenty warm through most of October/November.

They're not. Again, I believe it's for infrastructure works behind the mountain that will impact its operation.

The annual refurb of the attraction should continue to be at the start of the year.

I was really hoping that Splash Mountain would be open because I love Disney water rides. I know Kali River Rapids will be open but it isn't the water ride I would have liked to ride

I guess that is the benefit of living halfway between Disneyland and Walt Disney World. While we might intend on hitting one park for a vacation we always check if our favorite rides are open and if we have to go to the other park instead.
