Sounds weird, right? I'm pretty sure nobody thought Betamax tapes were still being made, especially because of A) losing the format war to VHS and B) the rise of discs and digital. It's kind of ironic since VHS has been out of production for much longer despite being the "winner" of the format war. Who the heck besides professionals has been buying Betamax for the last two and a half decades? Well, the video tape is officially dead as of next March.

"Betamax may be dead, but VHS tapes are still in production. So long live the video cassette tape, the video CD, the DVD and the Blu-ray."

Hardly anything uses the VHS anymore so 0 clue as to why THOSE are still being made.

A lot of professionals used Beta because it was the best option back in the day, and I suppose they've been holding out on switching for all these years.
