In case there was any confusion in regards to the prompt...

Basically, check out the video that Tiki had posted above the prompt. This will set up the "theme" for Project Two. This fictitious Doctor Lasowicz has "reached out" to us to create the next generation of carnival rides based on his initial, innovative designs. To sum it up, we want you guys to create a futuristic carnival ride. :p We'd ideally like the projects submitted as an idea for the fictitious "Centrifuge Brain Project." Just go crazy and sci-fi-ish with it!

Quoting this for reference for everyone since it's such great advice. IAAPA is your best friend when it comes to research this project!

I'd also say that with this project, it might be worth it for us to look into some of the newest technology present in theme parks. Obviously not like the new Pirates technology, but IAAPA was a few months ago. Perhaps we can look to that for a small bit of inspiration.

Also, see my avatar for the traditional tease at the next project.

It's also time to announce the winners of the PoMVP for round one. For Team Cap it was a tough choice between a few people and you all rocked in your own way, but we decided to award the PoMVP to @Brer Oswald for is insanely good Epic Mickey contribution as well as his positive attitude and consistent presence in the brainstorming. For Team Mist we've decided on @Snoopy for his incredible flat rides. Congrats Snoopy and Brer Oswald, this means you CANNOT be nominated for elimination in project two. Also as a reminder, @spacemt354, @DisneyManOne, and @Pionmycake are still in possession of the elusive Diamond PoMVPs which allow them to pull themselves or anyone else off the block at any point before semi-finals.

Season 14, Project Two: The Centrifuge Brain Reborn
Based on the Carnival Ride project from Season Seven: Fans vs. Favorites

"We've had setbacks, but I wouldn't say it was a mistake. The mistake was nature. Gravity was the mistake. We fight the forces that hold us down, and our whole life is an effort to escape from reality."
-Dr. Nick Lasowicz speaking about the mission statement of the original "Centrifuge Brain Project" after the experiment was shuttered in 2003.

This project takes homage from one of the most simplistic concepts we've ever done during a very memorable season...the carnival ride project. That being said, this is a freaking fantastic group of creative minds we have playing here, so @MANEATINGWREATH decided were going to kick it up a notch. My Alfred Pennyworth avatar was meant to tease "Butler Amusements", a carnival ride manufacturer. In this project however, you're going to go above and beyond and push the limits of creativity.

The year is 2017. It's been 14 years since the last ride was developed as part of the underground "Centrifguge Brain Project", an experiment developed by Doctor Nick Lasowicz to test the limits of what carnival rides can do to the human brain, and how they can actually enhance and expand them. What came out of the centrifuge brain experiment were some of the most mind-blowing thrills the world has ever seen. So mind-blowing in fact, that they only ever appeared in a few select traveling carnivals to the public and only rare video footage of them exists to prove their existence.

The project was shut down rather unceremoniously, and Doctor Lasowicz has been a recluse to the scientific community ever since. That being said, Doctor Lasowicz has contacted MEW and I to help in revising his long-shelved projects, and truly pushing the limits. It's been 14 years since the last ride designed as part of the experiment and theme park technology has come a long way since then. With Doctor Lasowicz's resources, the potential is limitless. What are his resources? Well that's very secretive, and up to you to find out via the hints laid out in the documentary. Doctor Lasowicz will not be having any interaction with the teams. This is merely a test to see what a strong group of creative minds can come up with when inspired by his creations.

One last thing...the key to Walt's Vault was passed along to @Pionmycake in cake who has indeed decided to open it. By opening it he has unleashed the Extra Credit twist. Instead of creating one carnival ride for the Centrifuge Brain Project, you'll be creating up to five. Focus on a main ride with the others being considered extra credit. The additional attractions, should you chose to submit them, will be graded on a flat /5 grading scale by MEW and I making the extra credit worth up to 20 additional points to the 50 possible with the usual grading rubric.

And that's all folks. Good luck teams. This project is due Saturday, February 18th at 11:59 PM Eastern/8:59 PM Pacific.

Does theming and/or placement count in this project? Or is this just the ride system itself?

Since it's a tough prompt to begin with, I'll allow you to theme it to whatever you see fit and if it feels more natural, place it within an actual park. Just know it doesn't have to be themed or placed, but the option is available :)

Saturday, February 18th is only two days away! Again, the written results will be posted an hour or two following the deadline... Curse my shift ending around 10:30 p.m. Project Three is one in which I hold near and dear to my heart, so I'll be the one posting the next assignment this time around. ;)

Also... Podcast with @TheOriginalTiki tomorrow between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. The topic? Season 14 thus far, of course! :p

Now is the time that we the judges absolutely hate...nomination announcements. They were announced at the end of the last podcast, but here they are in text form for those unable to view the video right away. Keep in mind all this are difficult choices, and if nominated you can still save yourself by stepping up in the last leg of the prompt and we always reserve the right to change nominations after prompts get handed in based on the strength of individual contributions.

For Team Cap, we've nominated @Angels and Disney's. He's definitely a bit lost on the project and has tried a couple times to pitch stuff but overall has been rather hit or miss on his level of activity when it comes to the brainstorming. Were looking for him to step up with a solid idea and contribution to this project's four extra credit rides.

For Team Mist, we have once again nominated @DisneyManOne. This is by far the most even team in terms of activity on the brainstorming front, so it really just comes down to a matter of DisneyMan having the lowest post count. Once again if DisneyMan wants to use his Diamond PoMVP to pull himself off the block, he's free to do so thus forcing MEW and I to make the impossible call of naming a replacement nominee.

For Team Younger, we've nominated @MCParradox. Parradox does great maps, but he seems to be using that as a bit of a crutch. We haven't seen him in the thick of the brainstorming at all this round and only briefly popping up to assure he's got the maps. Much like Angels, were looking for Parradox to step up with a solid contribution to the team's finished project.

I'm not lost, I've been thinking about it all day. I don't agree with the logic that how much you're active equates to how much you brainstorm, but regardless, expect a part of the project from me. If I'm eliminated, then so be it.

I totally understand where you're coming from, man. Were going to be getting into these situations a lot this season with how stacked the cast is. I absolutely believe you'll be contributing in the finished product and we'll keep an eye out for that. Don't count yourself out. Not by a long shot! :) Nominations are simply meant to spark people into knowing they should have a solid contribution to the project. As time goes on MEW and I will try to finesse the criteria for nominations because I'll be the first to admit it's not a perfect system.

That actually sounds pretty fair. I've been struggling quite a bit this round with ideas, I can't say flat rides are really my thing. I'll have a good think over the next day!

Really appreciate you being so understanding. Obiviously were never going to have fun nominating people, and that's going to be more and more the case as the game goes on, haha. I'm sure you'll come up with something great! :)

Dear Dr. Lasowicz (and whomever else it may concern),

My name is Snoopy, and recently my team members and I have been told by our game hosts @TheOriginalTiki and @MANEATINGWREATH that you had contacted them with a potential collaboration between ourselves and your development laboratories. Having seen your work in the short documentary titled "The Centrifuge Brain Project" I think that I and everyone else on my team was impressed with the groundbreaking work that you and others had done into studying the effects of carnival attractions on the human brain. We understand that you intend to start this research back up again and have requested the three teams to come up with our own projects to see how far we could take the concept. Well, on behalf of myself and the rest of Team Mist, we humbly present our entries for your consideration:

http://teammistchallenge2.weebly.com/

Our classified attraction concepts are filed under the code name "Flat Ride Fun" and for security purposes can only be accessed by certain people (including yourself and this site's members) at the above link. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us either directly or through the team leaders.

Thank you from all of us at Team Mist,

A Beautiful World

Backstory
The year is 2030. Dr Nick Lasowicz has been in hiding for many years, excluding from the amusement park community for his terrorizing designs. With the help of an underground group of engineers and psychologists, Dr. Lasowicz has plans for a cranial enhancement attraction, as he refers to it. Disguised as a standard haunted house ride in any amusement park, the inside of the attraction will bring its riders to the 5th dimension of illusions and sensory overloading effects. It will be cutting edge for surrealist amusement park rides, from the queue to the final scene. Dr. Lasowicz assures that riders will have a newfound purpose in their lives after experiencing the attraction.

Memoirs from Dr. Lasowicz and Dr. Cawley, a psychiatrist specializing in the study of the limbic system.

June 10, 2014

Dr. Lasowicz

How we perceive stimuli and the brain's secondary response to that stimuli, is the core functional foundation of the theory of emotion. The Jame-Lange theory of emotion states that a stimuli results first in physiological arousal, which leads to a secondary response in which the emotion is labeled. These physiological responses result in the cognitive labeling of an emotion. The Cannon-Bard theory of emotion tested the James-Lange theory, hypothesizing that the physiological reaction and feeling an emotion occur at the same time, and not in sequence. Lastly, the Schachter-Singer Theory states that both the stimuli and the labeling of a stimuli based on environment must occur in order for an emotion to be experienced.

These are all chivalrous endeavors, but they are mistakes. Like gravity is a mistake.

December 3, 2017

Dr. Cawley

Experiencing emotion is a cognitive process that can't be broken down in such simplistic terms. The limbic system is a set of structures including the amygdala, thalamus, hypothalamus, hippocampus, fornix, septal nuclei, and parts of the cerebral cortex. Stimulation passes through all of these compartments, externally to internal processing, but what if there were elements that induced psychotrophic effects, that manipulated the mind into seeing things that didn't exist. Forming internal projections on the external reality. By targeting the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, and projection a cerebral concoction into the central nervous system - we may be on the precipice of a visceral neurological breakthrough.

April 27, 2024

Dr. Cawley

32926133605_9375606de4_b.jpg

By targeting the vertebral canal of the spinal cord and the cerebrospinal fluid that encompasses the dorsal root ganglion and nerves of the back, posterior sensorial stimulation can travel up to the brain and induce a sort of dreamlike state, where mental manipulation is plausible. Of course, this is for the good of the experience, as any subject in these situations will be experiencing a euphoric sense of oneness with their surroundings depending on how much dopamine and other neurotransmitters are influenced by this sensory overload. If combined with the proper amount of illusions and tricks, one may think that they are in a parallel universe or another form of reality, the 5th, even 6th, dimension of life.

October 31, 2030

Dr. Lasowicz

The curious case of Phineas Gage, brought to me by Dr. Cawley. In 1848, Phineas Gage was working with a blasting crew, when a terrible accident happened, sending a tamping iron rod through his head. He survived, but close friends and family noticed several behavioral changes with Gage after the accident. The area of the brain affected by the accident, caused a negative reaction - but what if we could cause a positive reaction? Not by sending rods through heads or anything, but sending euphoric signals to change people's perspective on their lives. My engineers have worked closely with Dr. Cawley on this endeavor to bring a newfound amusement attraction to the masses. Of course due to my work with the Centrifuge Brain Project, my reputation is a bit, shall we say, controversial. But I assure the readers, that with the advances in science and technology over the last few decades since my project was shut down in 2003, my comeback and the new age of "attractions" is upon us. With the release of the Motion Effects (MX) 5D experience just last year, our Mystery Maze attraction will be on display for all to see coming soon.

Facade and Attraction Entrance
The entrance to the attraction is a stone gray design with some grass on top, with a foreboding sign that reads, A Beautiful World. The tagline underneath the name to the attraction states: "Clear your mind of all you know, for what's inside will show"

Not your Average Queue

The beginning of the queue takes guests through a room where "wacky mirrors" distort guests bodies. Most are just basic fun house mirrors, which make the guests tall, fat, etc. However, some of these mirrors are actually giant cameras and sscreens, which use technology similar to snap chat, in the way in which they can directly detect and distort individual's faces. Some of these mirrors add Acne, make it look like someone is sneaking up on the individual, or animate the individual falling to the ground dead - scary stuff.

mirror+maze.gif

Mirror mazes are created in triangular paterns

Next, the guests reach a split. Four entrances to a large mirror maze occur here to try and provide the ride with maximum efficiency by allowing people to pass through this as quickly as possible. The mazes release four people into them every twenty seconds per entrance.

There is only one exit to the mega maze which brings guests straight to a dark dock, where the vehicles are ready to be loaded.

Ride-Vehicles and Technology
gm-en-v-06.jpg

After the riders travel through the mirror maze, they board two-seat futuristic dark ride pods, equipped with a neurosensory integration system capable of producing a variety of effects and stimulation throughout the experience. A Beautiful World is intended to immerse the rider in their own reality, and embrace the higher dimensions of cognitive awareness.

In addition to the futuristic ride-vehicle, there are several patented optical and sensory illusions that are present in the attraction, adapting low cost maintenance and simple engineering techniques.

Ride-Map
32855267501_6f5b182fc8_b.jpg

The attraction will travel along a simplistic dark ride path similar to most carnival haunted houses and dark rides. The "uniqueness" of it is less in type of attraction, and more in the technology behind the attraction, taking visual sensory systems to the utmost level of human capacity.

Ride-Through
Leaving the load station, your pod travels off into complete darkness. At first there is silence, but then as you continue on, you hear this low-toned pinging sound, that is continuous and barely noticeable, but enough where it catches your attention. Flickering and flashing lights glow before you and you feel a chill running down your spine, as colored lights permeate throughout the dark room. Sensory visual stimuli swell the dark corners and flow past you in a mesmerizing way. The pinging sound becomes louder and louder, then suddenly, a clash.
stargate%20comp%20display.jpg

All noise is silent and you see two figures standing in opposite corners of what looks to be a regular room, however the figure on the right is significantly larger than the one on the left. All of a sudden the figure on the left moves over to the figure on the right and grows to the larger height, seemingly out of nowhere. The lights go black and you can feel the turn of the dark ride track moving your pod into the next room. A room where there are several props of interest, all of which show duel pictures. A dark toned narration voice tells you "your mind does not always perceive reality, your thoughts are mistakes" Consequently, after the several pictures of illusions including one of a rabbit/duck, among other optical illusion paintings, the vehicle turns sharply to the right and enters a distorted room.
optical-illusions-work_657f528662288519.jpg

Walls are jarring out at the vehicles, doors are crooked, windows are on the ceilings. Several creaking sounds are heard as the vehicle moves through, followed by varied natural sounds. A train whistle almost as if a train is roaring through the scene, unseen. Followed by the rushing of waves crashing into a shoreline. You become disoriented not knowing where you are or what is happening in the attraction. Organ music begins to play at a speedy clip, followed by vibrations of the vehicle, almost as if the vehicle is taking off out of the ride.

In pure darkness, as the organ music continues to play, rain is projected upwards, and there are projections of clouds below you. If then, you look up, you'll see the green grass ground of the earth as you feel as if you're upside-down floating in the sky. The organ music flows into a more symphonic sound, but you can only hear it in one ear, which is a bit odd, and you wonder if something is wrong with the sound system.

Then the booming dark voice from before, returns: "Clear your mind and open your eyes"
07a8ec4df7b0772c20181ecc5b3d12ab026a4bd9.jpg

Surrounding the vehicle now are psychedelic visual stimuli combined with slightly distorted images as well as a cold sensation embedded into the vehicles that sends a physical chill down your spinal cord, which travels up to your brain and induces a sensation of fear and adrenaline with the environment. The combination of Dr. Cawley's psycho-dynamic effects, combined with the surrounding imagery, creates a 1 minute span throughout the remainder of the attraction where the riders have no idea what is happening or where they are. The narrator explains that it is "A Beautiful World" as the clouds drop out from underneath you and the screens to either size give you the sense that you are falling...but falling...up? The distortion of your reality is further elicited when you reach the ground only to find that it is infiltrated by dream-like imagery. Teeth falling out of the sky as raindrops, flying vehicles all around you, and then you're within a speeding tunnel. The tunnel's lights and sounds blast your eyes and ears, you want the attraction to end, but the visual and audio stimuli grasp you away from the attraction experience, triggering your hippocampus to forget the short-term memories you made of the attraction minutes ago. The ride eventually ends as you arrive at the unloading dock, confused and disoriented at the experience you just encountered.

This final illusion is what Dr. Lasowicz had envisioned for his comeback project, and one that will probably get him ostracized from the scientific community once more for the amount of seizures he will produce on his new attraction. But Dr. Lasowicz wanted a neurological experience that went beyond the carnival or amusement park, took the riders out of reality, and made them expand on their cognitive thinking.

Lasowicz states: "Delta brainwave analysis showed that riders had 40% more activity than non-riders. Almost as much delta wave activity as when you are asleep -- showing that, perhaps the ride was all a dream? Maybe it never happened. The amount of stimuli provided in the last few minutes of the attraction make the guests forget any short-term memory before it occurs, creating a moment in time where their minds are open to a higher dimension."

A higher dimension indeed, but maybe one that humanity isn't ready for at this moment in time. We can only wait and see when "A Beautiful Mind" opens in 2030 for riders to experience.

The Lab Mouse Coaster

In laboratories all around the world, lab mice are running through their mazes to fetch cheese, typically to test a behavioral, spatial, or temporal facet of their biology. However, now -- this mouse coaster sets its riders up on a terrifying journey to catch their own "cheese" and make it out of the maze without getting zapped.

--Attraction Statistics--
Excitement - 0.21/10
Intensity - 17.96/10
Nausea - 10.55/10
Max Speed - 58.17 mph
Average Speed - 29.58 mph
Ride Time - 2:30
Ride Length - 3,720
Max + Gs - 7.20g
Max - Gs - -2.74g
Max Lateral Gs - 12.86g
Total Airtime - 0:36 min
Drops - 10
Height - 110 feet

When climbing the 90 degree ascent of the mouse coaster - a sense of fear and adrenline passes through your veins (or maybe that is the mad doctor's hippocampal injection coursing through you), nevertheless you keep climbing. Higher and higher until you reach the peak.

Dropping from the peak you go into a sensory overload of max G-Forces, postive, negative, and lateral Gs -- churning your stomach and erupting your mind into a chaotic blend of confusion and nausea. But the "fun" isn't over. A radical shift in Gs jolts you upwards again at 90 degrees and you keep climbing to a second peak. Eventually the maze comes to an end after a dizzying display of sharp curves, sudden drops, and stops.

The Test Run!

Mean Girls: Regina's Revenge

Being the Queen Bee, Regina needs to plot her revenge after being hit by a bus

With the help of her mom, Regina creates a new insane carnival ride for her high school and everyone who has betrayed her. With the help of Toaster Strudel profits from Gretchen, Regina builds a large scale bus pinball swirling wheel for people to ride.

Every 10 seconds, the busses fly out and shoot up the sky at 60 mph, only to be brought back down to earth and continue spinning.

The ride is based on this carnival ride from the Centrifuge Brain Project. Regina saw the film and got an evil idea in motion.

The Pit of 100 Trials
This attraction based on the area of the same name from Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door will have guests boarding vehicles into a mysterious dungeon of temptation, fear, confusion.
maxresdefault.jpg

The ride is meant to test the quick decision making process of humans, especially when they are under pressure or have to make extreme life choices. Guests start by entering a dungeon like building for a queue. The further they go down, the darker it gets.

The overall physical description of the attraction would be a simple track ride through a warehouse building containing no scenes. The bulk of the ride comes from the "Neuro Reality Helmets" (helmets that access different points of the human brain and create an image of them through VR goggles). The ride vehicle would be a simple in design, seating one person each for the feeling of isolation (although other vehicles would be relatively close). Each vehicle would have two buttons to press, each with a different choice (one would be to give in or face what you encounter, the other would be to run away or resist a temptation).

At the beginning, decisions would be easy for people to make, but as more trials commence, and the repetitive music drags on, people get immersed into the attraction and it starts to feel real. The decisions made will be recorded and given to participants. The ride can last up to 2 hours.

The Dueling Hydra

latest

Themed to a Hydra training facility, this attraction features two of the classic octopus rides interweaving with each other. Eight arms attached to a centra axis spin and move up and down in random, while cars at the end of the arms spin on rotary bolts. Each Octopus ride has the arms attached the middle of the ride. The middle of the ride move with the Hydra symbol.

Height Requirements

Most octopus rides require guests to be at least 42 inches to ride without an adult; smaller children must have an adult with them.

Team Younger presents:

BATTLE BOATS

In 2015, the independent engineering design company, Radiant Design, developed an experimental, high intensity training device for an elite, secretive military agency (I am not legally allowed to say what agency, but it may or may not be S.H.I.E.L.D.). The training device features two, double layered ride vehicle. Each layer had two rows of 10 seats (stadium style so the back row can see over the front row).
images

Both vehicles swing like a pendulum from their respective towers. Their towers are placed on opposite sides of a large disk. The disk rotates spinning the vehicles while they swing like pendulums from their towers.

I'm addition, the towers are able to lean inwards towards the center of the disk or outwards away from the center of the disk.

How is this a military training device? Each seat has its own "cannon." A light cannon (similar to the ones found on Toy Story Mania) that trainees must use to try and hit the other ride vehicle in various "weak points" to simulate a battle.

The ride system was then placed in a cylindrical, domed building and a planetarium style projector placed in the center. The projector would transform the building into various high intensity environments for training such as blizzards, storms, and warzones. The vehicles themselves were equipped with misters and other 4-d effects to complete the illusion of the high intensity environment.

The training device was costly to build, but effective at devloping precision combat skills in dangerous situations. S.H.I.E.L.D. (I mean the mysterious, classified government agency) had to get ride of the device almost immediately though. Why? Agents had too much fun on the training device. They enjoyed the dang thing to much.

-----------

In 2017, Team Younger (made up of former designers from Radiant Design Engineering Group) was approached by Dr. Lasowicz to submit a new ride system for the Centrifguge Brain Project. The training Device was dusted off and updated for this new purpose.

A third tower/ride vehicle was added to increase capacity and challenge. The system was given the name "Battle Boats." New additions were made to the battle system. Each boat has a "health bar." The lower the health bar, the faster the boat pendulum swings as well as the more it will lean inwards or outwards. The more the same "weak point" is hit, the less damage it will do.

The planetarium projector and 4-d effects were presented to the doctor as good theming elements. Possible themes include: Pirates battling in a whirlpool, Viking ships battling in a blizard, rival cuckoo clocks battling to dismantle the other (in this theme, the boats would become clock pendulums), space ships battling around a black hole, etc. The possibilities are endless.
1071p3cmaelstron_907pfinal.jpg

Guests riding would think they are here for a fun theme park experience! In actuality, their responisiveness and precision in extreme environments are being tested and studied.

Lastly, hypnotic, subliminal messages may be added to the planetarium projections for whatever purposes the good doctor may have in mind.

Capacity: 20 per vehicle, 3 vehicles, 60 total
Ride Time: 113.5 seconds (calculated to be the exact amount of time the average park guest could stand without any major nausea)
Movement Types: 3. Swinging vehicles attached to tilting towers attached to a spinning base.
Inspiration: Primarily inspired by the classic swinging ship carnival ride.

The Dynamic Spinner
image-jpeg.190530

This new thrill carnival attraction takes a spin ;-), on the classic spinner attraction. Replacing basic arms such as those found on classic rides such as Dumbo the Flying Elephant with those used in the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey Attraction.
image-jpeg.190531
image-jpeg.190532
Guests will be placed in one of fifteen cabs that seat two. One joystick with the same bend points as the arm will be made, allowing guests to physically manipulate their rollicking ride experience. Limits will be placed on the control to prevent to arm from ramming guests into the ground or loading platform. For carnival transport, The arms fold neatly into the centrifuge.

Anti-Gravity Teacups
anti-gravity-propulsion.jpg

Welcome to the future! The Anti-Gravity teacups take a routine flat ride and turn them into something fun and memorable. Soaring above the ground and floating in the anti-gravity chamber, the teacups spin and swirl around in any direction, so you never know what will happen. They will also be equipped with bumpers on all sides in case the teacups bump into each other. When they do, each teacup flies in opposite directions, creating a chain effect and adding to the intensity. The ride will last 2 minutes and 45 seconds.

Our headliner ride has been programmed as state-of-the-art and as zany as imaginable, taking the Wild Mouse roller coaster concept, and going off-the-walls with it.

The ride is entirely enclosed in a massive projection dome. Inside, it is meant to simulate a circular lab mouse maze where scientists can look upon ongoing experiments. Fellow riders just happen to be those experiments.

After a simple carnival switchback queue, guests board spinning wild mouse carts, set upon a quest to find the cheese. The big catch with this ride is how a supercomputer controls the track movement on this ride.

That's right, your ride experience is entirely determined by a random computer selection. Tracks sense when a car is nearing, and switch to hook up with a separate track.

Depending on the computer and pure luck, riders careen and jostle through a dark, labatory maze, where ride experiences can last from 2 minutes- 2 hours.

This brand new attraction combines the thrill of a drop ride and the calm of a Ferris wheel all into one thrilling attraction. The ride vehicle can seat two people, and goes slowly along a T shaped vertical track and then bops up and down near the end.

A big thanks to all the teams for being so productive and handing in the projects with over an hour to spare. This was definitely a prompt that took some getting used to, but I've watched you all work really hard to get over the difficulties you might have had and I have a feeling were going to be in for some fantastic finished projects.

I'll be reading and scoring the projects over the next hour or so. Unfortunately @MANEATINGWREATH doesn't get off work until 10 PM pacific/1 AM Eastern so it'll most likely be tomorrow morning before most people see the results and the next prompt. It will definitely be up late tonight though. Obviously with most of the cast being in the Eastern time zone it makes late work nights...a bit difficult for the hosts who are both hanging here on the West coast, haha. ;)

I miss the days of midnight Pacific due dates. It was wonderful staying up until 3:00 AM to put the finishing touches on a project at the last minute.

Let's start with Team Mist.

The Dynamic Coaster-Very interesting proposition! I must say at first I was skeptical about how this would be different than a slightly higher grade version of the dreaded Six Flags virtual reality coasters I've heard such GLOWING things about. Having said that, there's several different factors here that make this a lot more complex. I like the idea of the track switching over a somewhat simplistic and off-the-shelf layout. It gives the ride a feel of unpredictability while still being easy to transport. Props to realism for mentioning other large scale traveling coasters. I also love the idea of a base coaster that can be traveled around and themed to a virtually limitless number of things. Took a while for me to truly get it, but I think this is a great concept that definitely does push some boundaries but doing so in a very realistic way.

The Winged Carousel-I love it! Very visually appealing concept and I like how it doesn't really push the limits of G forces like most other carnival rides. This is truly a family experience and a beautiful one at that. I love the imagery of the giant Pegasus wings folding into nothingness as it rotates to the bottom level. That's great! Wish there was some sort of diagram to showcase how the switch would exactly work which is why I'm taking off a half a point for extra credit, but I'm still really impressed and happy with this! 4.5/5 Extra Credit Points!

The Upper Downer-Nice twist on a classic, but this needed a lot more detail about how the physics of it would be accomplished. Feels more like a basic idea than a full blown proposal. For that I'm assigning this 2.5/5 extra credit points.

The Whirlpool-Good, solid idea and melding of two classic water ride concepts. Well thought out, but again I would have liked a bit more detail on the physics. Like how would the extra weight of the logs be factored into getting them to do the toilet bowl maneuvers that are usually performed by light weight inflatable rafts, and what kind of safety features would the logs have to ensure people didn't fall out at the high points of the bowl. Other than some specifics left unsaid, it's still a great idea. 3.5/5 extra credit points!

Gyro Shot-Another Basketbuddy classic! Absolutely love it. You continue to impress us with your game-changing concept art and now full 3D animation! This presentation seriously looks just as legit as anything Six Flags or Cedar Fair would put out announcing one of their new rides. It's a wonderful concept as well. Just realistic enough to work, provides a great sense of physics, easily fits in the "traveling carnival" genre of this project while still breaking new ground. Spectacular job! 5/5 extra credit points!

Creativity: 8/10 Overall some very solid concepts and blending of different genres. Well done!
Detail: 8/10 Again, there's a couple things in terms of realism and physics from a couple of the extra credit additions that I would have liked to have seen expanded, but as far as the main presentation goes it's all very solid.
Realism: 9.5/10 Surprisingly VERY realistic for pretty much everything. Great work here!
Presentation: 9/10 Excellent web site and organization, very professional.
Group Work: 9/10 Team Mist continues to be an incredibly functional unit of people and probably the most even amount of activity from person to person we have on any of the three teams.
Total: 43.5/50
Extra Credit: 14.5/20
Grand Total:
58/70
