Do you have a smart phone?

Just curious, with the ever increasing dependence on technology, it seems that many corporations assume that everyone has a smart phone. Personally I don't have one, and I'm wondering how many others out there share the joys of having a dumb phone.

Me! My phone is dumb, and I like it that way! I don't need all the fancy stuff, and frankly, I don't want to pay for it. But it is getting increasingly harder, because every business does seem to assume everyone has a smart phone.

No smart phone here. Plain old phone with a really cool feature. You see, it has a numerical keypad on it and if you press those numeral keys in a specific, pre-planned sequence, you can use the phone to call and speak to someone in another location. Never carry it into the parks though. Always leave it in the room or car. I don't go to the parks to be on the phone, actually go to get away from the rest of the world. I have a hearty laugh when I see kids with iPads and iphones at MK. Gotta wonder about the parents who would let their kid play crushing candy or whatever it was (yes just saw this a few weeks ago), while at a theme park. So much family interaction opportunity wasted.

I was somewhat of a late adopter (got my first smartphone a little over 3 years ago) and I have found it to be an almost indispensable piece of tech.

Would I die without it? Of course not, but it makes things so much easier. I do not forget dates, doctors appointments, etc, because they are all in my calendar.

Having the internet in your pocket is the closest we will come to being superheroes. When I need a phone number or address it is a couple clicks away. Is that thing a lower price at Sam's?...lets check. What is the wait time on Soarin?...it is right here. Is 50's Prime Time available for lunch?...Why yes it is! Let me book that ADR.

I love my barely functioning, half a working keyboard, screen cover no longer adhering to screen, beat up dinged and dented dumb phone.
I have an iPad mini.... so I can't justify upgrading the phone when I always have this on me. Bigger screen and all.

I have only had mine just under 2 years now. I really do not think I would have one today if my smartphone was not a corporate issued phone. I like the phone and all it does and all the things that I will probably never know it does but to me it is not all that important in my personal life. The one thing it does best is keeps me in contact with work which is both good and bad at times. I did like the last few times I was @ WDW and used my previous phone which was a semi smart phone and it ran the Verizon Disney Magic app and we could see show times, park times and play Disney trivia games as we waited in ride queue's.

I will also note that my wife and daughter both rock dumb phones. Our daughter would like a smart phone, but just cannot do it. I just cannot see $150+ monthly cell bills and then the cost of buying the phones and hoping they don't break them. My wife used to break a phone every six months and I gave her my old work phone which is a Casio G-zone which is waterproof and nearly unbreakable and that thing is like 7 years old now and still going.

Is it sad that my parents and in-laws all have smart phones but my wife and I don't? Personally I don't want to pay for it or the data plan.
I was the same way until I got a Samsung Centura android phone powered by Tracfone pay as you go. I got the phone, case, a year's service, 1200 call minutes, 1200 text minutes and 1200 mb's of data through HSN for 129.00. This will last me a year. I was paying more than that for my non-android phone minutes only. What's great is that at home with wifi or at any hotspot, it doesn't use your mb's. HSN also had triple minutes for life. I am saving tons of money and I have a great little phone. I love having instant access to my email, wdwmagic, and My Disney Experience without having to turn on the computer. It's really cool. I didn't get one before because of the cost of data plans, but with this new all inclusive Tracphone plan, it's not expensive at all. No. I don't work for them. You know how converts are. We want everyone to have or do what we have or are doing.

You know I've been spending too much time on a smartphone when I press space twice after a sentence instead of typing a period It makes my sentences incoherent and hard to read It's a real problem in our modern society
I saw nothing wrong with your post ;)

If my job didn't pay for my iPhone I would not have one.

On related note - I find it annoying that companies assume everyone is on Facebook. I have never been and don't ever plan to be. But I would like that free box of mac and cheese - why do you make me "like" you to get it? Why Kraft?! WHY!!!!

I have an iPhone and love it. I didn't have a laptop or use a desktop for months, because everything I needed was available from my phone as well : )

Work expected me to have a phone that was e-mail capable so I got a Blackberry since it was cheap. This summer I upgraded to a Galaxy 4S and I don't think I would want to go back to an old brick phone. I was going to get the iPhone 5, but the 14 megapixel camera won me over. I just love having easy access to everything right there in my pocket.

Right? I want to get the Nokia Lumia 1020, mostly because of the camera. I mostly use my phone or DSLR for pics, and sometimes, you just dont want to drag out the big one. Are you finding you like the 5's camera?? Im the same way...love having all I need, right there!

I have one, but I only make calls and text messages with it. I'm certain that it does other things, but it's just easier to ignore the rest. Lazy, I guess.

My gf has the iPhone 5 and we compared her pictures to the ones from my Galaxy. My pictures usually come out better. Especially night shots. I took a bunch of photos using Night Shot in Epcot and they came out great without using the flash.

The Nokia is supposed to have even better photo quality, but I don't like the Windows interface. Plus I have a 2 year contract with the Galaxy so its too late now.
