Silly question about WDW transportation

I read on the Disney website that they have buses that go to and from the parks, DTD, and the hotels until one hour after park closing (or until 2 am for DTD). Here's what I'm wondering, though: if we're at DTD late at night enjoying a drink or two, for example, does the last bus leave DTD at 2 am, or is it the kind of thing where the buses stop where ever they are at 2 am, which might mean that guests who are still at bus stops at, say, 1:45, might get stranded? I figure that the hour after park closing is plenty of time to get back to the bus stops, but the whole DTD thing seems a little less clear since the website says DTD is open until 2, which is when the buses stop operating.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Like stated above you will be fine if you stay until 2am. They run until 3am an hour after closing. Disney does not leave people stranded. I have had drivers go out of there way when we ended up somewhere out of the way and late after 1 hour of closing etc. Don't worry! :)

Disney will never leave you stranded. I've ended up at a disney hotel past the time where any of the buses were running and I needed to get to a DTD hotel. A CM took my family and I back to our hotel in a company car.

Oh wow... that's very comforting to hear! Not that I would expect them to do something like that... but very cool nonetheless. Thanks!

When I worked watercraft we didn't shut down until MK was 100% clear. We also would drive families back to their resort in the van if needed. You'll be fine but might not get a ton of smiles by keeping someone past their shift. I didn't mind because you get overtime!

Ok... so they actually check to make sure everything is clear before they shut down for the evening?

To be clear, I would never expect someone to work past their scheduled shift just because I was late leaving the park or something... I was just trying to get a better idea of how late is too late to show up at the bus stops lol.

Thank you for the useful information!

They do actually check! The manager would slowly send boats to dry dock as demand lessened then the last boat would stay at MK until they got the all clear from park ops.

Most people are very courteous but just like back in high school when I worked at a grocery store someone always came in with a minute left to close and did their full weekly shopping and make us all stay.

Trust me, they won't leave you stranded. But try to be nice to the poor CMs and not test that - they'd like to go home too.

I've always wondered if I could hide in a bathroom at MK until WAY after park closing and then wander around the empty park till dawn, hoping they don't turn all the lights off.... But if I'm caught, I bet THAT bans you for life. :(

Wait until you are really really old to do it. Then claim dementia.

Well, considering I'm getting close to retirement....

I have hung around MK after EMH have ended, sitting in front of the castle and no one has dragged me out yet. But the CMs sure looked happy when I finally left at 2:30 AM. I just think it would be cool to wander around the very quiet and empty (and hopefully some lights are left on) park until dawn to see the sunrise. Yes, I know you can do it during Rock Your 24, but imagine if it was just you, Walt and Mickey watching the sunrise over the Castle.... :joyfull:

They've had decades to work on how they clear the parks. They're very good at being thorough in their sweep.

Even if you did find a place to hide and get missed by the sweep, it's not like you'd be able to freely wander around an empty park all night. There are after-hours maintenance and janitorial crews that are waiting backstage at closing time and swarm into the park as soon as the all-clear is given by Operations. They all know each other, so a stranger would quickly be noticed.
