Ride Stoppage/Breakdown Stories

Only ride I have been evacuated on was Splash Mountain. Those boats are pretty tight -- and the process seemed to last forever. Behind-the-scenes was super cool.

On our last trip, we got stuck in Buzz in the room with the volcano. Since I had nothing better to do, I continually fired into the target at the top of the volcano and maxed out the score for my first time ever. (Later that week, rode it again and maxed the score again in a more honest way.)

Same trip, I was on ToT and the car was just about to enter the 2nd shaft when the audio went silent and the lights came on. It was fun to see what it looks like lights-on. It was also fun hearing the others on the ride wonder if this was part of the show or not.

Been pretty darn lucky with this sort of thing. Only time was on H:M for about 10 minutes - no biggie.

Did witness a sort of bad stop though...
Just after exiting E:E, a train got stuck near the top of the lift hill. For one reason or another, we decided to hang around at the ride exit and watch. Took a good 20-25 minutes before CM's eventually shut the ride down and evacuated the people on the train. While it wasn't terribly hot that day, the sun was very bright, so must have been pretty miserable sitting for that amount of time, fairly high up, at an odd angle facing into the sun. Thankfully just witnessed this and wasn't involved in it!

That sounds like so much fun, I'm never that lucky in Buzz, my score abysmal. :D:D:D

I've gotten stuck on rides several times, mostly on the usuals (HM, SSE, etc). But once (I think it was last March) I was stuck on CoP. I don't remember what scene we were on, but near the end the audio sort of cut off and a CM announced that they were experiencing issues and to please be patient with them. My family was in there with a very small group of people who were all more than content to just chill for a bit. We sat for about ten minutes in silence while the animatronics continued to move, with no sound (it was really weird and creepy)! Finally the CM announced that we'd be moving again shortly, and the scene proceeded to replay!! Our whole group laughed a little, but when we did finally progress to the next scene someone started a slow clap that turned into all out applause. It was actually a pretty funny and memorable experience! :)

I was stuck on Peter Pan for about 20 minutes right above the pirate ship where (I think) Wendy is walking the plank. My 3 year old loved it. My mom, who is afraid of heights and HATES that ride was freaking out. I kept telling her that it was only like, 6 feet off the ground but she was literally having a panic attack. LOL Good times.

I had a friend who got stuck on Aerosmith and they turned the lights on and she had to walk down the side of the track. Scariest thing that's ever happened to her.

I once was on Primeval Whirl, and the highest spot, when it suddenly stopped. And we were stuck up there for what seemed like an hour. Eventually CM's came, but they couldn't open the safety railings, so that took them about 15 min to try and do. And we finally got down

About a year ago, when I was riding Dinosaur, we stopped and stayed sitting in the darkness for a while and then all of the lights came on for a few minutes. I've never seen a dark ride illuminated before, except Space Mountain from the TTA. It felt so strange to see so much of the magic of one of my favorite rides revealed.

On a family vacation one year a long time ago with our neighbors who had kids the same age as my brother and I, we got stuck on SM for what was at the least 45 minutes! We were coming up the big hill and the first half of the car (front 3) had made the peak while the 2nd half (back 3) were inclined still coming up. The lights were turned on and they were exiting guests when CM came and told us to get us all off at that spot they'd need the fire department. Seeing as us 5 kids were between 10 and 16 we decided to wait. Since we were so patient we all received FP for all the "mountains" in MK. Very uncomfortable but totally worth it to us at the time and a day we'll always remember!

Ohhh the stories I have from a day at Disney. (Magic Kingdom with EMH)
For some unknown reason (honestly don't know why) there were frequent power surges/outages. So.....
HM: Twice for about 10 mins. No biggie
POTC: Once for 15 mins in the station.
Had to get out of the boat and re-enter. PeopleMover: Stuck for a good 20 mins after entering SM, had to be evacuated
Space Mountain: 10 min delay right before entering light tunnel, lights were on during the ride
Winnie the Pooh: Stuck for at least half hour. Evacuated but ride came on right after we left.
Think that's it.
That was all one day. And at least five times the rides stopped while we were in line for said ride.
But
My worst experience was Small World in DL. Stuck in the Europe ( I think) room for at least 45 mins. Song didn't turn off for 30-35 mins. We were the last boat to get evacuated and my mind had already gone insane.
We only got a measly fast-pass for BTMR, we should've recorded more for the torture of hearing the song over and over. Also the clicking of the dolls was kinda creepy

We get the "loading" stops all the time on HM and SSE, but the most memorable stop was on old test track right at the 18 wheeler. Imagine ten minutes of truck horn blasting at you. Finally, the ride came back and the CM near the end wasn't going to give us fast passes or a free ride. Luckily another CM came to our rescue.

We were about 3 minutes away from getting evac'd out of Dinosaur a couple of weeks ago. My son and I were in the pre-show room went it broke down and they evacuated the place. Had we not stopped at the men's room before going there we would have been on. I was bummed, I really want to get evac'd.

The only time I ever got stopped for any length of time was on the Skyway. It was interesting for about 2 minutes, then I was ready to move on. Not fun.

Being evaced from Splash would be interesting. I wonder how I could time that one right?

POTC: This wasn't a ride stoppage or breakdown per se, but we were once on the ride with two people who (they fessed to this) were each about 500 lbs. CMs stuck them in the last row of seats and thus the trouble began. We bottomed out in the battle scene until a bunch of other boats hit into us and pushed us along, and then we bottomed out again on the burning scene. I seriously thought that we were going to see a CM come through with waders to push us through. We did hit bottom and bump along several other times as well.

Back in the 70's my parents chaperoned grad night for my dad's school. My dad was the major "be on time to go home, don't keep the busses waiting for you..." enforcer. About an hour before leaving, they got stuck on Peter Pan... for over an hour. While they weren't evacuated, CMs eventually ended up manually pushing each boat to the exit.

They were the last two to get to the buses... since he was the punctual police, you can imagine the chop busting they received :)

Most have been minor, normal stoppages. However, the worst was on the Peoplemover. It was 45 minutes before Wishes. We get on, move about 200 feet, and it stops. We can see the loading area still. An elderly lady is on it and paramedics come up. It looks like she is dead. They come around telling everyone to just wait. People next to us tell the CMs their kid needs to pee. 20 more minutes go by, CMs walk bye again, and the family tells them he can't hold it. Well, they have him stand and pee right off the car (over people walking below).

All the CMs had to do is escort us the 200 feet to get off. They eventually do this any way, 45 minutes later, view of Wishes completely blocked, and ruined the night. The CMs were useless in this situation. We stopped at Guest Services and were treated with more respect than the CMs at the ride. They have exit systems in place so you do not have to sit there for more than 15 minutes or so.

Seeing as most of threads on this subject are quite inactive, I thought I might get a new one started.

Here is my contribution, all from the same day at MK last March:

POTC: The ride was stopped for about 10-15 minutes. Our boat was at the section of the ride where Jack Sparrow pops up out of the barrel, and it was bumper to bumper, with the lights on. There had to be at least 4 or 5 CM announcements before the ride restarted.

HM: The ride was stopped for at least 15 min. I had just gotten into my doom buggy, and the buggy in front was just about to go through the initial entryway to the ride. I got to watch the CM troubleshoot the ride issues on the touchscreen at her kiosk, which was interesting.

PM: The shortest stoppage of the day-less than 5 minutes. We were stopped just as the train was leaving the boarding area.

IASW: The absolute last ride I would ever want to stop while I was on it lol. Only about 10 minutes-but felt like at least an hour. Once again, boats were bumper to bumper, right near the end, just before the doorway leading into the room with "goodbye" in the different languages. After hearing that song, over and over, I felt my sanity slowly slipping away, until the boat started moving again...

What does PM mean? Which attraction is it? I tried to figure it out on my own but could come up with any ideas.
