My husband's parents took him and his cousin to Disney World in September, 1976. They stayed in the Contemporary Resort. We found the Check-in Packet that was given to his mother at check-in and I thought you all would find it interesting. I am also going to post the WDW booklet that was given out in another post. Hope you all enjoy this as much as I did.

WOW thank you for this. I love reading retro information. $62 per night - that is expensive even for then haha. I have barely paid $70 per night at sports in present day. But if the contemporary costed that price today, I would spend a month there. Nice find!

Nice find, thanks for posting. I love checking out old Disney stuff. Wonder if Bill Heelscher is still working for Disney?

I'm not sure! I just think it is so much fun to see what everything costs in 1976. Believe me, my husband's parents were not well off and I am sure that $62 dollars a night seemed like a fortune to them.

I know right? It's funny we have 54 days until our visit and we are lucky to be staying at POP Century. We don't have the funds to stay in moderate or deluxe. He wants to stay at the Contemporary because that's where they stayed. I told him he would have to settle for eating breakfast at Chef Mickey's!

I have a co-worker at my job that used to work at WDW in the 70's when she was in high school. She even still has some of the old A-E ticket booklets.
Gonna have to have her bring them into work someday.
Show and tell time!!!!!!

Oh wow - they only accepted "Master Charge", personal checks, cash or traveler's checks for items charged during your stay. That's crazy :)

I caught that too. I got a giggle out of "Master Charge" wording - that is the same thing Dolly Parton says in "9 to 5" lol. I would have loved to experience disney world in the 70s - my family visited and we have pictures (I was not even thought up yet) but there is this old disney world shopping bag that my mom kept from their trip.

I went in '79 when I was 4 but I remember very little. Chasing lizards around our hotel, a terrible storm on the way back from some Shell World(?) gift shop, an awful allergic reaction to having my face painted, and being selected to be in one of the parades at MK - except for this memory it is more like being separated from my mother by complete strangers and made to wear George Washington clothes. So yea, other than chasing lizards, mostly traumatic memories lol.
I just watched 9 to 5 this past weekend - that movie NEVER gets old! I especially appreciate it now that I work in an office. Wow so different back then!!!

60 dollars a night for the Contemporary. I just thought about how much our Bay Lake Tower room is going to cost and it's making me laugh and cry.

Of course, a quick check of an inflation calculator says that's over $250 in 2015 money, so it's not like that was cheap then...but have you seen the rack rates at the Contemporary lately? OMG.

Too funny on the prices. I just visited some family friends that are currently staying at the new Bora Bora Bungalows at the Poly DVC. They said that the rate for their room is $2,200.00 per night. They are staying for about 4 days. I must say the bungalows are very nice. You can see the Castle from the living room couch, literally. That's crazy nice.
