Team Dream - Sabotage Project

A New Ship Slide
twister-waterslide-1.jpg

Replacing the Aquaduck slide on our Disney Cruise ship, the Disney Dream, will be the Keester Coaster Challenge. Name taken from the popular Boardwalk Resort side, this roller coaster type slide will start around 50 feet above the upper deck of the Disney Dream. You swirl around and dip down through a 30 sec adventure than ends in a splashdown in the kids pool. While not as scenic as the Aquaduck slide, this slide will be more secure and stable compared to its predecessor so that it isn't sabotaged again. Overall, the water coaster slide will be fun for everyone in the family aboard your Disney Cruise.

Coming to Tomorrowland is "The galaxy through time." This state of the art attraction will take you all around the universe, and show you how time works. You will work to manipulate time through scientific gravitation theories in an alternate universe. Using time buses you will travel literally into space and time!

P.S. Team Magic, myself included have been very busy, hence why this is so succinct. But to be fair it makes you use your imagination:D

Show
All of the screens project bookcases, and endless hallways of bookcases.
When the lights dim, familiar voices can be heard saying things like "Visitors!" "Wow! That's rare!"

Mickey Mouse steps out from one of the hallways. "Why howdy there strangers! Welcome to the Anaheim Collection. This is where all of the characters from the various stories created live. Most of the characters are shyer than me, though!"

Mickey proceeds to pull a book called Toontown from the bookcase. A secret door appears, which leads to the iconic area. Mickey says, "That's how this collection works. You pull a book and you can go into that story. But characters mostly are never in their own stories. They travel through all of the stories in the collection."

On the opposite side of the room, a door is heard opening and Mr. Incredible walks out. "Just saved Zootopia from some Omnidroids President Mickey. And whoa! Who are the visitors!"

Throughout the rest of the show, we see glimpses of the different worlds and several characters interaction with each other. The show concludes with a large knock on the front door (by the security officer we saw sleeping) and Mickey saying, "Well guys, you better go. Here I'll show you the back way," and Mickey pulls out a book entitled Shanghai Disneyland. Which leads to the outside of the parks.

AN: Sorry for the sloppiness. I have a ton of homework and band.

Dimensions
外形尺寸

Introduction
After the opening of Shanghai Disneyland in 2016, there was a robust call for more "E-ticket" level attractions. While thematically, the park was impeccable, aside from a few showcasing attractions, the park lacked in depth among its attraction list. With this said, Disney embarked on a new Imagineering feat, to connect Tomorrowland and Fantasyland together, by taking a page out of Disneyland's book and adding a sort of transition between the two lands. This time, however, the new E-ticket caliber attraction, Dimensions, will be placed as an expansion of Tomorrowland, and act as the barrier between and transition from Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. With Pirates of the Caribbean on the right side of the park, another E-ticket attraction placed on the opposite side will not only be a good placement to disperse the crowds but will be the E-ticket caliber attraction that Shanghai Disneyland needs.

Park Location
sdl%20map%203.jpg~original

A zoomed in map of Shanghai Disneyland Tomorrowland is shown above, and the attraction, Dimensions, will be in the open space in-between the Tron attraction and the Frozen Sing a Long show.

Backstory
Like any Disney attraction, the attraction begins with a story. And the story of this adventure revolves around an Association of Reconnaissance and Communication (ARC) which is an inter-dimensional research facility located in Tomorrowland. Run by China's top scientists, this facility houses vehicles that are capable of taking guests through various dimensions of the universe to study the newfound creatures, atmospheres, and habitats that we have found over the years. These could provide valuable resources for our future as a human race, and possibly a new home for us if anything happened on earth. That is why it is imperative that we test out new dimensions and bring participating explorers along with us. This time - you are the explorers as you walk up to the research facility.

Exterior Facade
30706539701_9fbf672f32_k.jpg

The exterior facade is chrome plated and very futuristic in its design, to blend in with the neon, Tron style surrounding it. However, there is a hint of magenta and pink, signaling a transition into Fantasyland from Tomorrowland.

Queue
You walk into the research facility and see designs, paintings, and structures scattered throughout the main atrium of the visitors center of the facility. You see the first man and woman to enter into the future dimension, crossing the time barrier and going to the year 2679. You also see brave explorers who dared to conquer the Fantasy Dimension, a dimension of magnificent sights and sounds, but with some unknown creatures living in it. As you continue to wind around the switchbacks of the queue, you finally end up at the pre-show for the attraction.

Preshow
A door encloses around you as you are standing up in rows comparable to the room in Stitch's Great Escape. You are greeted by a sophisticated robot and get a pep talk about how there is an uprising in the future dimension. Stitch/Tron robot. Instead of going on an observatory mission to the future dimension, instead, we are doing a highly classified mission to Fayzuno. Fayzuno is an extremely advanced planet inhabited by advanced organisms called Cugroms. Cugroms are extremely weak and fragile and cannot survive in our environment, but manipulate time. They have become fascinated by humanity for their drive for greatness. Though with one breakthrough they will revolutionize. This is where they come in and try to play god with us. The biggest issue is the Cugroms cannot come to us even with their teleportation shenanigans. The original encounter was a suicide. One of them did their teleportation thing and suffocated instantly, though left behind a note with the prototype, and where to meet for the next encounter. The Cugroms are far from extinct yet their planet lays extinct. With the manipulation of time comes teleportation. We fear that the enemy has intercepted our documents and will soon compromise the entire rebellion. Due to the secretive aspect and the capacity we had to mount this prototype on a truck. We must work fast because time is running out, and the prototype is not reliable so we need some wiggle room in case of a malfunction. Quick recap before y’all go. Go to Fayzuno at all costs.

In addition, the sophisticated robot also describes to us that a rogue group of ARC scientists is trapped in the fantasy dimension after encountering a large winged creature. They are requesting an additional troupe go and rescue them from the fantasy dimension. The robot then proceeds to describe your vehicles, which are the ones used in Universal's Kong attraction. The vehicle itself though has a retheme to look like a truck that came out of Tron with a golden glowing aura bouncing off it.

You will be guided and driven by two explorers on your missions - one for the Future Dimension (Dr. Samuel Wong) and the Fantasy Dimension (Dr. Rachel Yee)
http://www./wp-content/uploads/2016/03/12516931_254189851584425_1387517091_o.jpg
The safety protocol goes over what you will experience on the attraction - some turbulence, and if you are prone to motion sickness, you may want to wait for your party at the arrival gate. Other than that you are to proceed to your stations, and you get to choose which mission you want to go on - the future dimension or the fantasy dimension mission.

Attraction Map
30174505204_fc34499485_b.jpg

The map above describes the route that the vehicles take on the mission. Your vehicles go through 6 scenes and in scenes 4 and 6 you ride parallel with the other dimension in a scene that will be described later on. The attraction will approx last 3 minutes 45 seconds.

Attraction Ride-Through Descriptions

Future Dimension Side
Doors open and you are in the boarding room similar to the laboratory setting when you enter the Time Rover in Dinosaur. Once the vehicle starts moving and leaves the hangar (big gate opens) and you enter a wormhole to travel to the future dimension.

Weird and bright colors surround you as you finally end up on an earth like planet and you are stampeded by an army of rebellion soldiers. They look like peacekeepers from The Hunger Games but with a blue and orange color scheme. They start shooting and a blue swirling thing comes out. The trucks "pilot" quickly activates the prototype and the golden aura strengthens. Your truck speeds up and goes into the next scene.

The next scene is a planet that is a beach and sinkholes are constant and sand geysers are everywhere. They start to sink down into one when they teleport through to the next (they go down a 10 ft drop like the Dinosaur ride but not as steep).

The following scene is a cloud planet, you can see 6 other planets nearby, you see two collide and then you go to the following.

The third they finally get to the ocean planet (Fayzuno) and giant 1000 ft waves come colliding at you via a projection screen as you quickly make your escape back through the wormhole, just trying to save yourselves.

In the wormhole, you see a reflection of the fantasy dimension through crystals and the other traveling truck trying to escape from the creature in the fantasy dimension. You break away and see a bunch of trippy imagery around you as you reconnect with the fantasy dimension truck and escape the wormhole in just the nick of time.

Fantasy Dimension Side

You exit the load area through a wormhole of bright blue and purple colors traveling faster than the speed of light and wind up in a fantastical land of enhancement.

Upon first arrival, you see towering waterfalls and mountains surrounding you and a beautiful sunrise on the horizon. You begin to wonder what possibly could lie in such a beautiful place, then you begin to go deeper.

You see an almost abandoned futuristic society in this dimension, driven out by the creature that everyone fears, and why you are there to rescue the other expedition. You see the other vehicle, but by that time, it's too late.

The powerful creature roars as a large animatronic and your driver turns you away from the creature and with the other vehicle, following makes a break for the wormhole.

After swirling in and out of color, you see the future dimension truck crossing paths with you in the wormhole, as you all jolt back to the research facility and end your mission safety. However the creature's growl and be heard behind you, and like in Dinosaur, you dive underneath the creature's bite as you soar through another dimension and out of the wormhole, back to safety.

You unload at the dock and proceed to the photo area and gift shop where you can purchase collectible items unique to the attraction, Dimensions.

Initial Thoughts:
I have to admit, when I first heard this concept, I was skeptical, although, it seems you did very well with the premise. Overall, the presentation was great, possible a few tweaks here and there, but overall, keep doing what you are doing! Very interesting storyline with the dimensions, although, it did seem a bit forced. The overall story seemed to be missing in some aspects. In addition, I think this ride would suffer exactly what Kong is suffering, it feels short! You have an impressive entry, followed by an initial conflict, before the main conflict ensues, and then a narrow escape. I love the fact that you had two tracks/ stories, although I wish you just did one full track. The ride vehicle usage felt... Odd. It was very clear that these were not the ideal vehicles, although, I wish you had just used it more effectively than "we strapped a prototype on a truck".

Toy Story: Prospector's March

Backstory: After the events of Toy Story 2, Woody's Roundup toys became popular on the market, and were then commercialized to be sold around the world, and not just in a museum in Japan like Al wanted. Therefore, with the help of Andy's Mom and a surprise Christmas present, Andy got the full set of Woody's Roundup - including Prospector and Woody's Goldmine town. To Andy, this was a dream come true. To Woody, and the rest of the toys, they knew this spelled trouble for them in Andy's backyard. On this adventure, you travel along on one of Andy's stories as Woody, Jesse, Bullseye and Prospector travel into a mine to look for his gold.

Exterior : The buildings from Woody's town then to the right the entrance to the mine.

Buildings : The jail contains a Wood animatronic and a Stinky Pete animatronic inside a cell. The Sherriff is a store as well as the school.
facade.jpg

Mine entrance- without cartoony bling :

Vehicle : Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts ride system with a reskin. The reskin will consist of a more rundown rusty feel to have less of a ride vehicle feel and more of a mine cart.

Queue : You are going through the caverns of a cave as the picture shows.

Boarding : Quad vehicle boarding- all on the same side. The photo is the scenery except condensed.

Ride experience : Woody, Bullseye, Jessy, Stinky Pete, and you go on a journey through Prospector's March lead by Stinky Pete himself. It is his gold mine after all. The first scene after launch is a slow moving dark ride scene with bats flurrying through state of the art animatronic Woody, Bullseye, Jessy, and Stinky Pete walk beside you. The subsequent scene is a dropoff with a waterfall. Bullseye stumbles along the edge of a cliff in the mine. Bullseye is on the screen while the rest of them are animatronics. The genius you are decide it is a good idea to follow him. You proceed down a 16 and 1/8 ft drop.

You can hear the rest of the gang follow from behind. You and the gang reunite with bullseye though he has noticed a faint black stain on the floor. You and the gang follow him until you get to this built up prison-like room. Stinky Pete runs through the room until he disappears behind a wall. Woody calls out for him. Suddenly you hear an eruption in the distant. Rocks suddenly start to fall out of place and the wall behind gets collapsed in by rocks. You rush forward towards the next scene where you are at a screen (Like the transitions at Harry potter and the forbidden Journey). You and the gang are trying to escape the falling cave until you climb over a pile of collapsed rocks. Stinky Pete is there and says I'm innocent and woody and Jessy grab him and tie him up. You go to the next scene which is a dark ride scene of in his jail cell in Woody's Sherriff department. The ride ends and you exit into the Sherriff store.

Green Army Men Rescue

Coming to Hong Kong is a ride using the technology of King Kong but in a more comical sense. Enjoy as you join the green army men as they have to perform a rescue mission to rescue Woody and Buzz from Sid's backyard. Remeet Sid's toys, who the green army men treat as hostile, but end up saving the day.

The loading queue is themed to a small bunker made up of toy materials, such as playing cards for walls and old phones for television displays. The majority of the ride, after the initial launch to Sid's house (created using screens) is inside Sid's house with the climatic rescue occurring his backyard.

This ride would be (obviously) located at the northern tip of Toy Story Land and would provide a much needed ex ticket to the land.

I love this concept. I liked how you were able to include a few details, although I wish there was more. I have a bit of an issue with the fact that the Green Army Men parachute drop is on the other end, and would seperate the theme. I would have loved concept art, which would have upped this presentation, along with better formatting, and general pictures. I thought that this was a very creative premise, but it could have used a bit more umph. The use of ride vehicles were good and fitting, all though, I wish you had put more detail into this.

I know this is supposed to be a laid back comp, so ill try to keep it that way, but i dont understand how Team Dream got 2nd place when we were the only team to submit both projects on time.

Not only that but Team Wonder's 1st place project was submitted almost an hour after their extended due date and the 10 point late deduction seems to not be applied.
Good question. Teams Fantasy, Magic, and Wonder. You may turn in your projects by 11:59:59 PM EST tomorrow and receive a mere 10 pt deduction (which would disappear for Team Fantasy due to an advantage). It is better to turn in something than nothing. I will begin reviews soon for those who turned in. The Paris due dates will not change, but they are a bit easier that these, so I expect something on time, please.

I'm not trying to hurt other teams, but at the same time, if there are rules, then I think they should apply equally to all. Though if the flexible rules are part of the laid back nature of the comp, that's cool, but some clarification would be appreciated.

Completly agree, I feel we got cheated. Not trying to be a sore loser, but you specifically said they would recieve a 10 point reduction... I understand this is the first time you are hosting a competition but still... :bored:

I know this is supposed to be a laid back comp, so ill try to keep it that way, but i dont understand how Team Dream got 2nd place when we were the only team to submit both projects on time.

Not only that but Team Wonder's 1st place project was submitted almost an hour after their extended due date and the 10 point late deduction seems to not be applied.

:bored:
I compltely agree with what they said.

So the 10+ gems for first place? Shouldn't the dededuction be in place first then the place point gets inserted?
I think I understand what the grading is like. The first step is just deciding what submission was the most well liked and award gems based on the submissions alone with no other factors.

Once the gems are awarded then the deductions for lateness and the additions for original artwork will be included.

So while, Wonder may have gotten "first" for this round, we will not be in the lead since we submitted late. The second place ship will most likely be in the lead since they submitted on time and had original artwork and will have the most gems out of the four ships.

It works the same way for the Holiday Pumpkin Carving Contest they have on tv during Halloween. I hope that makes sense. Please let me know if I'm wrong, Magic Feather.

Let say you are short on time. You will get 3rd place which is 5 gems lets say. Wouldnt you rather get a better project and 10 gems that cancel out the late? On top of that a 1st place prize is better then a 3rd so everything else is better which in the end is a better submission. We were rushed and we had to submit a product that was not to its true pottential due to the time supplied.

Golden Prompt: Boats of the Far West: Team Magic

Anyone who has set sail around Disneyland Paris's Rivers of the Far West in Frontierland knows it is one of the most fully immersive and thematically-detailed lands ever created. Full of mystery and wonder and boasting rides such as Big Thunder Mountain and Phantom Manor, it is a land rich in backstory- one that is lost to many first time guests- and traveling around the river does little to fully explain the rich history of the land and the attention to detail the Imagineers used when creating it. Our new boat ride will help.

Thunder.jpg

Imagine setting sail on a gigantic wooden boat, wings outstretched, carved to honor the Thunderbird of local legend. As history declares it, Big Thunder Mountain was rumored to be the home of the Thunder Bird, an important part of Native American culture.

thunderbird-totem-pole.jpg

According to the Ojibwe myth, the Thunderbird were created by the Nanabozho for the task of battling underwater spirits and punishing humans who broke rules or morality and ethics. Enter Henry Ravenswood, a Western Settler who founded the Thunder Mesa Mining Company and therefore the city of Thunder Mesa/Frontierland. Building his house high on a hill (Phantom Manor), Ravenswood continued to exploit the land for its riches as his quest for gold drove him and his mining company further into the mines. One day a terrible earthquake occurred and killed Henry, his wife, Martha, and their daughter, Melanie, the soon to be bride heavily featured in Phantom Manor. The Thunderbird had taken its vengeance and taught a fatal lesson about greed, corruption, and danger of losing one's soul in their quest for wealth.

While on board the boat, guests would be treated to a show from a Shaman telling the history of the land and the Thunderbird- explaining this important tale all brave enough to hear it. Various sights around the river (the geysers, Phantom Manor, Big Thunder Mountain, fishing cabin, etc) will all be worked into the mythology to help explain the cohesiveness of the land.

We hope that we can take a simple journey down the river and use it to enhance the appreciation and understanding for Disney Land Paris' Fronteirland's rich, complex, and tragic history.

presents the End of the End (Armageddon Replacement)

Doctor Strange: Battle for the Sanctum
doctor-strange-1.jpg

Armageddon's heavily outdated IP will be replaced by a more elaborate show based on Doctor Strange, featuring the additions of projection mapping, 4K video screens, holograms, and live actors.

Location and IP: Armageddon is directly across the street from the Meet Spider-Man Meet and Greet, forming a small Marvel miniland area with the replacement of Doctor Strange

The facade remains the same studio theming, with the sign changed to reflect the new attraction that lies within. Guests are escorted by cast members into one of two theaters. These theaters are themed to the main room of the hall in Tibet. A large screen appears and director Scott Derrickson and actor Benedict Cumberbatch welcome us.

The attraction is introduced as a special effects extravaganza that takes us behind the scenes of the best effects of Doctor Strange. After a short preview of the film, the door to the New York Sanctum opens and we see the grand entrance of the New York Sanctum. As we all gather in, three windows change to different environments. The lights dim and Doctor Strange walks in, welcoming us.

Just before he finishes, Mordo flies through the changing windows and confronts Strange, who casts a spell and sends Mordo flying, Strange's cloak lifting him up. A fight occurs in the air over our heads and onto the second floor. Projections and holograms make up the primary magic effects as the spells become more and more destructive.

Eventually practical effects take on as the Sanctum is nearly reduced to rubble and Mordo is defeated. Strange uses his magic to restore the damage to the rubble and disappears in a flash, his disembodied voice thanking us for visiting and then telling us to leave.

Presents The Golden Prompt (Boats of the Far West)

Blending into the already elaborate backstory of Frontierland’s Thunder Mesa comes the re-imagineed riverboat of Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing.

Henry Ravenswood has struck it rich in Thunder Mesa, discovering gold deep within Big Thunder Mountain and founded the town of Thunder Mesa.
latest

After building an elaborate Victorian Mansion a top Boot Hill, Ravenswood turned his attention to mining every last drop of gold from the mountain despite being warned of a curse on whatever gold is taken from the mountain.

Shortly thereafter, Ravenswood created Big Thunder Mountain Co. to dig ever increasing amounts of the precious mineral out of the rock, but as more and more gold was mined, the problem of how to get it back east plagued Ravenswood. He then commissioned a riverboat to carry his gold up the river to Rainbow Ridge to be transported by rail back east. However, this was not just any riverboat, but a vessel built to impress Ravenswood’s “friends” and business associates. The steamer was outfitted with the finest sitting room filled with plush chairs, fancy wallpaper, and even several small replicas of famous statues. Great care was taken to create a sense of awe and envy at Ravenwood’s wealth in every detail from the gilded gold trim to the deep purple of the accents (both colors were chosen by Henry Ravenswood himself as these were the colors of royalty to which he clearly saw himself as). This boat was christened La Fortune (The Fortune).
full
For many years, Ravenswood’s gold was transported in this way with Ravenswood sometimes making the trip as well to entertain other well to do members of Thunder Mesa (and not so subtly rub his good fortune in their faces). Other times he would retreat to his office on board and conduct business his purser, Thomas Hutton and the overseer of the mine, Abraham Willis. This continued until the birth of his daughter, Melanie.

In celebration of his daughter, another ship was commission to be made in the same finery as La Fortune, this time outfitted in gold trim and with accents to match Melanie’s favorite color, teal. This boat was aptly named Le Trésor de Ravenswood (Ravenswood’s Treasure) as little Melanie was the greatest treasure Ravenswood had. Ironically enough, as Melanie grew older, many would agree that name was weirdly appropriate as Ravenswood increasingly kept his daughter isolated in the mansion, jealously guarding her as a dragon would its treasure.

Now Henry Ravenswood had two boats to transport his gold even faster to Rainbow Ridge. As one boat would be returning from Rainbow Ridge, the other boat would just be leaving Thunder Mesa to deliver more gold. (Like the original Boats of the Far West, there will be two vessels to alternate out and allowing for refurbishment as needed).

Guests strolling through Forntierland/Thunder Mesa will pass by the loading dock for one of these boats surrounded by the necessary hauling equipment to get the gold on board. A large wooden crane seems to be frozen in the middle of loading with a pallet piled high with gold (this area should always look as if guests walked right into the middle of boat loading). Several citizens of Thunder Mesa will encourage guests to board the boat for a grand trip up to Rainbow Ridge (these will be streetmosphere characters that will also board the boat to entertain and interact with guests). Once the guests are aboard La Fortune, a couple of last minute characters will make the entrance, a well-dressed looking gentleman, a snooty clerk, and a slightly dusty miner wearing clothes that are in somewhat good condition. With these last additions, the boat will make way up the river.

Guests on board will be able to interact with several the streetmosphere characters while they make this 15-minute journey. Each character has their own unique backstory and tale to tell. Guests will need to come back several times to hear every story and meet every character; this will increase the attraction’s re-ride ability. Like the Adventurer’s Club, there can be several different characters that appear on different days and at different times. Below are just a few of the characters guests can meet.

There is Aurore Aube, the daughter of one of the older miners back at Thunder Mesa. She is as tough as any of the men working in the mine, and don’t think that she won’t prove it. Challenge her to game of luck or roping and see who comes out on top.

Andre Wizoux, is a Frenchman who emigrated to the west to find his own fortune. He dresses as a gentleman to fool everyone into thinking he is far more wealthy than he appears. In reality, he is getting by on his charming wit and good reputation. Every time he is asked about how he made his wealth, his story will change, hinting at the fraud that he actually is.

alphonse-daudet-1840-1897-french-novelist-and-short-story-writer-1869-cwacf4.jpg

Next up is Amelie Chaplet, a showgirl with a habit of oversleeping on her way to perform at the saloon in Thunder Mesa. Guests will first see her as she runs to the railing mourning the fact that she once again missed her chance to get to the saloon on time. She is by far the funniest of these characters, always laughing and ready with a funny story. If asked, she will perform the saloon act she never gets to do for the guests which can include singing (sometimes more in tune than others) or dancing. Be prepared to join in if she picks you to help out.
chastity+gulch+1.jpg

Stephen Regret is the pianist who will occasionally perform on board. A very friendly man, always ready with a smile and a tune, provided a “tip” is given beforehand.

dave_bourne429.jpg

Abraham Willis is the overseer of the mine along to watch over gold and the miners assigned to transport the gold to Rainbow Ridge. A seedy man, Willis is quick to order everyone about and has little respect for the paper pusher, Thomas Hutton. Guests can find him boasting about his authority over the mine workers or having a heated conversation with Hutton.

26c2a3d3078e9aa4db967c6568ceae38.jpg

The main show is featured in the sitting room where there are several chairs and tables available for guests to relax. There are bookshelves, bottles of expensive spirits and glasses, and over the mantle is a portrait of Ravenswood with his first piece of gold taken from Big Thunder Mountain.

red-room-c1883.jpg

v1887.jpg

Lolli Popsie, a serving girl with hopes of becoming a showgirl will usher guests in, giggling incessantly proving that she is more of a ditz than a performer.

6f25c80021fb13b1c6ee0f4a310aba4a.jpg

She will start to sing (quite awfully) until Elias Escarbilles, a miner, wanders in and interrupts her. He stumbles around and remarks on all of the fancy trinkets. It’s obvious he’s not supposed to be here, but he seats himself down in front of the guests and asks if they want to hear a story.

PlacerMiner1930-500.jpg

Here, Elias begins the tale of the cursed gold of Big Thunder Mountain, but before he can get too far, Ravenswood's personal purser, Thomas Hutton barges in to put a stop to this tall tale.

Hutton is along to make sure Mr. Ravenswood's gold gets to Rainbow Ridge safely. As a no-nonsense kind of man, he has little patience for the steamer's superstitious crew.

oldwest_mens_14_full.jpg

Elias warns the guests and Hutton that the gold on board is cursed as well. Of course, Mr. Ravenswood's purser is unimpressed and demonstrates that the gold is fine by producing a piece from his pocket. As the gold is reveled, the lights flicker on and off, books slide off the bookshelves, drinking glasses levitate, and the eyes of several small statues glow red. Hutton is irritated at what he views as problem with the boat itself and runs off to find the captain to demand an explanation.

This story can be changed as often as needed, but the end result is the same: the boat has to return to the loading dock until this situation can be sorted out (this explains why the boat never gets to Rainbow Ridge and always returns to the same dock).

As with the pilot house on the steamboat at Disneyland, guests can ask to see Mr. Ravenswood's private office on board La Fortune to catch a glimpse of the man's inner workings.

13-2.jpg

Wild-West-r3.jpg

Ledgers on Ravenwood’s desk show the steady decline of the mine’s production and several letters from Willis and other miners describe strange accidents that keep happening more frequently, even talking about small earthquakes.

The other vessel, Le Trésor de Ravenswood, offers the same experience only with different details. The sitting room on this boat has a portrait of Melanie hanging over the mantle.

pm_t_bride.png

Instead of Ravenswood’s office on La Fortune, a study is where guests can visit on Le Trésor de Ravenswood. On his desk, guests will dive even deeper into Phantom Manor’s back story as they look at several letters Ravenswood intercepted from Melanie to her fiancée, Jake Evans.

letters+hm+2.jpg

The letters detail how Melanie and Jake plan to steal away on the Le Trésor de Ravenswood and escape from Melanie’s father and Thunder Mesa.

For Halloween, along with the rest of Frontierland, the boat will become haunted with the ghosts of the cursed gold, including Mr. Ravenswood on certain occasions. There will be all new characters that will be reminiscent of the citizens of Phantom Manor.

Pamela Sanger and Carl Badlan, are the Bonnie and Clyde of the west. Pamela used to distract the local law enforcement with her “charms” while her lover robbed the bank. Both perished in the big quake.

Harold King was the previous piano player from The Lucky Nugget still determined to finish his last song.

Henry Ravenswood (The Phantom) will appear in the boat’s mirrors (Leota effect) and menace guests from the top tier of the boat.

Backstory
The Adventures of TinTin is one of the most popular European comic franchises of the 20th century and has several editions with American Western ties to them. In 2015, as Disneyland Paris struggles in attendance and budgets are diverted away to other theme park venues such as the overbudget Shanghai Disneyland, Walt Disney Imagineering and the Board of Directors decide to buy the rights to TinTin and use it in Disneyland Paris.

While a smaller buy compared to their other franchise purchases such as Marvel and Star Wars, the TinTin purchase allows them to utilize a popular European franchise in their European theme parks. Since the purchase was sudden and budget is short on Disneyland Paris, the TinTin infusion into Paris will start out small, with an additional boat ride on the Rivers of the West, themed to the TinTin in America comic book series.
fd8b33ac5686ba40d1bc191e0c3679d9.jpg

The Western adventure style of the comic, combined with its popularity, will add a newfound interest to the park, stimulating it's growth.

Without further ado, Team Dream presents a new boat to the fleet on the Rivers of the Far West, The Sirius.

Come on the adventure...

Board the Sirius
Tintin-Sirius.jpg

Board the Sirius, a brand new, four-story, massive ship on the Rivers of the Far West. This ship joins the Molly Brown and the Mark Twain around Frontierland's most famous locations. Below is a map of Disneyland Paris and the areas The Sirius will travel around including Smugglers Cove, Wilderness Island, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
frontierland.jpg

Boat Queue
The queue is the same as the Mark Twain and Molly Brown's - but with a few added pieces of cargo and small curios from Tintin's travels. For example, the lantern from The Adventures of Tintin: The Blue Lotus will be now found at the dock.

The_Adventures_of_Tintin_-_05_-_The_Blue_Lotus.jpg

Boat Statistics
The Sirius is a 150-ton, 23-foot-high (8.5 m), 105-foot-long (32 m) that can hold up to 110 passengers at a time.

Year round, this boat goes around the Rivers of the Far West on a 12-minute journey.

Boat Aesthetics
Below is an image of what the boat will look like. The Sirius will add diversity to the fleet of boats currently sailing around the rivers of the far west in Disneyland Paris. With it's unique design and authenticity to the comics, it will give every fan of both the comic and of Disneyland Paris a reason to come check out the new addition on the waters, adding a new aesthetic to the park and a valuable token for what may be to come in the future with the franchise.

Comparison to the Mark Twain

Comparison to the Molly Brown
maxresdefault.jpg

The First Deck is considered an "A" ticket for the park, having guests load with a similar ride audio as the Mark Twain and the Molly Brown, but with Tintin, Snowy, and Captain Haddock as the narrators. You may even see a few different effects along the way - such as

Dinner Show/Entertainment
The Lower two Levels feature a Dinner show featuring a new Tintin Adventure based on the comic Tintin in America.
tintin_by_isuru077-d3jo6kr.jpg

During the Dinner Show, which will take place from 5PM - 10PM, TinTin will come out to greet the crowd reenacting skits from the comics live on stage.

For comparison sake, a Hoop De Do Revue show, just themed around TinTin.

Conclusion
Ultimately, the inclusion of a popular European IP will invigorate the Frontierland aesthetic and be integrated in with a fresh perspective and flair to the land, which is something Disneyland Paris desperately needs.
