from inside the magic:
Starting today, guests at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom will see a major difference in the area in front of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Adventureland.

As I walked through, I spotted more than 10 pirates milling about and interacting with guests. Some were looking for Captain Jack Sparrow, and others appeared to be lost and slightly inebriated. There were even a few that had “passed out.”

In addition to talking with guests, several little mini-shows popped up. One of these included members of the Royal Navy. According to a cast member, they plan to continue the pirate invasion on a daily basis!

With this and Skipper Canteen, some nice plussing going on in Adventureland. Now, if only they could use that empty expansion pad to add a big E-ticket to the land (*cough* Fire Mountain *cough*)

Heck, I'd be totally fine with cloning Indiana Jones or Journey to the Center of the Earth.

an entertainment cast member said that this is temporary and a test for a new entertainment offering for Shanghai

They typically do things like this during holiday/peak seasons. Extra emtertainment is added around the parks because of higher wait times at attractions. It is likely to be gone when the holiday season ends in early January.

Looking at some of the pictures made me wonder if they weren't just some crazy guests, but it's a nice idea. I agree it's unlikely this will continue once things slow down again after the new year. Wouldn't make as much sense when the queue is actually moving and inside the building, plus the Captain Jack show going on across the way.
