We have clear skies but a super moon cancelling out the darkness :( And where we live all lights are turned off at midnight so perfect viewing, if it wasn't for the pesky moon!

Routinely, for the last few years. We are in darkness from midnight until 6am, everyone is asleep so it saves energy for the town. Pretty much a UK wide thing.

That's brilliant. Wish they'd do that in my town.

Then, when I'm standing on my lawn with my astronomy guide, I could see more than just Orion. :) And the neighbors wouldn't be able to see me geeking out on my front lawn. :D

It's lovely to be able to see natural light. We have the mid section of our house with sky lights. I can even sit on my staircase, look up, and see stars. No light pollution, as it should be.
