Trip Report Our First Trip

Hi everybody! My boyfriend and I just went on our first trip together. I want to recall it to the general public because it was probably the best trip I could have ever been on (even better than my imagination, too). I'll be doing this in spurts (because I'm quite busy. Full time job. New apartment. You know...adult life :p)

So...stay tuned!!!!

Part 1: Planning Out Our Trip
My boyfriend and I basically met through our bonding over Disney. We learned our favourite ride was both PeopleMover and our favourite resort was Beach Club. One night in June, we joked about just hopping on a plane and going to Disney World for the weekend. Sadly, I didn't have enough personal days to actually do it. We played around with the thought of going for a while. Then, in mid-July, Sam (boyfriend) looked at flights from Burlington to Orlando in September (usually around $300), but it was only $220. We just decided to book it! My work actually gives me mad ticket discounts to the park. So, we saved a bunch of money through that. Yay Dartmouth!

Sam and I are doing a long distance thing. He lives in Hershey, I live in Vermont. In order to keep us sane, we spent so many nights on the phone chatting about plans on what to do in Disney. What rides we wanted to go on, our fast pass choices, our dinner choices. He actually had me compile lists of rides we just needed to go on and things we needed to do. These lists will end up in our eventual scrapbook!

Part 2: Surprises!

About a week before we left, I found out that one of my best friends from my hometown in Pennsylvania, Sarah, was actually going to Disney the same days as we were. The last time we were in town, she wasn't there...so I was super excited to see her in Disney. She used to work in Disney at Ellen's Universe of Energy and I was looking forward to nerd out to Disney with her and learn about Disney behind the scenes!

Originally, our plane was supposed to leave early Friday morning on September 1st at 5:50 am. The night before, I received a call saying that our trip from Burlington to Orlando was cancelled!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Luckily, Sam was extremely smart on his feet (he handled it much better than I could have) and he drove to the airport and talked to Delta (the airline we were taking). Apparently the lady was super nice and got us tickets from Albany to Orlando with a stop to Atlanta. We had to drive 3 hours to Albany, however our plane would land in Orlando nearly 2 and a half hours earlier than our original flight!!!

Sam came back to our apartment around 9:00 and we slept for a couple of hours. We left at 12:45 am to get to Albany by 3:30 am for our 5:30 am flight. Let me tell you, that ride was extremely crazy. Sam drove to let me sleep, but of course I had insane thoughts. For example, I thought my car would break down and a bunch of cannibals would eat us! Too many scary movies for me! :D:D:D One amazing thing I did like about the drive was that the sky was pitch dark and I was able to see the stars in the night sky. It was completely breathtaking! I even saw a shooting star

As soon as we got to Albany, I got a Red Eye, black. Black: Just like my soul! Sam was also able to get us seats next to each other on the flight!

In Atlanta, our flight landed at Gate A33 and we had to run all the way over to gate A3 for our flight leaving in 10 minutes.

We wore our magic bands from the start, too.

Sounds like an awesome trip!

@MonorailRed and i just had a recent trip as well, pretty similar to this! Though we didnt plan haha we were more spontaneous...we'd overplan and there arent 32 hours in a day :p

Cant wait to hear more!

Spontaneous is the way to go! Actually, there were a lot of bumps in our trip that made us become more flexible with our plans.

Part 3: Landing in Orlando and Pop Century
The flight was super short from Atlanta and Orlando. We really liked the Delta plane for that flight because there was TV on Demand. So we just watched a bunch of Bob's Burgers until we landed in Orlando. It was kind of muggy out, but at least it wasn't raining. We were so so so so so lucky that we missed that hurricane!

Getting the to Magic Express bus was a lot of fun. We just followed the mickey signs like a bunch of little children.

Sam got better pictures of our arrival to WDW, but this picture shall suffice!

I was already spotting the hidden mickeys the second we arrived on resort.

We literally checked in 4 hours before actual check in time. Luckily, they had a room ready for us. We plopped our bags down, headed to the food court for some fuel, and then off to Magic Kingdom!

Day 1: Magic Kingdom and DHS
We decided our first park to be Magic Kingdom

upload_2016-9-11_20-15-41.png

I can't even tell you the giggles out of our mouths when we entered.

Sam and I both agreed that one of our favourite parts of the trip. The Magic Kingdom ticket person, who was an old guy (like Carl!), asked if Sam was my Prince Charming. I shyly nodded, smiling at Sam. The man told Sam, "Young man. If you want this Princess to have the most magical time, you need to take her by the hand. It will amplify the magic so much."

upload_2016-9-11_20-18-48.png

Sam told me his favourite part of the trip was seeing my face as we walked down Main Street U.S.A. for the first time together.

upload_2016-9-11_20-20-27.png

Our first stop was Tomorrowland!

upload_2016-9-11_20-48-6.png

Guess what our first ride was...

upload_2016-9-11_20-48-34.png

It was one of our only planned rides. We thought it was symbolic for us to have our first ride on the ride that brought us together!

Captain Sam won that one ;)

We then went on my favourite ride! We didn't have a FP and it was only a 20 minute wait!

The queue music is one of my favourites and so I couldn't help myself with recording us going through the queue.

Afterwards, we caught some cool pictures of the castle:

We then left for MGM (yes, I know it's DHS, but I still call it MGM). The line on the bus was super long, so I grew clever and we decided to go on the bus to the Swan & Dolphin (bus was already there) and walk from there.

Day 1: Magic Kingdom and DHS (continued)
We had a really nice walk over to DHS. We automatically went straight to ToT, which is my favourite queue line.

Afterwards we ventured around DHS/MGM. We stopped at GMR which had a surprisingly long wait time. One of the longest on our trip. About 30 minutes. We then went by Toy Story Mania. I spent some time looking at the concept art for Toy Story Land.

upload_2016-9-12_19-33-21.png

We then walked around DHS more and got frustrated trying to find food. There were pastry places, places with fast food, and dine-ins with long waits. We then also discussed how much of a mess DHS was. Walking through the parts near Star Wars, there was really confusing theming going on.

We went on to RRC for our FP. We rode the front row. It was kind of memorable because our bag broke right before we took off and my FuelRod spilt out (oops I forgot to talk about this in the Magic Kingdom part. You can buy this cool rechargeable battery in select places in the park for $30. You use it for your smartphone. Once the battery runs out, you swap it for a newly charged one!). Sam and I both placed our feet on it so we wouldn't lose it.

After RRC, we watched the Star Wars fireworks. We weren't a fan. Granted, Sam has never seen Star Wars (don't worry, I'm working on this ;)) and just simply watched the fireworks. We weren't in an ideal location to view the fireworks. We stood in front of the Trolley Car, where you can partially view the screen, but the fireworks were kind of hard to see. I feel like the concept was great, but there was just too much going on. Later on in our trip, we saw the fireworks from afar while we were in Epcot, and we found that we enjoyed that more than watching it at DHS.

Day 2: Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom

Hands down this was my favourite day! (warning: This might be long!)

So, if you haven't noticed by now, Sam is super adorable and way too nice to me. Saturday morning, he woke me up with 2 pastries (chocolate croissant and cherry Danish) AND coffee. :inlove: I got really lucky when he chose me. :joyfull: We made our trek over to Animal Kingdom.

When we arrived, I noticed that the crane in future Avatarland had the word "Morrow" on it. Does Tom Morrow own it?? ;)

We went straight to Asia. We kind of got lost going to Everest; we ended up by Kali River Rapids. Spot the hidden mickey??

We made our way over to Everest.

Obviously, this is one of my other favourite rides (Sam's absolute favourite). We spent a lot of time observing the queue line since it was so well done (currently tied with ToT in my mind). The other morning we watched the Discovery Channel about the making of Expedition: Everest. That documentary made me appreciate it even more!
