LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.—The 100 Years of Magic celebration, a 15-month salute to the 100th birthday and creative legacy of Walt Disney, will begin for Walt Disney World Resort guests on Oct. 1, 2001, as planned. We believe this is the right thing to do since guests will arrive that day expecting to see our many new parades and attractions; we owe it to them to have the celebration under way.
Out of respect for recent events in the United States, we regretfully must cancel the 100 Years of Magic media event that had been scheduled for Oct. 1-3, 2001, though we hope to share the celebration with the media at a more appropriate time. Depending on circumstances, we are considering a media event around Dec. 5, the actual centennial of Walt Disney's birth.
Walt Disney World is a special place where people come to set aside the worries of the world and create lifetime memories with their friends and families. During times of trouble, we believe it is more important than ever to provide this kind of magical and carefree setting for our guests.
