No Extra Magic Hours Starting 1/1/16? Update: EMH to Continue

I hope this is not true. I love using the emh when we are on site. I get so much done before I use my fast passes later in the day.

Allows us to then enjoy afternoon by pool and evening back in a park of our choice just walking around and enjoying the atmosphere or getting s meal.

Always liked those because AK is an AMAZING place after dark, Many details are lit from within etc.
I know, the park takes on a different vibe when the sun goes down ( in a good way ) can't wait till the night time activities start in 2016. You can get a lot done with the EMH but I knew there was a chance of it going away along with the free dining plan. Disney has people hooked and might start to see what they can get away with. Goes hand and hand with the different prices for different times of the year. Interesting times. Will make WDW busy 365 a year.

I don't think the EMH are good for the parks. I like them for the guests and the perk. They stink for the parks. Your maintenance window is narrowed by up to 3 hours and on aging attractions with budget slashed staff there's a cost in "show". You can circumvent the loss of EMH with additional FP+ reservations... On site guests could receive 3 additional pre-booked reservations for a total of 6 per day. This would allow for more service time after hours and hopefully improve "show".

This has the added benefit of increasing lines at all attractions which seems to be the function of FP+...( Okay, that's just my regular shot at this faulted program.)

But "Disney After Dark" is the best time to do Disney. The heat is down, the storm is over and the colors of the park come to life. I doubt you'd see any change in "show" with eliminating EMH... All that really is doing is sending everyone back to their resorts or to DTD.

Disney wants to make money. People want to be in the parks after dark. If Disney keeps the parks open, people will shop, eat and ride rides (given onsite) until they're kicked out for the night. If Disney closes the parks and eliminates the EMH's, all those people who would stay and eat and shop, are back in their rooms or at their pools or whatever, most likely NOT spending any money...

Park hours are only up on the Disney world site through mid December. I wouldn't be getting to upset about January's yet.

Wasn't free dining for the fall announced a little later this year? So no EMH's yet can be annoying but they'll show up. Does anyone remember when they showed up in 2014 for 2015 (serious question.. I don't know that answer)?

Not sure? I honestly don't pay attention to the DDP much. They should have January's hours up officially in a month though, my guess at least

Was this the downfall of Splash Mountain a few years back? No time for maintenance.

Disney announces park hours to travel agents well before it posts them online. The website is programmed to show park hours 180 days out. Meanwhile, park hours through 12/31 have been known since last month (and are posted on this website).

Just quickly waded thru this thread (easier than one that gains 15 pages in a day), and wanted to add what I've been told.

EMH is going away. The ending of nights at DAK and then the cutting the evening hours from three to two were the first steps.

Now, when I was told this, I was told a lot of things. A lot of things about how NGE was going to revolutionize the theme park experience. How people were going to spend far less time in far fewer lines and, therefore, wouldn't need the extra time. How eventually resort guests would have more ''options'' (something I always took to mean purchasing an extra FP or two, although now I think the plan is to just give them one more as an incentive to pay Disney's crazy prices).

All of that hasn't ... well ... proven to be true.

Yet, I do believe that EMH will be gone completely within two years, and, perhaps, as soon as January of next year. So while I have nothing to confirm this, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it as having no merit either.

Nope. Splash Mountain was refurbishment in 2011, but only the safety Bars were added. Disney had a chance at the time to do maintenance on the ride itself at the same based on the amount of time Splash Mountain was done. Splash Mountain for that refurbishment was down at same amount of days as this years.

The other problem with your statement is the fact Phil Holmes is change of the Magic Kingdom back then and now. Phil cut the budget for Space Mountain as a way to save money without doing a proper refurbishment and Phil is doing the same thing again with the amount of time Pirates of the Caribbean is done. Burbank was Pirates down longer than Phil did, but Phil got his way.

Phil is known not to spend money on maintenance on the park he's in charge of in terms of doing refurbishments correctly and that is how Splash Mountain got so bad a first place.

I'm sure they do. But that doesn't mean that's what will be the actual hours. We all know by now Disney can and will change whatever they want whenever they want. I've seen ppl post the hours they find online a million times, then not be anything close to what Disney officially post.
Point is, till you see it on the actual Disney site I don't believe any of it cause 99% of the time it's incorrect. However, if EMH do end. That will suck
