Nickelodeon Hotel

We're staying here for 2 nights, just since it's my brothers birthday. I'm the first to admit: I'm a disney snob, I refuse to stay off property. I told my parents to rent me a room at POP for those nights haha. (if you're wondering why, it's an OCD thing, hotels are hard for me and I trust disney.) After the first two initial nights we're going to stay at the Boardwalk. I was just wondering if anyone has stayed there? Is it as bad as the yelp reviews say? Don't sugar coat anything for me! :p

It's... interesting, but it's definitely not Disney.

Had to stay 2 days there once with a niece and nephew. IMO, that hotel is designed to egg kids on to misbehave. Maybe it's because of Nickelodeon's philosophy - "Kids rule!" - and the fact that your average Nick cartoon contains imbecilic adults and loud childlike idiots that scream all of the time and are mean to everyone. (There's one Nicktoon called Fairly Oddparents that has a green fairy in it who's the most contemptible creature in cartoon history. I'd happily send Maleficent after him). The hotel is kind of grimy, the food is McDonald's-level AT BEST, and the rooms make the garish value resorts at WDW look like the Sistine Chapel. Now this visit I'm speaking of was 3 years ago. I don't know if things have improved since then. But I wouldn't bet on it.

My wife and I stayed at the Nick Studios hotel for a weekend when our daughter was just over a year old (2 years ago). Our experience was (and if I had to write a TripAdvisor review on it), we wouldn't trip over ourselves to stay there again. It didn't exactly leave a lasting impression.

You MUST go there with the mindset that it is NOT DISNEY! We have stayed there several times when my son was between 6-9 and loved it because HE loved it. It's like Spring Break for elementary school kids- crazy and LOUD, but that's the point. The rooms are great- very spacious. There's a Barney's (think Starbucks), but otherwise the food is meh.

I stayed there probably at least 5 years ago when Holiday Inn still owned it. It was just okay. Water play areas were fine nothing great. Recently I read reviews on hotels.com that were bad. Apparently it has changed owners and some people mentioned hidden fees so I decided to stay away!

I have had a number of friends stay there in recent years. Based on their opinion of the place I would pitch a tent on the side of I-4 before I stayed there.

Friends of mine stayed there six or seven years ago and I visited it. It was very kid-oriented and the kids had a wonderful time with the characters and at the pool. Seemed nice enough back then, but haven't been there in years.
