Hollywood Hotel is NOT AT ALL like the Ambassador Hotel. I think they made the right choices in Chinese interests. The Chinese are facinated with America, so what better way to give them the best than with Hollywood and Grand Floridian style. - The WeirdOne :D

Yeah, you've got a point. They could have designed another type of modern hotel though. I don't know. Something American but one that hasn't been done yet. Like maybe a giant ranch or something.

I guess I was speaking generally.
Art Deco is Art Deco to me.
I know what you mean. The Ambassador is alot nicer with the balconies and I can't tell from the picture but I think it's larger as well.
I think the MM windows in front (copied from the Tokyo monorail?) threw me off as well.

If you compare these two pictures (the first taken from http://www.earthetc.com/ecwearth/asps/ecwearth_frame.asp?Image=france_test/Mosaic01_balanced , the construction pic is from http://disneytheque.free.fr/hong kong disneyland/mars2004/index.htm ) you can see how tiny HKDL is going to be compared to Disneyland Paris.

Hey, thanks for the research.
Wow it looks about 1/2 the size of DLP at best.
That's pretty sad.

Can someone tell me the square acres inside the berm at each Disneypark?

The reason is, parks improve. Now if the area inside the berm is really really small, then that is bad. But if there is room, then ok.

I remember Disneyland being built very cheaply. And it had to be done cheaply but look how much it has evolved.

I don`t have figures to hand, but DLP is easily the biggest of all 4(5) Magic Kingdoms. So big only Storybookland and Buzz`s cafe have been built ouside the berm since opening. IASW, Star Tours, HISTA and half of PotC were designed straddling the RR tracks from day one - unlike the more common idea of expanding outside the berm.

Not sure how accurate, but I found this:

Project Name: Hong Kong Disneyland
Location: Overlooking the water at Penny's Bay, and on a main transit route from the new Hong Kong International Airport, the project will position Lantau Island as a world-class tourist destination and will take advantage of the location's easy access by rail, highway and ferry to attract guests to the Park.
Size: 126 Hectares
Targeted Opening: 2005

Note: The project overview encompasses the initial phase of the development. The resort site has potential for future development.

Note that 126 hectares are only 311 acres- less than 10% the size of Euro Disney.
