Muppet Mini-Land At DHS

This would be a somewhat easy expansion to do for "Muppets Studios" land in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Now when they have the names it would be: Sunset Boulevard, Pixar Place, (whatever the entrance is), Streets of America, Muppet Studios, and Animation Courtyard. This is would only take one actual new ride but this land would be very interactive:

First off: Update Muppet-Vision so that it is a show and every show has a different combination (Gonzo does 1 out of 10 stunts, etc.).

Add a Whatnot Workshop in the Studio store and name it "Muppetational Store" (or something like that)

Re-Locate Pizza Planet and add in The Swedish Chef restaurant. This would be an interactive restaurant like never before. Remember when you had pizza at a pizza parlor and would watch the cooks make the pizza? Well when you order from the kid's menu, you can go to a special "window" (it's really a screen) and be entertained by watching Swedish Chef make YOUR food. (I've mentioned this before)

Take out the italian restaurant next to Muppet-Vision and make it into a Kermit and Miss Piggy meet and greet. (With the puppets and not life size figures)

Replace the Disney Pixar Pals Parade with a Muppet Madness parade of the following:

First Three Floats: It would start off with a few muppet whatnots and not as popular muppets in the first three floats coming down. Has Sweetums and other large Muppets walking and a float have Rowlf on the piano. Floats are themed to a theatre. MUPPET SHOW THEME playing.

Fourth Float: It would have the Snorks and Mahna Mahna in the float. Mahna Mahna pops out of different areas of the holes (like Whack-A-Mole saying Mahna Mahna) guests are encouraged to say Mahna Mahna too. MAHNA MAHNA playing.

Fifth Float: Scooter and all his production people singing. In a backstage themed float. MR. BASSMAN playing.

Sixth And Seventh Float: Muppet Babies float. It's like a really big crib. I'M GONNA ALWAYS LOVE YOU playing.

Eighth and Ninth Float: Has Pops and everybody else from the scene in "The Great Muppet Caper" of the hotel. Floats are themed to hotel. HAPPINESS HOTEL is playing

Tenth and Eleventh Float: Fozzie in a large studebeaker with Gonzo's plumbing truck following behind him. MOVING RIGHT ALONG is playing.

Twelfth Float: The Electric Mayhem bus is driving by. CAN YOU PICTURE THAT? is playing

Thirteenth and Fourteenth Float: Walter is on float that says SmallTown USA with humans of Gary and Mary. LIFE'S A HAPPY SONG is playing

Fifteenth And Sixteenth Float: All the Muppets are making their big finale. With Kermit on his banjo with Miss Piggy. RAINBOW CONNECTION is playing.

Now the only big construction part would be building a new dark ride "The Great Muppet Movie Ride".

In the link I will post below has a picture of the aerial view diagram.

Blue - The Great Muppet Movie Ride
Pink - Swedish Chef Restaurant
Yellow - Kermit and Piggy Meet and Greet

a few tweaks for your concept:

1) there is no room in the proposed Muppet parade actually in Muppet land so therefore if your parade would take place on the same path as the pixar parade (as the proposal suggests), it would be nowhere near the Muppet attractions

2) closing down one of the best restaurants in the park for a meet and greet would be a bad idea. Perhaps it could be re-themed to a place paying homage to the human guest stars of muppet shows and movies in the past, still keeping the same menu and interior feel, it fits well with the area. plus there would be room for meet and greets in the location where you remove the cars M/G.

3) you went into no detail about the largest and most important addition to the land, care to elaborate?

4) when listing the lands you forgot Hollywood blvd, echo lake, and commissary lane.

5) i had a similar idea about the restaurant with Swedish chef working the back and they had a sort of Muppet talent show going on for entertainment, where they could cycle through a bunch of different characters doing their thing throughout the day. this would work a lot better then a m/g i believe because A) it preserves the magic better as you can have better blocking in a stage show, and B) your not paying master puppeteers to sit under a table and talk to kids all day (which might not even be feasible) and instead giving them exact show times to maximize profits and show quality.

6) more Muppet merchandise and Muppet specific merchandise only in the land

How about instead of changing the Italian restaurant to a meet and greet, how about retheming the originally planned ( I think) Gonzo's Pandemonium Pizza Parlor? Wouldn't a statue of Gonzo flying with Rizzo trying to catch him (or something like that) with Camilla and a bunch of other chickens around him at as the centerpiece be cool? Oh, wouldn't be funny if it spit cheese all over the place? Something weird like that, it's Gonzo's restaurant. :)

that sounds great, you could do that in the Italian restaurant and bring something else into the pizza planet location, possibly a show where you see the actual Muppets perform in real life, that gives you the live show, the 3d experience, great muppet movie ride, and themed restaurant, plus make your own muppet at the muppet store, sounds like a winner to me :).

Thanks! Now, for that talent show idea; that could really work! How about we have real Whatnots in the audience (or other Muppets) to make the show really cool! And how about we use a similar idea that they used for Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor where you text the jokes to a number and Fozzie uses them in the show! WDI, here we come!

I like the texting idea but having Muppets in the audience wouldn't work, you would be able to see the puppeteers.

Okay, so here's the attraction list:

  1. The Great Muppet Movie Ride
  2. Muppet Vision 4-D (with the Muppets meet 'n greet)
  3. The Muppets' Talent Show! (with the Swedish Chef's Culinary Catastrophe Cafe; like the name?)
  4. Gonzo's Pandimeioum Pizza Parlor
  5. Muppetional Store
  6. Muppet Madness! Parade

no parade. it doesn't fit in the space, had design flaws i listed above, and would have a track in a totally different section of the park. so i would x the parade and instead add more interactive features throughout the miniland, this would be the perfect location if any to add them

Right. Now, that we have the "buildings" down, we should start Imagineering some interactive features, like you said. I looked at the concept art, and I saw some sort of radio tower, probably the news Muppet's. Anyone have input?

Thanks! Now, for an interactive concept, maybe Electric Mayhem could have interactive shows maybe 2-3, maybe even 4 times a day! Oh, and how about some sort of "Muppets Newsflash" where the Newsman appeared on a giant screen and report random (and sometimes fake) news stories where you're the victim or winner or star!

I love the Newsflash! That's really clever.

I once came up with a Muppet land that included facades with windows in which Muppet heads would pop out and randomly start singing famous Muppet songs and interacting with guests. For example, Statler and Waldorf would sit on a balcony and start critiquing guests' clothing as they passed. It would sort of look like Sesame Street I suppose, without the Sesame Street characters of course. There'd also be windows along the streets filled with different gags and such, and you could interact with doors and pull ropes, etc like in DL's Toontown.

bahaha that would be amazing, and a walk around snookums and some of the other larger characters as well. i dont think I would ever leave that part of the park.

I second that, great idea. :ROFLOL: The Statler and Waldorf idea is great, maybe take that and also put something it while taking a seat in Muppet*Vision 4D (I know it's 3D, but for today's technology, it should be 4 opposed to 3) hey, anyone up for drawing concept art and/or a map? That would be great! :D
