Although, i know the ride is still alive at Disneyland... I sincerely miss the Walt Disney World version of it. As a kid, I enjoyed this ride as much as any and every other Fantasyland ride at the Kingdom.

but...you know how the story goes.

Heh, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is a wonderful ride to replace it, i gotta say. But as a guy, and...most specifically a boy back in 1996... I would feel 20 times cooler riding the crazy buggy, Merilly on our way, dodging trains and walls alike than taking a stroll down the 100 acre woods.

yep, I was also a big fan of the ride, mostly because of the nostalgia.

I don't know how old you are, but a couple of the real world problems with toad was that its technology was outdated and, let's face it, toad merchandise can't compare with Pooh.

Toad was fine for 1971, but going into the 21st century, two dimensional "cardboard cutouts" of weasels and policemen weren't going to do, and if you are going to have to spend major money to rehab the ride, why not go with a classic that everyone knows - one that allows you to sell tee shirts, plushies and sparkle purses?

It is hard for me to stay mad about Toad closing because the little kids absolutely love Pooh. Don't get me wrong, if it were MKCP 1985 World, Mr. Toad would ride on!

i don't remember the ride at all:confused:
here is something from Widen Your World
There were only a few other changes as a result of the 1993 rehab. Some of the three-dimensional animation didn't appear to function any longer: Moley in Toad Hall didn't tip his hat, the statue of Toad no longer swayed precariously on its pedestal and the smaller Toad statue on Cyril's hoof in Town Square had also ceased to spin in circles. Many of the interior scenes were repainted to give off a more radiant black light glow. For a moment in time the cars bumped over "railroad ties" when first enterting the train tunnels, but that effect was quickly retired. Finally, the ride's original entrance facade and sign were rebuilt with a slightly more elaborate appearance and in the year that followed the reopening of the ride, decorative planters were added to both sides of the main entrance arcade. The last of the discernable modifications to Mr. Toad's Wild Ride took place in 1995 and 1996 when the music in the Load area and Toad Hall was updated to match the Disneyland Toad song. If it weren't for the new vehicles, though, most people wouldn't have known the ride was altered in any respect from its original version.

I always LOVED it because it was the only attraction in all of Disney that you actually went to hell at the end...

R.I.P. Mr. Toad.

I agree as well. I went to Disneyland a ton as a kid and it was definitely one of my favorite rides -- I went there on a vacation not too long ago and rode it...I felt like a kid again!
