Paint the night is not moving to Disney World. Stop bumping this.

A friend of mines brother, legitimately lol, is a parade performer at DL. He is also starting to hear Paint will either be going to DCA, by flatbed, or returning to DL for the holidays. Sure isn't sounding like Paint is leaving the west coast... not this year anyway lol.

That would be pretty awesome to see MSEP in DL then go right across the esplanade and see PtN. And what a night time line up! Those two parades coupled with WoC and Fantasmic 2.0 plus whatever new firework show they are likely working on...

I strongly believe MSEP does indeed have a date with the dumpster after summer. Sad but it's time. Sure wasn't time for Spectro but we won't go there!

If PTN is actually moving to DCA, it makes me wonder two things...

1. Will DL continue to run MSEP? Or would they not have a night parade and just go with fireworks and Fantasmic! at night.

2. Would the daytime Pixar parade continue to run at DCA? If not, is there any possibility of it being shipped to WDW so that DHS can run a daytime parade? I know there was a rumor a few years ago about that parade going east and certainly DHS could use the extra entertainment.

Parade float motors are not designed to climb steep hills. There is no road between the two parks that a parade float could physically fit through, in addition to the steep hill down into the tunnel that is part of the DCA "backstage" access road.

To get the floats from the north side of Disneyland to the south side of DCA, you would need to box them up and move them via flatbed trucks. The surface streets from Ball Road down Disneyland Drive have numerous hills, overpasses and underpasses that a parade float is not capable of climbing.

They have never moved a parade float between Disneyland and DCA before without transporting it on flatbed trucks, after some disassembly.

I actually didn't know that, thanks for the info.

In this scenario, MSEP would at best become a seasonal offering for DL. Ideally, it will be lit on fire like it should have been a long time ago.

Pixar Play would continue at DCA until its replacement is ready. I don't know if there has been any thought of moving it to WDW. Back in the Anne Hamburger days the plan was to start moving parades all the time, with Parade of Dreams heading to MK and PPP heading to DHS or WDS. Anne Hamburger is gone, and the only parade that got to see her plan come to fruition was Block Party Bash, which WDW destroyed (like it does everything. Maybe that's why no one wants to loan them parades?).

WDW management seems perfectly happy to leave DHS without a day parade. I don't see why that would change any time soon.

So, let's put things into an easy-to-follow format:

  1. WDW has a well-known tendency/habit of destroying parade floats, or at least returning them in a condition that is close to destroyed
  2. WDW has no float maintenance facilities, and essentially runs parade floats into the ground
  3. WDW parade floats, loaned or otherwise, wind up in extremely poor shape, if they survive at all (MSEP, BPP... See: #2. See also: Spectromagic)
  4. TDA has spent a bunch of $$$ to refurb PTN
  5. TDA will now loan PTN to WDW, while knowing all-too-well about items #1 and #2
Who in blue blazes thinks that #5 will happen in this or any universe, with any intellectual honesty??? Oh, wait...

"Yeah, Davison hated Spectro, but it was still a good parade. Needed a technology upgrade instead of a trip to the landfill."

Can't take someone seriously who doesn't know what actually happened to Spectromagic.

Sorry but say what you want this person knew when the Happily ever after and rivers of light announcement was coming. I believe him more also how does this prove that he doesn't know what happened to spectromagic? A trip to the landfill is what happened I would love you hear you're story. Spectromagic still could of been fixed they just were cheap at the time also it would take some (alot) cash to fix it.

It's quite confirmed by numerous people that SpectroMagic ended up in the landfill. So, I'm not sure what you're saying the person who tweeted that info doesn't know.

Thank you, that's an excellent summary of this topic.

What I've always found interesting is that little, tiny Disneyland Resort has dedicated parade maintenance facilities, a track record of taking very good care of their stuff, and three large parade storage warehouses at its two parks. And in a very dry, mild climate that is easy on machinery and equipment.

And yet massive WDW Resort with its four parks and the blessing of size has no dedicated parade maintenance facility, a track record of not taking care of their stuff, and stores parade floats in temporary tents for years. In a very wet, humid climate that is abusive to machinery and equipment. It's baffling.

They seem to be maintaining FoF, no?
