Right now, Iam sitting at my laptop at Coronado Springs enjoying the evening amid the Magic. Yes, I know, I tend to stay away from anything below a deluxe, but this trip was designed around my family and we all had to stay at a moderate, but I will say, CS has been a wonderful resort, and I just might stay here again. But, lets get to some of ole Jimmy's insight of the parks.

* The new Fantasyland expansion looks amazing!!! The level of detail blows away anything I have seen at any theme park anywhere. Potter is not this good, but the Universal fanboi's will cry foul. If you can possibly get to see it before it opens, you have to seen it while it still has that intimate feel.

* Bad part of Fantasyland expansion? The LeFous Brew is disgusting. Cool mug though.

* Pepper Market at Coronado Springs has the best breakfast on property, bar none.

* On every frosty beverage I have consumed, I have had Disney themed paper cups with not only Disney World printed on them, but the characters as well. I even had a napkin with a bright red Disney Parks in Disney script. My toilet paper is plain white though, so Disney still is cutting corners.

* If you stay for Wishes at the MK, take the bus there, DO NOT take the monorail. We stayed until the end at MK tonight and the monorail had a queue that was from the top where you board all the way down to bag check with a bunch of zig-zags along the way. On look at that and I jumped on the swift resort launch to the GF and Poly. Ole Jimmy parks at Poly. :)

* Don't see where the doom and gloom sharpen their axes about the parks being this run down favela, lurve to break it to them, its not. Parks are clean and crisp. I did notice a stain on the concrete by my cabana door when I got here and called the front desk and after I showered it was gone. I wonder if the D&G crowd will see how that works. Nah. I doubt it.

* People are getting excited about Transformers coming to Universal Orlando? A recycled ride from the west coast? Can't Universal do better? Speaking of which, rode the Mummy and the queue looked like crap, worse than Buzzlightyear. The ceiling didn't even start on fire. Can we start a declining by degrees for Universal?

All and all so far, the trip has been fantastic. The people have been great and the weather perfect. There is like no humidity right now and the nights are warm enough to go swimming. Speaking of which, time to break out the Speedo.

More all week, all of it honest truth.

Jimmy Thick- Yup, the haters are lying to you!!!

Thank you for your update. I have stayed at Coronado Springs before and had a great stay. The Pepper Market is great and was so happy with all of the selections. I appreciate the review of LeFous Brew but hopefully I will enjoy it. It is actually one of the things I am looking forward to. I hope you and your family continue to have a wonderful time for the rest of your visit!

It does look VERY good, yes (ignoring the massive construction project that will be in the center of it for another year and a half), but it really is mostly just rockwork that makes it beautiful. I wouldn't say it has the level of detail of Potter or Cars Land. Both of those have visual cues and reminders and subtle touches from top to bottom to remind you that you are in a very specific setting. New Fantasyland is just supposed to be a generic fantasy setting (obviously), so it lacks those touches. To me it feels too open and not the least bit intimate.

Cars Land trumps them both, either way.

The D&G complaints hardly have anything to do with park cleanliness...

At least its a recycled E-TICKET, and not a forgettable, "meh", D-ticket recycled from DCA!
Speaking of which, rode the Mummy and the queue looked like crap, worse than Buzzlightyear. The ceiling didn't even start on fire. Can we start a declining by degrees for Universal?
Can guarantee the fire effect was fixed the next day (and I can personally confirm it was working just a few days ago), which is more than you can say for the ever growing, mile long list of effects on WDW attractions that go months, YEARS without being fixed, or are just shut off permanently because "they're just tourists - what do they know?" What was wrong with Mummy's queue? Are you talking about trash in the queue? Or theming? Because actual themed sets will always be better than toy batteries painted on the walls.

Just out of sheer curiosity, what did you think of MK's new Little Mermaid attraction?
Nice, yes?

While we're on the subject, how do you feel about: POTC, HM, Splash Mtn, Soarin', Jungle Cruise, IASW, Peter Pan's Flight, Dumbo, BTMR, ..?

Few quickies...

* Resort wide WiFi is hit or miss. For a cell phone in the parks, especially waiting in line, its fantastic, sitting in your room trying to upload things, terrible...

* Won't lie, I have noticed a few rude cast members, mostly in MK. Saw a cast member call some guy a idiot out loud when they parked 5 rows away from them when parking at Epcot. Some cast members went to that car but I did not stay to watch.

* I have yet to notice any children peeing at the Casey area. The area is themed beautifully and there is a lot of water getting spewed. Saw a bunch of small children get drenched, but I did not see children peeing. You don't think the D&G are lying about the area being a huge toilet?

Really?

Jimmy Thick- Um, yeah......

Which section of Coronado Springs is your room in? I have stayed there a few times. I really enjoyed my rooms in the Cabanas section, but one trip I stayed at the Casitas and hated it and it felt dramatically lower in quality. (Coke machines had very old signage, elevators not working, etc.)

Great update!! I'll add that on a recent visit to universal (less that 3 weeks ago) that there were several effects not working on several attractions including forbidden journey. It just goes to show that no theme park is perfect. I'm lucky that I get to visit both resorts at least once a month so I can see with my own eyes what a few post on here as being fact is far from it lol.

Coronado Springs is nice.

As for the Mummy...idk what queue line you were standing in, but when I was in line on Tuesday it looked great! Also noticed the new projections in the ride, and the fire was working.

FLE is very nice to look at, but lacking substance. It's definitely not at the level of Wizarding World of Harry Potter or Cars Land...but still pretty good.

What's up with the WDW resort wifi? I had problems with it in MK last week, but in previous visits as well as in the waterparks, no problem.

I've come to the realization or maybe conclusion that the perception of WDW is greatly determined by how often you visit.

For somebody like me and my family, that visit every 2 years, we have always found it amazing, fun and yes even "magical". For those that visit several times a year maybe you have more time to pick up on the bulbs that are not lit or the paint that is peeling. For the locals that may visit several times a month or even several times a week - I can see why there is more angst and urgency about getting more "E-tickets" and more attractions. I imagine that even WDW can start to get a bit stale after dozens of visits in a short period of time. I'm sure I would feel the same way.

Unless the que has fallen into complete disarray in the last 2 months, I have no idea what Jimmy was looking at. Looked absolutely spotless to me in August.

That's not a gotcha, that is Jimmy's very point!

He makes this very point about people who criticise Mermaid and Cars Land at DHS for being clones, by kindly pointing out the great number of cloned rides everywhere in Orlando. For example, the Transformers ride, another clone, but presented as an example of Uni moving the market forward by many of the same people who criticise WDW for cloning rides.

Bravo!!!

Jimmy Thick- Yes, some people get it without an explanation.
