Jawa Trading

I know that there's so many threads and people saying that HS has so much closed, but for my son it is the place he keeps asking about.
His cousins and friends have been coming back since Spring Break and summer talking about all of the "Awesome Star Wars Stuff!", so he keeps begging me to take him to see Kylo Ren, Stormtroopers, and trade with a Jawa. He still has no idea that we are going. :)
Nice surprise for him! We give HS a morning, but have hopes for it after SW opens. Not so sure about TS- doesn't look appealing or an area we would like to spend much time in. But, it's better than half the park being closed and there's hope for more to come.

HS is only open from 9-7 on our week. I'm hoping we have time to hop to Epcot, but with Jedi Training Academy, rides, Launch Bay, Minnie's Holiday Dine, and hopefully a Star Wars desert party if they extend the fireworks.. I don't even know if we'll have time to hop.

I am thinking we are going to have the same problem. And I think we are going earlier than you as the park is suppose to be open until 8:30. However closing time may change as have just noticed AK closing has been pushed back from 7:30 until 9:00. So, other times may change.

We are going to be at HS on DS's birthday and both he and DD are big Star Wars fans. I have tried to make a plan for the day and there is no way we are going to be able to do everything at HS. This besides lots of others saying this is a half day park. However, it all depends upon your interests. We plan on doing the same as you, with the exception of the desert party, and taking in some of the shows. Actually thinking of skipping the Great Movie Ride in order to allow more time for the other interests which include the Indy show, Muppets and Toy Story Mania. We will also have to choose between the two fireworks shows.

I hope the hours change for you.

Just wanted to bump this and hear from people who have been recently.

Any new tips?
Friends and I went on Sept 10 and the Jawas weren't trading that day, according to their CM escort. We were a little disappointed, but we were given lots of hugs and had a cute photo taken with them. Definitely meet them if you have the time, trading or no trading. :)

We had a lot of fun trading with the Jawas last week. I had read on another site that the Jawas were attracted to shiny things. DGS offered a couple of the souvenir coins given to kids at POFQ. Both the Jawas got very excited by these. I offered them one of those flexible, glow in the dark, light sticks that the kids make into bracelets and necklaces. We each got a droid part in return. And they were happy to pose for a photo after the trade.

We brought things like a brand new star wars themed pencil, not yet activated glow stick bracelet in a star wars theme, those little lights you can attach to your finger via little rubber bands, sheets of stickers etc. I believe whatever you trade with them they trade with someone else as time goes on so we tried to pick things some other child might like to receive.

One funny thing I did was I had my baby try to trade a (new clean) diaper with them. The Jawa ran away shaking its head. As the baby would continue to hold out the diaper the Jawa was hiding its head, emphatically waving its arms etc. It was funny and everyone around was laughing.

I was just there last week with my 19 month old daughter. She had two of the dollar store glow in the dark bracelets that she traded them for droid parts as well.

We were there in September and my biggest fail was I left the special pins we received when we saw a special screening of 'The Huntsman' in our room. We scrambled to find something in our backpack but came up empty. The didn't like markers and the CM mentioned they also don't trade for real money/coins.

Will they take fake coins? I have a ton of them from a Pirate birthday party of my son's a few years ago.

I am not sure. It won't hurt to bring them along and see. The worse thing they can do is shake their heads as they did to us. May be a good idea to bring a number of items, depending on what kind of mood they are in. We weren't able to trade with them, but the kids were able to have a picture with them.

I found a tote bag at the dollar store with a picture of the jawas on it that I have proceeded to "embellish" with sparkle paint etc. Found a light up ball and day after Halloween found some small light sabers (like 5 inches). I plan to put all the junk in tge tote bag with some Mardi Gras beads and let them have at it. I REALLY REALLY hope they are trading the day we go!
