Well I was thinking it was a bit too early to do a pre trip report but looking at others, 80 days to go doesn't seem so bad.
Anyway, this is going to be my first proper trip report. I tried to do one when I first joined this forum but it had been a while since we had been and the details were sketchy so I never got to finish it. If you want to take a gander at the pictures, they're here: http://s4.photobucket.com/user/swazzle2000/library/America?page=1
First, I will explain the title. Basically for this trip we needed a way to save some serious ££££ for le Disney trip. I didn't want to have to go without more or less anything (food, souvenirs etc) so I employed the use of a jar for savings. It became known as Clare and James Disney Fund Jar (pictured below). It's amassed in a little over 6 months £2200 from spare change and cash we would have otherwise frittered away on useless stuff. So I would advise anyone who is saving for a Disney trip to get a jar! It is awesome.
Meet the cast:
My name is Clare, I'm 24 and live in the sunny town of Birmingham, United Kingdom. I'm a dental nurse by day and a novice photographer. I've been in love with Disney since I was little and grew up watching the Lion King, Pinocchio, Sleepying Beauty etc. More recently I've taken to learning more about the man behind the brand, Walt, and tend to bore everyone to death with facts. My first visit to the World was in 1997.
James is my lovable husband. He's 33 and I wouldn't say he was anti Disney, he just prefers white knuckle rides than It's a Small World (which was closed the last time we went! Gah!). He is a Denture Technician and this will only be his second visit to the World. We last went for our Honeymoon in 2010 and he looks pretty happy on the photos so I'm hoping he will enjoy it all the more this time round.
A few pics from our honeymoon:
My mom, Yvonne, 60 (if you can believe it) and works as an accountant. She's one of the few who will sit there and listen to all my Disney facts and actually take them in. My mom hates AL big roller coasters. Her limit is usually the Mad Hatters Teacups, but she has assured me this time she will attempt more rides than usual. She first visited the world with my dad in 1988, when I was growing in her belly. I've uploaded some of their first Disney snaps into the 1971 - 1999 Picture thread, so go and take a gander. Also joining us will be my dad, Clive, 63 and loves all the white knuckle rides also but appreciates the finer things about Disney. I think this is mainly why we are going as a family this year because my mom doesn't really want to go on all the big rides, so we can go on with my dad. This is also their 5th trip to the World.
They haven't been since 2004 so I'm very excited to show them all the changes that have happened since.
1997:
Our wedding, 2010.
So, we're in the sunny state of Florida from the 21st June until the 5th July. I'm a bit skeptical of the old July 4th day but I'm planning on visiting a water park that day, so if anyone thinks that's a bad idea, please let me know.
We're staying offsite (as usual) at the Enclave Suites which are situated not far from I-Drive. We like staying on or near I-Drive because we don't drive in the states, and it's just easier for us to get about. It's within walking distance to Uni, and we have a complimentary shuttle service to the parks. I'd love to stay on site but it's just expensive and it's so hard to get off site if you don't drive. We tried the Lynx buses last trip and it took us 4 hours to get back to the hotel after going to Blizzard Beach. Not something I want to have to repeat.
This year as well for the first time, we have ADRs booked! We've had counter service before but I decided this year I wanted to actually have a nice sit down meal for once on site, so very excited for that!
Here's our plan for the 14 days we are staying:
Fri 21st: Travel
Sat 22nd: Rest
Sun 23rd: Epcot and we have an ADR at the San Angel Inn at 6.30
Mon 24th:Typhoon Lagoon
Tues 25th: DHS and an ADR at the Sci Fi Dine in at 6.30
Weds 26th: MK and an ADR at the Liberty Tree Tavern at 6.30
Thurs 27th: Epcot
Fri 28th: Rest
Sat 29th: AK
Sun 30th: USF/IOA
Mon 1st: USF/IOA
Tues 2nd: MK
Weds 3rd: DHS
Thurs 4th: BB
Fri 5th: Rest / travel
Now, there's a strong possibility that some of those rest days will be converted into park days. Rest days are basically just a day round by the pool, but I think I'll be itching to get to the parks too bad. I can't believe I have to wait until the Weds to visit the MK, so I might go to DHS on the morning, get us some TSMM FP and then head over to the MK for a few hours. I've just gone with what Touring Plans are stating to be the busiest days at which park. I just hope they're somewhat correct. It's like I can't imagine we will spend a whole day at AK either, so that day might also be a afternoon of UNI or something.
I've never planned like this, as we used to just decide what parks we were going to on the plane over but all these crowd calendars have got me worried! Plus with the ADRs you have to plan a little.
So yeah, I can't wait! I'm looking forward to doing my first full trip report for you all. Though inbetween now and then we may be moving house, so I may be a complete stress head up until the day we go. Yipee!
