Injuries for Character Performers!

Hello everyone!

I recently have been accepted into the DCP as a Character Performer! I couldn't be more ecstatic. That being said, I recently broke my wrist!

I leave 5 weeks from now, and the doctor said it would only take four weeks to heal, but my worry is my job will be forfeit if I have to get down there and they see a cast on! This job is my dream and I will be devastated if I lose it this way.

Am I being paranoid? Any thoughts?

I would call casting and speak to someone who knows the rules. They can't fire you for having a broken wrist, but they could relocate you if you can't perform as they need you to. Whether that would be permanent or temporary is up to them of course.

If it takes 4 weeks to heal, and you leave in 5 weeks, I wouldn't worry. Casting might reassign you to another role if you tell them now... just wait it out.
