It's completely inovative, and very bizarre. I'm curious, though. I mean, it obviously seems it'll get some getting used to, but at the same time the possibilities are mind-boggling. I do think that the end of simultaneous releases to all systems is over, though. I don't see how a third-party game can be developed without serious changes to cope for this. At the same time, the exclusive games are sure to be very impressive. All in all, can't wait!

Thats one reason why im not getting a nintendo system anymore, it looks ugly. theres no way you can play a game with that controller.

Well, personally, I don't care if it's ugly, I wanna play good games. And if that new controller is an indication that there'll be some exciting games coming on, I say bring them! I won't get a Revolution blindly like I did with the Cube. I mean, I knew what I wanted with the Cube and I knew it'd provide it. But this, when they release it, I hope stores will have one out for you to try. I wanna handle it before opening my wallet.

closed minded much? <img src="http://forums.wdwmagic.com/images/smilies/1.gif">

"it looks ugly"
show me one controller on the market today that look "beautifull" or even "non ugly". the design of these controllers evokes the Apple iPod in its elegant simplicity. What, pray tell, is so "ugly" about it? its pure white (or other color) and has a very clean design. i think its very attractive

"theres no way you can play a game with that controller"
did you even TRY to watch the videos? this controller is the most versatile input device for a game console ever. you can use it like a gun (it has a built in light gun), you can use like a sword or tennis racket, you can tilt it like a 3D mouse for FPS games (and plug in a second unit for your other hand), you can turn it sideways like an old N.E.S. controller. heck, you can even use it left or right handed. Now, after hearing all of this, would you like to actually back up your claims with something this time? ANYTHING? cuz you didn't even try in your post

i'm not a Nintendo fanboy, i haven't owned a Nintendo console since the original 8-bit NES, my only console currently is the X-Box. i couldn't care less about the xb360, it doesn't inspire me. But i definitely will buy the Revolution when it comes out.

OK, I am a Nintendo fan-boy, and I think it's awesome :D

Also, IGN are reporting that there will be a "shell" which that controller plugs into, which turns it into something more akin to a WaveBird.

I may even be able to get my Nan to play the next version of Mario Kart...

I've been afraid to see what this was going to look like for a while now, and I must say I am very pleasantly surprised. Me likie!

Plus for multi-platform games, they could use a GameCube controller. The Revolution has GC controller ports built in to the side of it.

All I have to say is Wow. This thing looks like it can be either good or bad but I am hoping for good. Now all we need to see is actual graphical capabilities.

OH! DEAR! What in the world is Nintendo thinking? Their market share is decreasing, slowly and slowly, unitl...NOTHING

Gamecube is dying a slow death (how many mario party games can a company release), and now Revolution looks to follow suit. Look, I love Nintendo's first party stuff...but this just looks bad. Why be different just to be different? Remember virtual boy?

The controller itself is not for the traditional gamer--it's for the Nintendo fanboy. Sorry, but holding a remote control in one hand and a breast pump in the other, just is not conducive for looking "normal." I wasn't planning on buying a revolution (its major selling point is that you can play OLD GAMES! HOORAY!), and now my decision is guaranteed. It seems that Nintendo is content to live in a world where being different is their only advantage. How about appealing to third party publishers so that they can actually make a lot of games? Gamecube's greatest fault is that there weren't enough great games to go around. Zelda only comes out once every three years. Not to mention, many developers were adverse to designing games for the gamecube strictly because of its lame controller.

360 is coming out too early (my PCis more powerful) and lacks a true Killer App. at this point. It has no system seller. So, I must say that PS3 looks the most promising at this point...

Why do you want to look normal? What is normal even? You certainly dont look normal with a pair of "Konga" drums between your legs bashing away, but it is immense fun.

Nintendo thrives at innovation and new ideas (that is why I like them so much). Then Sony comes in and copies them and the ideas hit the mainstream. Without being different there would be no point in Nintendo even exisiting.

(...and being able to turn of the console from the controller. It is a "Why hasn't somebody done this before?" moment) :)

But of course that is only what IGN thinks the shell will look like. I bet it will look nothing like a Gamecube controller.

Katamari Damacy would also be perfect for the Revolution.
