How much does Disney Social Media/TDO check on WDWmagic?

First of all, I would like to say hi to all the Disney Social Media and TDO people who check out WDWmagic.com on a regular basis. It's nice to know there are stalkers of Disney fan sites out there.

Second of all, how much do you think they actually check out this site? Is someone from TDO checking this site all the time?

I would guess they look occasionally to see what the crackpot fanatical knuckleheads are up to. I doubt very much if any of the complaining and criticism here effects anything they do on a daily basis. We are the 2-5% (max) and are dixie cups...if we fall into the trash can another one is ready to fall into our place.

I asked the 74' this once. He might have more perspective if he comes on here tonight or Lee or one of the other insiders.

I think it does get monitored, at least occasionally, though I'm guessing not all the time. Disney doesn't want to be cast in a negative light. And what you are talking about is something a lot of big companies too. There has been definitely a few I've wondered about as to whether they are plants. When someone absolutely seems to think Disney is practically perfect in every way, that usually at least sets off a flag. And 74' told me one time John Lasseter really did print out one of the threads on here (no idea which), and use it for talking points in a meeting.

most industries monitor internet communities...

But there is a huge difference between 'being read' and 'being taken seriously' - something all too many rabid fans fail to separate.

Reading everyone is about the Yeti still - or some new resturant - they'll note. Does that mean they hang on every word WDWfan1971FTW or some other random juiced fanboy or critic says? Nope

Monitoring communities is standard practice and used to keep a Pulse on things - more so then getting caught up in individuals or agendas.

But even when a specific example is cited - it's generally a point of 'example' rather than 'OMG, did you just hear TheMom was disappointed in FLE? What can we do to get TheMom back on board?'

It's just like any other business. When employees are bored and have time to kill, they surf the net and some come here to kill that time. No one comes here from Disney as a real or productive part of their job.

There are about 5 million posts on this forum about WDW. If you were working in the Internet marketing division of WDW, wouldn't you want to see what is being said? I would bet anything that there are Disney employees looking at this and other large forums as part of their job.

Ha... what a joke. '74 doesn't know... there are few, if any, plants on any of the fan forums, and it's VERY doubtful any threads are printed out for executives - unless it's for a joke.

At most, there may be a few entry level persons putting together reports of high level topics gathered from multiple sites.

You might be surprised, especially in this industry. I'm not proud of it, but I can tell you from negative personal experience with another park chain that they do keep an eye on it, although more for inappropriate CM comments and things like that. They do still read fan comments, but they don't sit as high up in priority as monitoring employees and employee related discussions.
