With 13.1 for Avengers, I'm up to 385.7

[In a panic, I went back to verify that I had gotten all my miles and realized that I 'lost' 10 miles when I added 2014's Dumbo. The above number is the corrected one, which explains why it's a bigger jump than expected]

Since @Texas84 asked...shouldn't your 9 marathons be 235.8? Bringing the total to 453.3? :geek:

Looks like I have some catching up to do! Anybody know where I can find about 70 Disney miles between now and Marathon Weekend? :angelic:

Sure, I guess I added wrong. Wow, Ferret you are serious.

I had no idea those miles were racking up. I started this running deal on a whim because my family and I collect character pictures. Saw a pic of Hades from the 2006 marathon and decided we had to give this thing a whirl. My first time in 2007 was 5:45, mainly because I waited 20 minutes for Hades to come out in front of that big blue hat. He did and I have that treasured pic. Since then I have improved my time every year, I don't generally stop for characters and I have shaved a couple of hours off my times.

That's my story, but like I said on another thread, I am not getting any younger and it's harder to stay on point these days. I still love it, but I am probably winding down.

I like your starting story! That is funny.

I started on a whim too; back in 2007 I had read online that the "Disney Endurance Series" was running the Inaugural Tower of Terror 13K and 6.5K to honor and celebrate the Tower of Terror's 13th birthday (my absolute favorite ride). Because I wanted to go to WDW (and thought how neat to honor the ride), my sister and I convinced my parents to plan the trip so we could all participate in the run! The rest is runDisney history, as we pretty much exclusively only vacation during a runDisney Weekend. (And the occassional NYE! lol)

I totally would have trusted your math, but something about the way @Texas84 tagged me made me a little suspicious. And once I saw that you passed me, of course I had to double check and make sure that I had done everything correct on my end! ;)

I also registered for my first race on somewhat of a whim. I wanted to do something to stay active, but I knew that I wasn't motivated enough to convince myself to work out regularly and needed a big goal to work toward. So naturally I picked Goofy for that goal (with DL1/2 along the way as a reality check, since it was 'local' to me at the time), and I've been on running hooked ever since. My avatar photo was even taken (while moving!) during a Marathon Weekend 5K! :)
