On our next trip in March we are going to Resort Hop a weekend at Boardwalk,5 days at Saratoga, and then the next weekend at Beach Club.... WE have switched resorts once in a trip before but never twice.... Family of 6, 3 teenagers and one 10 year old..... So what do you think?? Can this be done without going nuts?

Our last trip (report linked in my signature) was 1 night each at Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Old Key West. No problems. Granted we are a party of 3 and we have our own car with us. This summer we are booked for Bay Lake Tower, Beach Club, and Old Key West spread over 12 nights and definitely looked forward to the different experiences. No going nuts at all.

We spent 5 nights at AOA then switched over to Pop for 2 nights in September. I will never do a split stay again! It was a pain in the rear to pack up & move. If I'm on vacation I want to get there unpack & stay unpacked until I have to leave!

On occassion I have had to move between a 1BR and Studio in the same stay because of availability. Its somewhat of a PITA due to getting yourself organized. I would maybe do one switch if its ten days or longer. Next month I am doing a DCL trip with BWV, DCL, then right back to BWV. I'm not looking forward to the packing and unpacking, but hey, its DIsney.

I love staying at more than one place during a trip. However, my family stopped doing 3 resorts per trip a while ago. You get to a resort, get settled, and then you move. It's very stressful. We've found the best way to do it is to spend a weekend at one resort, switch to another, and stay there for the rest of the trip. I would cut either Boardwalk or Beach Club from the trip. If you plan on swimming at all, cut Boardwalk and give yourself a few days at Beach Club. The pool there is the best. If you don't plan on swimming while there, cut Beach Club and do Boardwalk. The rooms at Boardwalk and Saratoga are nicer than over at Beach Club. Also, the Beach Club Villas often feel like an afterthought, so the service is better over at the other two. But I say cut one of those two if you decide to cut one simply to give yourself a different experience. They are literally across the bridge from each other, so you get the benefit of both while only staying at one. If you do it one at the beginning and one at the end of your trip, it might feel like a repeat.

Though I can't say I'm wild about Saratoga Springs. We don't like how far away from everything it feels, as well as that the resort is so, well, big. Did not like getting off of one bus only to have to wait for another. But the pool and the food was good there.

I'll be moving from OKW to FW this summer. We're there for a full 2 weeks, swapping about 10 days in, so it shouldn't be too much of an inconvenience. I did the BLT to DCL trip a couple of years ago. That was different though because we just packed an overnight bag for the BLT stay.

You have big kids so I think they can be a big help.

We are splitting between BLT and BWV this summer. We are excited to experience two different resorts in one trip. Packing/unpacking can be a pain and waste time during the trip but we just want two resort to have fun at.

We do it all the time. The staff does a great job of transfering the luggage and we have never had a problem. The only thing I will say is that sometimes it takes awhile to get your stuff so you might want to keep items that you may need (swim suits, clothes, etc).

I dont love switching resorts but will do it if i have too. Its not the switching I hate or the packing its the having to check back in and not have a room ready until later in the day. Once we did this and our room was not ready until 8pm at night. Granted we were in the parks for some of the day but that day I was feeling crappy and just wanted to rest in our room but could not.

We were just tangling with a similar issue this week. We decided at 4 months to go in June. (DVC members). We were able to get a week at Kidani, but really wanted something else. I worked the availability daily on the website and modified it. I had gotten it to 2 night in a BW view, 3 nights in a garden view at BW, then 2 night at VWL (3 rooms, 2 changes). I was OK with it, but it was not ideal. A room change in the same resort did not seem so bad. Then the 2 nights Garden view came open on the end. I must admit I was torn. I was looking forward to VWL again. But we decided to modify to 2 nights BW view and 5 night Garden view, so we do not have to change resorts.

As I sit here now, I am not so sure that my ideal choice would not have been to have a 3/4 split between BW view and VWL, and change resorts.

No thank you! The last time I hopped was 8 years ago from WDW to US and I found it to be a pain. Even 3 years ago going from a Disney cruise to WDW I hated the entire process. I like to get to my resort and unpack my clothing and relax. I know that all the resorts are great and different but one place at a time for me. I'd hate to waste my vacation tine packing and unpacking instead of going to a park or swimming at the pool.

But we do end up hotel snooping when we're on vacation and think about how nice each resort is and that maybe we should have stayed at a different one. Luckily we know we'll be back again soon. I also want to note that our trips are normally 6 nights but maybe if we stayed longer it would be easier to hop to other resorts.

I think it would be fun to resort hop but won't as long as we have the dining plan. I don't want to deal with two separate sets of dining plan points.

This was not our experience at all. We have resort hopped 3 different times. We pack everything up includng food and drinks, call bell services to pick up stuff and tell them where everything is going, and head to a park.

We get to the resort at some point during the day to check-in and once our room is ready, we call bell services to drop off everything.

No van, no waiting (unless you need to get in your room early), no problem.

We've booked last minute more than not and have to take what is available, which is ok because, hey we are at Disney! Usually it is only a 2 or 3 day trip when we've gone over the last 4 years because now living in Florida we can jump in the car and be at WDW in 90 minutes. Sometimes we have to split it up and if that is the case we keep calling, as late as that day of arrival to see if some cancellations may pop up for us to stay where we want and not have to split the resorts. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. In fact one trip we were booked at Bay Lake the first day and had to go to Saratoga for the next two days. When we checked in at Bay Lake we had an amazing Cast Member who, when we told him we really wanted to stay there all 3 days but had to split the reservation, he called the DVC center and worked his "magic" and got all 3 days for us at Bay Lake. Like I said, sometimes the Pixie Dust works.

If we have to split it we try to load up one end or the other. If we only get one day at the first resort we don't really unpack much so that it is pretty easy to check out in the am. You do waste time with the check-in stuff but if it comes down to a little bother or no trip, I'll take the bother!

My wife and I are Dvc members at BCV and just booked our trip for 14 days. Between the two of us we have been going to Disney for 25 years ad she has stayed at many resorts. I love the Beach club and that's why we bought there a couple years ago. She also loves the Beach club but wants to go back to her roots at VWL and I want to try AKL. But everytime we think about switching we don't want to leave the Beach. (Not just because we love it but also be cause of how close it is to Epcot and Hollywood and that we only have to do Buses to MK and Animal.) because this will be the longest trip to Disney we have taken since we went to disney for our honeymoon the topic of switching came up again. But I think we love the fact that the Beach club is like home and we would feel like we are missing out if we left...hard to explain. Anyone feel the same way? Also our parents are coming the first week with us and they are Dvc owners at Boardwalk so it's nice that we are so close but also separate lol. Hoping someone had some insight on the situation :)

I have hopped four resorts in a seven day stay. So long as you are not one of the people who strews your stuff all over the room it is nothing. Have stuff ready at night. Put it in car or bus. Check in new resort. park. Rinse repeat.
