I am interested in becoming an imagineer but I just don't know where to start. Can you explain how to get started, where to start? If anyone could give me some guidance I would truly appreciate it.

Okay go to college but what do I major in? I am not an engineer. I can not build anything. I am an artist with a crazy imagination. What about this contest for wannabe imagineers?

Imagineers do not have to come from any specific discipline.

The reality show statement hilarious.... So I could major in art and start from there. Do they have a school or anything in Walt Disney World that has to do imagineering?

I'm sure a lot of people maybe started in other types of parks, smaller venues. Maybe build up a reputation and a portfolio. I can't see too many people just going from nothing to Disney.

I do know that if you go to college there is a yearly contest that is run by Disney to find new Imagineers.

Other than that...I have interveiwed a lot of people about this, because it has always been my dream job.

I don't have engineering skills, by I do have several disciplines in the arts including script writing, theatre, set and prop design, puppetry, and graphic and illustration design work. I even did some design work for events at two theme parks.(one tiny, one pretty huge)

And just because I didn't go to school, everyone tells me that they wont even look at my resume.

Kinda sucks.

I completely agree with you... in 2010 its kind of a sham. Unfortunately its one of the necessary evils. A BA is completely watered down... I went to a pretty well respected and elite college and with all the debt that I carry I am constantly told that I need a higher degree to advanced my career. It's like how big of a hole do I have to dig for myself to get ahead? My aunt worked for 25 in retail customer service, she only has a HS diploma... she got laid off and she can't even get a job as a receptionist because she doesnt have a BA... really? to answer phones you need a 100-180K degree.
