I know this has been asked plenty of times before but it's probably been asked from people of many different ages. Anyways, I'm a 14 year old in 8th grade and my dream job is to be a Imagineer for WDI. Now, I obviously know this is a very tough job to get but I'm determined to get it one day. I want to know how I can become a Imagineer? Here's a link to the high school that I'm planning on attending to if you need it to se what courses I should take: http://www.marion.k12.fl.us/schools/wph/

I don't know what College I'm attending yet, but I know there is one college in California that offers a Imagineering course. I'm not saying that's the exact college I'll go to but I know its in California. Thanks for taking the time to read and trying to help me achieve my dream. :)

The big thing about being an Imagineer is following what you truly love. They will not higher someone who isn't truly in love with what they do. Don't force yourself to go into Architecture if you hate it because you want to be an Imagineer. They can tell and that will stop you. The think to remember is that Disney Imagineering can and will higher someone from any background. We tend to forget that their are it staff, English Majors, Librarians, and everything in between. It's no use having your dream job if you hate what you do at it. So remember that and follow your heart.

Wow, I never really thought of it that way. I love to write creatively like stories and short stories and love to make music with my guitar. Also, good luck on getting hired as an Imagineer.

What parts of imagineering would you like to seek? The first step into following a dream is to plan and learn. My dream is to become a pattasierre, and I know all about what it takes to become one. PLAN! You cannot just select a college and a highschool if you have an exact career you want. You really need to show Disney when its time, that've you've been preparing and have been heading straight towards this exact career. Lets say, you want to do audio engineering. Participate in your school theatre and do the audio. Go to camps, the thespian conference, attend the Disney college program, attend good college a with a degree in audio engineering.Go abroad to show Worldly interests, and to discover more about your career abroad. Show passion and create ideas.
Though this may not be the field you desire, you get the idea, right? Disney would also really prefer if you truely had a in depth understanding of what Disney is. They also don't like to hire fans. Meaning people who only want the job because the love Disney. Last but not least. My Aunt worked for Disney, and she claimed it had a terrible issues with hiring mostly friends and family. (Other companies do this to) However, this does not mean you cannot land a wonderful job at Disney, but you just need to prove it or select the right areas.

"It's kinda fun to do the impossible." Walt Disney

Walt Disney was hard worker himself and, this trait will most likely land you any job.

Tis a very true statement. Almost every company I know/worked for does this. They would rather hire someone in house or someone an employee knows then going straight out and getting someone off the streets. Doesn't mean this is impossible.

Look beyond Disney. A lot of fans think that knowing a lot about Disney will give them an edge, but it does not. There are lot of other companies doing great work and possibly even working with Disney. Being an official "Imagineer" will likely only become more difficult but that does not mean you cannot do the same sort of work elsewhere. The love really needs to be for the industry and medium, not just Disney alone.

Look up the Eddie Sotto threads. They're long but great. A few times Eddie discussed how he got to Walt Disney Imagineering and why he decided to leave.

I will agree with this. I dream of being an Imagineer because for me Disney parks played such a key role in my life when I was in a rough spot. It was my escape and inspired me. I wish to become an Imagineer to work on projects that inspired other people. While I apply to be an imagineer, I realize other opportunities and goals. And who knows what you might be doing now may be perfect for the industry later and you never realized.

I do not mean working in other industries. Why not work for another company that, for lack of a better word, does Imagineering for other companies, museum, parks, etc.?

I am agreeing but I was expanding on your point. I work in debugging of the SLBM program. When I took the job I didn't think that this would be an amazing skill to know, but know that I am in the process of trying to get in the "Imagineering" industry I realize what a positive effect my current job may have on that. I work in a position where I have to validate software works all the time 100% of the time, and i have to program tools to do this and break this systems to see what happens. This skill in retrospect is perfect for ride design and testing. That's what I meant by careers in other fields helping.

Hi, I wanted to know what opportunities there are for industrial design majors , and mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering majors in Imagineering? One of my biggest passions is drawing, and 3-D modeling; I want a job that I can implement that . What careers would you suggest I should take? I would appreciate if you could send me information about who I can contact in order to gain a better perspective. Email: abrahamp@iastate.edu

Thank you very much.
