I heard from somewhere that the new Spaceship Earth 4.0 is going to include the famous "New Horizons" song from the old epcot classic. You think Disney/Sieman's might be bringing Horizons' memory back in Spaceship Earth? It seems all I hear about this new SE concept revolves around the future, what EPCOT is all about. I hope it's true. Anyone hear something similar? Live on Spaceship Earth!

Celebrate the future by using a song from the 80's... makes sense! j/k I hadn't heard that, but it would be cool if it came to be true.

Would certainly be intersting...That old Horizons music was AWESOME!! I just hope they wouldn't shame the original with some sort of bad imitation.

Man, I don't even know what that song is but I would support it if it meant no more complaining about Horizons being removed 8 years ago....

I love that song. It seems to me they're trying to combine the story of SSE with the story from Horizons. I will support that. It's not as good as getting Horizons back, but anything that brings back some of those memories and concepts to the park is good to me as long as the story they're telling still makes sense and is powerful.

Horizons definitely has some fantastic music, so I'd support this. I found a very cool video where someone used Horizons music for Mission: SPACE. It works well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6s8ORBrqWw

And here's the original for anyone who doesn't remember... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGByAds2_AE Sorry it's the best video of Horizons I could find--music quality is good but the video isn't is missing some scenes.

It would definitely need a new orchestration to not seem so dated.

It really only belongs in the finale, though. For the rest of the ride, we need something else--I like the current, relatively dark score.

What is interesting is that WED and Ray Bradbury's original idea was to have Spaceship Earth be the "thesis paper" ride of Epcot Center. Meaning that it would tie all the other pavillions together and give guests a sense of what epcot's all about and what it hopes visitors will take away with them.

However when At&T signed on as a sponsor during construction the ride's premise shifted abit to focus more on communcation. Once Horizons opened, it essentially replaced SSE as the "thesis" ride for Epcot.

Then it closed and now Spaceship Earth's new theme is going to ironically go back to Bradbury and WED's original concept and now we are hearing about possible elements of Horizons coming in (which I guess is a good thing since Disney obviously won't build a new version of Horizons). It will be interesting how all of this history is going to come together.

Does anyone know where this rumor originated? I'm starting to see it pop up all over.

If true... how bizarre! Definitely something I didn't see coming. I hope that if it happens we get the story on *how* it happened... who had the idea and who signed off on it. Someone on the inside would have to be a fan.

Either way, this all seems to be good news. Someone, somewhere seems to 'get it' and SSE is going to get the TLC it's needed for years. All the postshow work really looks "old-EPCOT", very futuristic, and not at all tacky(!). I wonder who's leading the team on this rehab...

And I find it interesting that SSE does seem to be shifting from a communications-themed attraction to the 'thesis' attraction it was originally intended to be. So the themes of Horizons do seem to fit... I just hope the finale really pays off and is well integrated with the rest of the ride's style. I can't wait to see what they do!

(and yes, I will really miss the current music track. it's fantastic...)

Ouch...couldn't disagree more...the current musical score is friggin' amazing. The strong string works--gives me goosebumps.
I don't dislike "Tomorrow's Child" but I agree that the current score at the finale is great--I get the same goosebumps! Also there's something about how Irons's voice that fits with that music. There's something about the way Cronkite introduced the song by saying ..."for tomorrow...and tomorrow's child" that left me thinking he wasn't really into the script.

Does anyone remember if the original Perrin soundtrack had different music than the Cronkite version? I remember some of Perrin's narration but not anything about the music.

I'd also settle for just bringing back Tapestry of Nations...

That really is some of the best music... I wish they'd bring it back as well. It'd be nice some little detailed tributes in recognition of Epcot's past as they look ahead to the future.

Regardless of rumor, I have faith that the end result will be phenominal. Now if they'd just finish it... :)

Maybe they can find a way to combine some of Horizions old score (If we can dream it etc...) with the current score. I really love the current score, but also love Horizions old score. A mixture of both would be nice.

Perrin didn`t have that much `music` in a song sense; it was more `jingles` that sounded like a musical triangle up in 180top. The howling and synth effects were very prominent in the ascent tunnel - and were kept throughout the Cronkite version too.

It'd be awesome to get to smell the oranges AND Rome in the same attraction!! Olfactory Memories!

Can anyone post a link to a site where this rumor is mentioned? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Horizons was definitely my favorite attraction while it was open. It would be really cool if they paid homage to it by using that song in some way. I'm sure they could update the song a little just to make it fit with the new SSE and the new SSE score.
