OK...so the best fried fish at WDW was discussed at length, but what about broiled, sauteed and grilled options? Deep fried is great and all, but sometimes I want a really nice piece of fish that plays on the natural flavors/strengths of that particular fish. I just have never noticed much discussion in the way of stand out dishes in this area...so where/what really good non-deep fried fish have you had at WDW?

Oh...and in honor of the thread title (gotta skip to about 1:05)...

What about raw? Or freshly caught from Seven Seas Lagoon?

I have had some decent seafood items at Cape May and Coral Reef, but I feel a little guilty eating fish while staring at a fish tank. And yes, I totally agree, a great broiled, grilled, blackened or sauteed fish is far tastier (and healthier) than your typical fish and chips. I love a wonderfully cooked piece of salmon.

I've had some of the potato wrapped Snapper at FF, a piece of the wood planked salmon at Artist and I think the pan-seared Grouper (or similar fish) at Citricos. Very tasty! But still, the Fish and Chips stand at Epcot is up there though! :)

It's hard to say, because the best fish dishes I've had at Disney World are the ones that change regularly -- daily, even. The Dancing Fish at bluezoo, the whole fish at Kouzzina, and the Chef's Special Thunder at Flying Fish are things I'll usually go for, but it all depends on what fish they have that night.

The risotto was good too... As you can see by the spoonful already taken out before I could get a picture taken. Oops :)

OK- the raw part I could do, but not so sure about the Seven Seas Lagoon. ;)

We ate at Coral Reef back in '98 and the fish guilt was a bit of an issue. Although, I used to have a large tank at home and never felt any remorse about eating fishy friends in front of them. :D I had wanted to try Cape May, so maybe it will make the list at some point down the road.

The potato wrapped snapper sounds AWESOME!!! For whatever reason, I love salmon raw or smoked but find it inedible when cooked. I know- crazy ;) Grouper on the other hand is a big fave and Citrico's is at the top of my list of places to try. Plus, it's a pretty common FL fish so keeping it fresh and in stock is fairly easy.

Those all sound really good, but also true that fish dishes do tend to change since they're often limited to what's fresh/available.

    Looks very tasty!!! :)

A couple years ago my adventurous eater son ordered the sustainable fish at the Kona Cafe, it was mahi-mahi that night and prepared perfectly. My husband is NOT a fish eater and even he liked it.

    Love the Sesame Street clip!

I had a horrible piece of fish at San Angel last trip. It had all the makings of being kept warm for way too long.

The sauteed salmon over julienne vegetables at Brown Derby are amazing. The fish at Garden Grill, althoug I don't recall what kind was great, too!

Yuck Poohy No. I thought Disney Chef's were capable of preparing what their executive chefs placed on their menu, obviously their forte has very limited, specific talent.

Must say it looked pretty. Anywhere else besides Disney I would have sent it back, Mom of a CM with reservations coming back to him, not really a viable option.

I love grouper, and you are right, they are common in Florida (I have had some great grouper in Tampa) but they are being severly overfished - so that is the "fish guilt" I have when I eat them. I try not to eat them too often because of their declining numbers. I know they are farming them now, but I don't know to what extent.

As for good fish dishes at WDW, the Cedar Planked Copper River Salmon at Artist Point is very good. This is not your normal salmon. It is wild caught salmon from the Copper River in Alaska. It is only available for a few weeks out of the year, and AP is one of the few places on the East Coast that gets a regular shipment every year.

I forgot about the Garden Grill. They do a nice job too. The first time we ate there, almost ten years ago, they were serving blackened catfish. So delish!

Oh how quickly I forget! We had fish at Garden Grill back in November and I think it was the only thing we got 2nds and 3rds of. :)

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE Frank! :D Yea- I'll be singing that all night, but that's A-OK with me!

I have a college friends who is pushing hard for us to try Fulton's. I would also really like to try Blue Zoo- I mean, I can't see how we could go wrong with Todd English- but it's definitely one I could see making a kid free meal- so definitely a little more planning there.

Agreed...my dad has complained about the dwindling populations. He got behind the Ban the Nets movement in the early 90s (although, not sure how that impacted Grouper as they usually require bottom fishing), but like so many other fish populations- some of it came too late and the commercial draw is still often to great and lucrative to reverse the problem. It's been a while since they lived FL Gulf coast, but those were nice days when we'd come back from a morning of casual fishing with grouper for dinner. I had heard a lot of optimism with grouper farming though. They are fairly hearty fish that breed well in captivity...at least compared to other saltwater fish, so there is hope on that front.

Artist Point is also high on my list for our next possible mini trip since I can get a cake from my preferred WDW bakery there...so that's definitely an option. Thanks for the suggestion!
