Does anyone have any pictures of the headless horseman that rides before MNSSH party? If you do, could you be so kind as to post them?
Thank you!

not the best picture in the world.....he fooled me, started out real fast, then slowed down. So I was a little to far away when I snapped the picture and then he was past before the camera was ready again.

Its announced over the PA when he runs. Its gnerally 15 before , or was the last time i went to MNSSHP.

FOr those looking for a good picture, i recommend on MSUSA or anywhere that there is a lot of light. Unless you've got a good camera/lens combo, i recommend panning with the horse.

It depends on where you are. He starts out maybe 5 minutes before the parade starts. But since he moves so much faster than the parade, by the time he is down main street he has almost a 30 minute lead on the parade.

When you hear "Ride of the Valkeryes" that's when he is comming out (Which still confuses me as a musical choice, but whatever)

When we were at MNSSHP last week, the horse kinda walked through the hub and down main st. The cast member in front of my family turned and said "Sometimes we have issues with our horse". She went on to explain that on another night, the horse got turned around and had to be helped out to get on the right path.

These are all great photos, but what they don't show (mostly because the horese is trotting in most of the photos) is that when the horse picks up the pace and canters (I won't use the word 'gallop' as the horse doesn't go that fast), sparks fly from his hoofs due to flint being applied to the metal horse shoes. It adds another level of spookiness to the overall effect.

Also - the horse is HUGE. They use the same horse year after year as he knows the way. The rider's view is obscured by the costume, so it's mostly up to the horse to know where to go. Of course, they have to train new horses, which is what happened in the post above.

Not to be a nitpicker, but I saw the Headless Horseman's ride twice Sunday night and never saw any sparks fly from his hooves. I'm not saying they don't - just that if you don't know about it, you might not notice them. :)

The gravediggers' shovels - I did see sparks fly from them as they scraped them on the pavement, and it was very cool to behold! :king:
