It depends on how big the candy is I'm handing out, but I normally hand out 2 or 3 pieces. If it's small stuff like Smarties and hard candies or caramel chews, I'll give out 3 but if it's bigger stuff like fun size candy bars, I'll usually give one of those with 1 other smaller candy.

I start with 2 - but as it starts getting late (especially if Halloween is a school night like this year) I start giving handfulls to cut down on leftovers.

I start with 3 and give out less over time. Mainly because the younger kids usually show up early and the 17 year old not dressed up shows up later at night. Plus I welcome the leftover candy so toward the end of the night I start to preserve a reserve of it for myself.

That's kinda the way I feel, but the thought of being "Tricked" because of a piece of candy also crosses my mind!

we give out full size bars (no not giving you all my address ) so we only do one. And for those older kids with no custome..I will tell them to hit the road unless they are with a small child. And come to my house a secon time.......beacuse we gave you a full size bar......

Yes, well, if you would stop frequenting those fancy Deluxe Resorts and put up a tent in Fort Wilderness instead, perhaps you could sink your cash into a couple of heavily armed guards the way I do. Nothing says "scat kids" like 250lb men carrying automatic weapons. Perhaps then you could enjoy an evening out with your spouse as the two of you dip pieces of fruit into melted chocolate while teleconferencing with your lawyer regarding the impending lawsuits filed against you by your neighbors.

We do the same thing. I actually found out that we spend less giving out the full size bars as the keeper of the candy (ie my wife) tends to be a bit heavy handed when we have the fun size stuff.

we give out the fun sized candy bars...so usually 2 pieces per person.

Except...I totally play favorites. I'm like Rachel from friends when the little girl tells her she loves her and she says "oh honey take the whole thing"

If you're dressed in something totally cute Disney (not a boring princess) or you come as Darth Vader...you'll probs get a handful of candy from me. :D

I don't think my family's ever given out candy at our house for Halloween... we always would go around to see my younger cousins in their outfits before they would go out Trick or Treating, and then by the time we got home there'd be no one left to come by.

But I like the candy bar idea. :slurp:

I'll have to keep that in mind!!! I'll also have to keep in mind not to take a swig of coffee as your posts are loading.

(And the fruit in melted chocolate sounds HEAVENLY)!

Why at the end of the night I plan on prepping the bowl to look like I'm running low and have to give out less as a result. :drevil:

At least that is my plan. This is my first Halloween where I get to hand out candy in my own place and since it on a Monday it is the first Halloween in several years where there will be no party to run to that excuses me from being home for the older night visitors.
