Seriously? A meet and greet?! I did not know that that was the rumor. I thought it was going to be used for a ride of some sort. What a wasted opportunity if true.

lol ya. For that little expansion pad the rumor is a meet and greet. The Captain Coaster Is rumored to be going the current Hollywood backlot or the current bus drop off area.

if they were to expand into the back area of TOT anyone curious as to how they would create the pathways?

I'm sure one of the entrances into that area would be the road coming from Carsland that exists already.

Of course there would have to be another entrance that does not consist of cutting thru FFF.
Would tuck and roll be removed so that FFF became smaller with just flicks, the lady bug ride and Heinrich?
Would it be a smart idea to extend the trolley track a bit and push back the maintenance building a few yards east and push the stop a few yards south of where it is?
Or

Better yet, reconfigure the store and exit halls of the attraction. The existing store can be gutted and turned into a covered walkway that has openings on the north side and also south side. The store can be relocated so that it is placed behind the tower and the exit hallways redirected to that side.

This covered walkway/mall can also contain a small merchandise area that captures guests that are walkway thru and not riding the ride.

Not sure if it's possible without knowing how the store fits within the structure of the building in conjunction to the elevators and I know there is some equipment in the back but maybe someone knows the layout of the building

Guardians of the Galaxy is known for its rock'n 70's/80's soundtrack. They totally need to use this song on the new overlay. Unfortunately Disney executives are not that smart.

Despite what you'd think, one-off events like these are not big money makers for the company. Hard to believe, I know, but there are people within Disney tasked with putting on cool events for hardcore fans and when you factor in all the costs involved with staff, food, security, and everything else involved with keeping the park open after hours they're probably lucky if they break even. It's more fun to be cynical though, I know. :)

Disney has put on events like this at Disneyland before without charging a dime.

Regarding the last part of your post, believe it or not, some of us WANT to like the decisions that come from Disney. Who wants to be disappointed all the time?

Of course there would have to be another entrance that does not consist of cutting thru FFF.

Assuming FFF survives the expansion.

On a serious note, do you really think Bob is involved in these types of decisions? Seems like he's be big picture stuff, not some dessert party they are having one night for three hours.

One of the consistent things I've read about Iger's management style is that he hands complete control of Disney's various divisions to the division heads. This is in stark contrast to the way Eisner, who was a notorious meddler. It's unlikely that Iger is even aware that there are parties being planned for ToT, let alone directing people to organize them.

As someone who does this sort of thing for a living I can attest to the fact that $95 per person for a dessert buffet, live entertainment, open bar and all the support required to keep a section of the park operating after hours (as you noted) for a relatively few fans is not out of line. Would I pay it? No, but it's not making anyone at Disney any richer, and it seems like a bargain compared to the absurd $300 fee they were charging for the Jungle Cruise Safari Breakfasts a year ago.

This is in stark contrast to the way Eisner ran the company, who was a notorious meddler. This is correct. Iger does not get overly involved in any parks projects unless it's something he's personally interested in. You can count the projects he's personally interested in on one hand:

- Shanghai Disneyland
- Star Wars Land

Everything else about the division is being decided by Chapek and his small army of execs.

The edict for upcharges - events, services, etc - is from Chapek. Chapek himself may not even be aware of the Jan 1 TOT party, but it's under his directive it and events like it are being cooked up.
