Fastpass combined with Early arrival

We plan on arriving early at all the parks each day we visit. Queues for rides would be significantly quiet at park opening times right? I was thinking of doing the ‘big’ rides first thing, so that I can choose my fast passes for other attractions later. Is this a good method of doing things? Or do you recommend booking fast pass for the ‘big’ attractions regardless? I didn’t want to double up, for example, we ride 7 dwarves mine train, and then say I had a fastpass booked for it an hour later. (Unless we really liked the ride to do twice).

Which rides would you say are fastpass MUSTS (for each park)?

Park opening will have short lines compared to say, 2 in the afternoon, but pretty much everyone around you is also heading to the big rides as well. We like to double up on rides but would still book a FP for the headliners because you never know what could happen. Rides could be down, you could be stuck in behind a tour group, etc. Plus, a lot of less popular rides and "tier 2" rides really don't need a FP.
