Trip Report Fairytales Do Come True...

Well friends, we've returned from a magical, rainy, pixie dust filled trip that will NEVER be topped in my book. :) I have so much to share with you that I simply couldn't wait any longer! The first post is a little word-heavy, but I promise the rest of the report will have LOTS of pictures!

Here's my PTR if you'd like to read it!

Here we go! :joyfull:

Tuesday, 6/6

We had a 4pm flight out of Pittsburgh so fortunately didn't have to rush around much the morning that we left. We did some last minute packing and cleaning before loading everything up and heading to drop Tink off at my parents' house. She spent the first 4 days there and the last 4 days with Dylan's mom (and her wiener dog boyfriend :angelic:).

It's never easy leaving this sweet little baby. :( She knew something was up! Fortunately she was a good girl all week and had lots of fun with her grandmas! ;)

Disney here we come!!!!! :joyfull:
IMG_0050.JPG

We were on the road a few minutes after 1pm and it didn't take long for me to take over Dylan's Pandora with the Disney station. :p We arrived at 3pm and parking was a nightmare! We were starting to really cut it close and I was stressing. We went to check our bags and were informed that our flight was delayed until 7:30pm due to weather. It was extremely frustrating to be delayed, but it was a blessing in disguise because we were so short on time. So much for having time to do something on arrival day. :(

We went to TGI Friday's for some snacks. Dylan had pretzels and I had French Onion Soup. I was dreaming about BOG soup. :hungry: It was fine, nothing spectacular! But it filled our tummies and held us over until we got to Orlando.
IMG_0052.JPG

After our long delay, we finally boarded our flight and took off right on time at 7:30pm.

fullsizeoutput_3640.jpeg

Let me just preface the next part of my report by saying we literally had the BEST flight crew ever! They were so much fun!

The flight attendants went through the typical safety speech but when they were done, one came back over the intercom and said, "I've been asked what to do if you have more than one child. Which one should you put the mask on first? You put it on the one who has the most earning potential OR the one who's going to change your diapers in the years to come. Because that's coming." :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

When we started our descent into Orlando, the same flight attendant came back on and sang our landing directions to the tune of "She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain." Then, another flight attendant came on and sang a farewell song to the tune of "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah." I wish I would have recorded them so I could remember the words. They were HILARIOUS! I love Southwest. :)

We finally landed at 9:30pm and headed to ME. Dylan stopped for some McDonalds in the food court on the way, lol. My mom bought me a Belle MagicBand for Christmas and I had called the day before to get it activated because it wasn't letting me do it myself. Well, it still wasn't working when I scanned it at the ME counter. :cautious: Fortunately, I had thrown my band for this trip in my carry on so scanned it for the time being.

Being that we landed close to 10pm, I wasn't sure about whether or not ME would get our luggage for us. The CM at the counter said we were fine and they would get it. It made me a little nervous, but we took her word for it.
IMG_0054.JPG

We boarded a boring Mears bus at 10:10 and pulled out a few minutes later. The welcome video was broken so we watched Brave instead. :(
IMG_0055.JPG

We arrived home at 10:45pm! :joyfull: This is the best I could do, lol.
IMG_0056.JPG

We went to the front desk to get my MagicBand fixed which only took a few minutes. I also never received my "room ready" text so had to figure out where we were staying. We were in the Hoops Hotel section! I took these pictures later in the week since it was dark when we arrived. :)

I had requested a first floor room, thinking it would be nice to not have to walk up and down steps or ride the elevator. It ended up being pretty noisy with all the people walking by. We're both heavy sleepers and even more so because we were always exhausted at the end of the day, so it wasn't a huge deal. But I just thought it was worth mentioning for those of you who are light sleepers or have little ones!

We stopped in the food court for a snack and our mugs, as we were on the dining plan. We ate our snacks in our room and then hopped into bed!

I woke up at 3:30am and we still didn't have our luggage. There was a message on the phone that was left at 1am saying our luggage was there.. to call when we needed it and they would bring it to the room. I went back to sleep and called when we got up at 6:30am. I was on hold for 15 minutes and when they answered, was told luggage services didn't open until 7am. :cautious: Then why did you leave me a message saying to call when I wanted it delivered? Our luggage arrived a few minutes after 7am so it ended up being fine.

Next up, Magic Kingdom!!!! :joyfull:

I watched the ride video too!! It looks so awesome! I was sitting on my couch SCREAMING at my phone because the live feed kept stopping to buffer. I was going insane! At least that's the impression I gave Dylan.:hilarious: I think I'm most excited for the Mickey and Minnie ride honestly. I love those mice! :inlove:

We were at AK the next day and a guy in line behind us started telling another party about all of the announcements made... Dylan looks at me and goes "I already know about everything he's saying because my fiancé made me watch."

@prfctlyximprct and @blgauger - you guys talking about your significant others & the D23 updates is making me laugh so much :D I told my boyfriend, Daniel, who is in Mexico right now on vacation that he wasn't allowed to text me during the live stream because I didn't want my phone to slow down, and after it ended I texted him all the announcements and he literally had NO idea what anything I wrote meant :hilarious: In fact, he responded, "Wow is that stuff good?"

Poor Daniel, Joe, and Dylan... having to deal with our obsession!

Hahaha! Joe thinks I'm insane. He literally has no idea what I'm talking about either.. :p I was so hyped about the Tron ride.. and I was screaming that the Speedway was being saved and he just looked at me like I have 5 heads. Not to mention this all occurred at a Beauty and the Beast themed seven year old birthday party. Wanna know the biggest Disney fan there? Yep, ME. :)

Daniel hasn't been since he was like 3, so he's even more out of the loop!! I tell him all the time how I miss the smell of a certain ride or how I'm craving a certain Disney snack, and he gets sooooo confused!! It makes me laugh, but I'll be sure he understands what I'm talking about when we go in January!

LMAO!! I totally understand you! My boyfriend has never been to Disney, and my sister and I talk about Mickey bars and turkey legs... The looks on his face are priceless! (especially with the turkey legs, we don´t eat turkey in my country, you will never see one at the grocery store, turkey ham is all you will find here) Well, we´re going in September and I know he loves smoked everything, he loves big pieces of meat, I don´t know if he will love Disney, but oh those turkey legs... he will be addicted for sure!!

I definitely know how you feel!! There's a certain brownie I've gotten for the past few years at AK & I told him it's an absolute must get, and he was like "Isn't it just a brownie?" He doesn't get it :hilarious:

I was literally the exact same way with my boyfriend when all those announcements were coming out! Except on Monday morning when HE was the one to text ME and say that he couldn't wait to go back to Disney once Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens because it was going to be awesome. This is the first time that he has EVER been the one to bring up a Disney trip willingly. I think I'm converting him!

Woohoo!! I already told Daniel that my life goal is to visit every Disney park & he agreed... so I think I have a keeper :inlove:

At least we have each other ladies! The guys can continue to think we're nuts.. That's why we have the forums! ;)

I love when Dylan brings up Disney on his own.. It's been happening more and more often which convinces me that I've been at least somewhat successful in ,y conversion efforts! :p

He better get used to it! You are pretty much living in Disney's backyard.

Cody typically rolls his eyes when I mention anything Disney parks related so I think I have more work to do :cautious: He does love golf though, so maybe I can steal your tactic and take him golfing next time we're there. That could soften him to the idea of taking more trips :joyfull:

The move has certainly helped! He told me that he likes going for a few hours in the evening and just doing a few things with lower crowd levels. I have to say I enjoy it, too. :)

Golf certainly helped to segue from a non-Disney lover to a somewhat-Disney lover. :p

My computer is fixed!! Let's get back to it. :joyfull:

Saturday, 6/10 cont.

Following our dinner at Sanaa, we caught a bus back to AK to enjoy the nightlife! We walked into the park just as the Tree of Life Awakens was happening, so we stopped to watch.

It was actually a neat show.. very simple, but I think the atmosphere helped to make it great. :) We made our way to Dinoland and got in the 10 minute standby line for Primeval Whirl. I opened the app after getting in line to see that the wait time had changed to 20 minutes. :cautious: Needless to say, we got back out of line.

Dinoland gets a lot of negativity, but it was a really fun place to be at night! There was fun music playing and CM's leading a dance party. Call me crazy, but I actually kind of like this area. :p

We had a FP+ for Everest, so we walked back to Asia. I love this ride at night - so much more exciting and you can't beat the views!
UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_532f.jpg

After our disco with the Yeti, we went to find a seat for Rivers of Light. It was about 10pm at that point and the theater was essentially empty. We sat down for a few minutes, but decided we wanted drinks and popcorn for the show. Do you think that we could find a popcorn stand? We walked around for far too long searching.. CM's pointed us in the wrong direction more than once. Eventually we found a cart that sold it, but had to wait for them to make fresh popcorn because what they had was "old." :cautious: We FINALLY returned to the theater.. it had filled up quite a bit, but we were sill able to find good seats.

Here we go!

Thoughts on Rivers of Light... we LOVED it! Dylan and I both agreed that it was extremely well done and unique to anything else you can find at Disney. The music, the floats, the water and fire features, the projections... it all just worked so well together and was a real treat for the eyes. Pictures will not do this show justice (particularly iPhone pictures taken by myself ), so I can't recommend seeing it in person enough! This was the icing that AK needed on its cake.

We exited the theater and turned left toward Asia.. Everest had a posted wait time of 25 minutes, so we got in line. We ended up only waiting 10!
UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_5334.jpg

We paused for a nighttime Tree of Life picture before returning to the land of Na'vi for late night EMH. I didn't think the ToL could be any more beautiful than it is in the daytime. :inlove:

I think Dinoland is totally fun at night! On NYE night 2015 (when all the other parks were packed) I went with my wife and her parents and we had a blast!

PS I thought your RoL photos were quite nice for iPhone photos! I'm sure I couldn't do any better. :p

I didn't take many pictures of Pandora because I knew they wouldn't do it justice and wanted to be able to observe with my eyes rather than my camera. Nighttime here is absolutely stunning. I don't care what the haters say. :p We LOVE the atmosphere in Pandora and though it's small, the theming is phenomenal. It's been years since I've watched the movie so truthfully I don't remember much about it, but I still appreciated the area and its beauty.

We decided to wait standby for Na'vi River Journey (just a few families behind @wdisney9000 :p). It was posted at 25 minutes and we waited about 30. I only took one picture... this thing is seriously as awesome as everybody says. It's so hard to believe that it's not a real person sitting there! The song is so strange... but so peaceful at the same time. I don't know how to explain it. I thought that I hated it but it's kind of addicting. :hilarious:
UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_51ea.jpg

The ride is neat and is very well done. It really immerses you into the world of the Na'vi. However, I wouldn't recommend waiting very long for it. I think that wait times for this will plummet once the novelty wears off. It's just your basic boat ride with really cool scenery. ;)

We exited our boat and Dylan asked if we could ride Flight of Passage again. The wait time was posted at 105 minutes, but we loved it enough to wait. And truthfully, this ride is worth it. We hopped in line and admired the queue for 55 minutes before boarding our banshee. :D It was just as good the second time and is by far our favorite ride in all of Disney!
UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_51ec.jpg

We headed out after FOP and got back to our room at 1:45am. After an extremely long day, we showered and collapsed into bed!

Glad I'm not alone! It just had such a fun party vibe.. I can't imagine what it felt like on NYE!

Aww thank you! You're sweet. :) I envy the awesome photographers on this forum.. I wish I could do what they do! But my iPhone pictures will have to suffice. :p

So happy you are back to writing! I was starting to go through this TR again because I needed some Disney pictures!! :D

Lol! Lots of pictures coming your way. ;)
