I was in the US Army and was honorably discharged due to medical reasons. I want to be a cop or police officer in the law enforcement field one day. I decided to then apply at disney for a security position as I had a lady friend at the time who worked in entertainment there a few years ago, and I was actually hired on a couple years ago.
Not that I was unhappy, and I actually thought I was doing fine, but they constantly said my performance was lackluster and I wasn't following safety protocols which I would be aghast to find out about, and the third time I was given an coaching which was about a few months ago, I was given an opportunity to apply for another position in which I agreed to do only because I am also going through school and I could use the money.
I then worked in Tomorrowland foods and I sometimes would rarely take ODV shifts, which in the beginning I adapted myself to like, but I never noticed how the food and beverage workers really work for their money dealing with tough situations.
Getting to the root of it, I was terminated on Monday after a problem that happened two weeks ago. Basically I was gonna be working the cotton candy carts, a half hour before my shift I was backstage smoking a cigarette and a coworker whom before my relationship with wasn't so great, was giving me a lecture and a public service announcement that I shouldn't smoke if I'm going to be dealing with kids. I then told him to basically F himself and mind his business as backstage I'm allowed to smoke I would never do in it costume on stage. I said the exact word no filter. He then went into our scheduling room and spoke to one of the leads on shift. Before I went on stage I was called in by the lead and they asked if I said what I said to him and I said I did, and then they told me to go home and they would investigate this issue. I was then asked to come in Monday to which I was terminated for violent and threatening acts and behavior.
So you think I should fight this, or just accept it? Because I see lots of people on this forum who talk about getting their job back by speaking with the human resources union. Also should I put Disney as a reference when I go through police academy or in my future plans?
