thanks to WDW-LUVR, ive decided to make my friend a disney survival kit to get her excited for our upcoming trip!
What would you want in YOUR disney survival kit?
Im thinking: autograph book, pen, sunscreen, glow sticks (cheaper to take them with us, and at the dollar store here they have neat mickey mouse ear headbands), and the vacation planning dvd..

I did this for my son's teacher last year, and it was so much fun! I also started a thread asking for suggestions and got a ton of great ideas...here is the thread:

And here is a pic of the finished product:

First of all happymom that is the darn cutest thing I've ever seen - what a nice gift!!!

I'm probably going to suggest stuff that has already been mentioned but here goes (by the way, I'm doing one of these for my parents)...

1) Travel sunscreen
2) Travel handsantizer (I prefer the foaming kind)
3) Tissues
4) Baby wipes
5) Notepad (Disney themed, of course!)
6) New luggage tags (nice bright ones that can be easily spotted)
7) Their favorite granola bars and/or other snacks
8) Glow sticks (these are more to entertain the kids)
9) Rain ponchos
10) Travel umbrella
11) Travel waterproof wallet (for their bit of cash, fastpasses, etc.)
12) Little fan

and that's all I can think of at the moment, I'm sure I'll add more as time goes on...

Thanks! Any hardware store will sell you empty paint cans for usually just a couple of dollars. They are GREAT to use as gifts. I also made a "Summer Survival Kit" for the teacher assistant (these were their end of year gifts).
To decorate it, go to a hobby or craft store and buy somthing called sticky tape....it is double sided tape that is VERY strong. You need the strong stuff to ensure that the paper will stay on the can. You can also get the smaller paint cans for smaller gifts.
Here is a pic of the summer survival kit I made:

In the scrapbook area at wal-mart, I saw the cans, but they are Plastic.

something is wrong here...

Actually this kit isnt even for a kid, its for a 22 year old lol. but i love glow sticks and i can get them cheaper here at a dollar store then in the parks. Plus i was able to get mickey mouse ear glow sticks for my last trips, i had a lot of people ask me where i got them!

While waiting for the parade at night or any other night time show....that way when the cm's roll their carts by you and your kids freak out because they want one of the cool glowing toys they are selling, you can pull out your glow sticks you brought from home and save a few bucks, and the kids are happy. It is HARD to wait for a parade with a toddler, trust me!! Those glow sticks come in handy.

Add a cheap over the door shoe holder to keep toiletries organized (got one at the $1 store) Don't underestimate the power of a glade air freshener:ROFLOL:

Thank you! I was going to comment but you already said it!

I don't want to be mean but just b/c you're at WDW doesn't mean that toddlers/preschoolers etc. are going to be happy every minute of the day. My son is also afraid of the dark and the glowsticks helped him on rides that had dark spots in them. My children are very well behaved children (if I do say so myself) but even so they need something while waiting in a line-up or for a parade.

Please don't be so quick to jump to conclusions based on one statement!

You should get some of the customized maps from disney.com - they're free! I just got mine in the mail, they're vintage looking & I think pretty cool to take with you on a trip :)
