In recent years, Disney has been retooling it's brand with new adaptations of popular stories. Take for instance last summer's cinematic hit, Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie. This unique film put a new twist on the popular villain, giving her origin more depth as never seen before.
Then you have the upcoming live-action Beauty & The Beast remake, which is rumored to focus more heavily on the Beast's personal story. Then there's always the live-action Cinderella coming out this year, as well as the obscure Tim Burton take on the popular Alice In Wonderland story. Through the years, Disney has been no stranger to creative remakes, spin-offs, and continuations to some of it's most beloved stories & characters.
What most people don't know, however, are the vast number of planned sequels, remakes, & spin-offs which never got green-lit & made it into production. For whatever reason, these projects never saw the light of day, and sadly we as the movie-going public will never get to witness their glory. Here are just a few of the many cancelled projects...
Disney Sequels, Remakes, & Spin-Offs That Never Made It
1). Sherri Poppins
An original spin-off of the 1964 musical masterpiece. Sherri is the younger sister of Mary Poppins, and unlike her older sibling, Sherri has absolutely no magical or musical talents whatsoever. Her day-to-day routine consists of getting up, going to work, coming home, and so on.
While life may be a "jolly holiday" with Mary....with Sherri, it's just another day. Enjoy this 2.5-hour long non-musical (or magical) motion picture of pure mediocrity.
2). Old Yeller 2: Yeller's Revenge
Travis only thought he shot Yeller at the end of the first film. But Yeller is back, and he has a bone (pun intended) to pick with the Coates family. (Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino).
3). The Chronicles Of Wiggins
Gov. Ratcliffe's skinny, wimpy sidekick from Pocahontas FINALLY gets the spin-off movie fans have been demanding all these years!
4). Cool Runnings 2: Cooler Runningser
What's more fun than going on an Olympic slapstick adventure with the Jamaican bobsled team? Why, going on it again, of course!
5). Amos Slade - The Early Years
Before Amos was out hunting a fox with the assistance of a hound, he first had to learn to shoot. This film takes a look back at the early years of Disney's most uninteresting villain as he learns to hunt, trap, skin, &..... okay, I'm already bored to tears with this one. Moving along...
6). The Mighty Ducks 4: Now It's Just Getting Sad
Speaking of...is Emilio Estevez even still alive?
7). LeFou - The Untold Story
Gaston's bumbling 'lil helper finally gets his own full-length motion picture.
8). Frollo
The story of a young man in Paris & his slow conversion to Catholicism.
All for now...
