Dinner at Disney Springs

We're heading to WDW a day early before our cruise and I'd like to do a special dinner for the family. We're not going into the parks but will visit Disney Springs. This is the first time we've been there since the name change and I'm not familiar with the new restaurants.
We have 3 adults (one a very plain eater) and 2 kids (10,12). I was looking at The Boathouse. I thought my nephew (10) may like to see the Amphicars. Can anyone share their experience? Would this be good for the kids or should we look into the typical character meal at a resort?

I can only speak to our experiences at the Disney Springs restaurants. We have eaten at all of them at this point and enjoy The Boathouse very much! Having said that, we are only two adults with no children and are not picky or plain eaters.

With that, here is my top-10 list (sit down only) in order at Disney Springs:

1. The Boathouse
1a. Fultons Crabhouse (reserving judgement when it opens as Paddle Fish)
2. Morimoto's
3. Homecoming Kitchen
4. STK
5. Raglan Road
6. Portobello
7. House of Blues
8. Splitsville
9. Wolf Gang Puck - Grand Cafe
10. Rainforest Cafe
