Cruise Carry On Size

My first cruise leaves in 18 days (3 night Bahamian on the Dream- so excited!) and I've been scrolling through Google for tips. I've seen a lot of people recommend that you keep bathing suits and first days necessities in a carry on bag, but I was wondering if DCL has a size limit? I don't trust airlines with my bags so I prefer to just pack light and carry on everything, and since I'll be leaving for the airport after school, I'll have everything I need in a bigger-than-normal backpack (http://store.apple.com/us/product/HC681VC/A/herschel-supply-co-little-america-backpack?) as well as a purse. Will I be ok bringing both items on the ship as carry on or will they make me check the backpack? Thanks!

If it will fit through the scanner at security, you will be able to carry it on! Have a great trip!
