NEW DELHI, India (Business Standard) -- The US-based Coca-Cola Company is looking at the possibility of launching the Walt Disney branded flavoured milk in India over the next six months.

The new products are under development in India, and, according to sources, will be launched only by 2004.

The new products could be an addition to the milk products which Coca-Cola has already launched in countries such as the US, Mexico and Japan.

The milk-based products have been launched in association with Switzerland-headquartered Nestle.

The Walt Disney business has been launched through group company Minute Maid Company.

While the company will try to target under-12 years of age consumers with its milk-based category products and juices, there is also an initiative to target young adults from 13 to 24.

The company’s efforts to offer a range of milk-based beverages is a step forward with this month’s introduction of Nestle Choglit in the US.

Nestle Choglit, which has around 16 per cent skimmed milk fortified with vitamins A and D, marks Coca-Cola’s first milk-based beverage in the US.

The company already markets several brands across the globe and is testing others in this promising product category.

Choglit will be available in the US through convenience stores, petroleum/food-mart stores, secondary schools, colleges, small supermarkets, delis and local grocery stores.

Coca-Cola has already started creating a presence with milk-based products in other parts of the world.

In April, it launched Mickey Aventuras & reg flavored milk in Mexico as part of Minute Maid’s alliance with The Walt Disney Company. The milk drink is available in chocolate, strawberry and banana chocolate flavours.

Last year, Coca-Cola Japan launched a pair of yogurt beverages, Cal-King and Natua.

“Meanwhile, we are studying the launch of additional milk-based products for geographic markets including Europe, North America and India,” said the company.
