Caribbean Beach "reviews"

Looks like we need to move resorts as Coronado is out of rooms (10/3-10/12) and we have family wanting to stay in the same resort as us. We have never stayed at a mod only values. How is Caribbean Beach vs The Values and other Mods?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Its been a LONG time since we have stayed there, so my opinion is very out dated. We did not care for it. In the mod range we like Port Orleans better. Riverside is larger of the 2 and has great grounds. French Quarter is smaller and quite. But the way I look at it is Disney how can you really go wrong! Good luck and hope you able to find what you need!!

I've never stayed there myself, but make sure to take note of the fact that CBR is the only mod that offers only double (not queen-sized) beds, if you have any big or tall folks in your party. For that reason, my 6'+ husband has always steered us toward the other mods. Our most recent stay was at PORS (and we toured French Quarter while we were there) and I'd highly recommend either of the Port Orleans resorts.

You can find some reviews of varying lengths here. http://land.allears.net/reviewpost/showproduct.php?product=12&cat=3

My 2 cents, as someone who's never stayed there - it's the moderate resort I'd choose last. I'm not a big fan of the Caribbean theme, so take that with a grain of salt. Caribbean is currently the only mod resort that doesn't have queen sized beds - only double/full beds or a single king. All of the mods also offer rooms with a single king bed. If you're only a party of 2 and can get a king bed, I suppose it wouldn't be so bad, but if you're a party of 3 or 4 the beds might get kinda cramped especially if at least one person sharing the bed is bigger or heavier or taller or broader than average. Of course, the Value have smaller beds too so you might not have an issue with them, but I think for the money you spend on a mod, they should all have no smaller than queen sized beds.

Out of all the mods I've only ever stayed at Riverside, which I enjoyed quite a bit. Nice rooms, plenty of quiet pools (and in the 3 times I stayed there I was always right next to one), the main pool is really nice, boat rides to DtD are pleasant. Having written that, like you, the Coronado would be the mod I'd prefer to stay were I to stay in a mod, followed by French Quarter just to try something new. But if they were both sold out and my options were Riverside or Caribbean, I'd choose Riverside again.

EDIT: Weather_Lady stole some of my review-thunder.

IMHO CBR is the worst of the moderate resorts. Stayed there 3 times and the only good part of it was that I was on vacation. Not impressed with the resort.

It is hard for me to believe the CSR is completely booked at 5 months out. They may have inventory on hold through agencies like AAA or Expedia. Either try again in a few weeks or try booking through an agent.

I just stayed in January and I loved it. The rooms were very roomy and the walk to the main area wasn't so bad. But we did get a building close to the main area. I did not feel it was outdated and the pool and splash pad were awesome.

We did rent one of those bikes for the four of us and we rode around the resort. We went off track to see the pirate rooms which were far! We got in trouble too cause apparently we weren't supposed to take the bridge over to that part of the resort.

My advice, ask for a room near everything and don't fall for the pirate rooms. They are cool but they are so far, very far from everything and I can't imagine paying more to be far away from everything.

One of the things I loved about this resort was sitting by the beach and watching the fireworks from Epcot.

One more note - my sister and her family routinely go to WDW like I do with my family. For a very long time, Caribbean was their resort of choice. They even had a room of choice and were often able to get that room. A few years ago, they had less of a budget and switched to Pop, and preferred it over Caribbean. And since then they've been trying other resorts and haven't looked back. Their last trip was at VAK (their daughter just got married and she and her new husband bought DVC points), and I think she's now gone to the Dark Side and won't even be satisfied in a moderate or value anymore.

We need time for things to happen.
It sucks. stay elsewhere. anywhere.

In all seriousness I've spoke to the suckiness that is CBR in length. You can do a search on "CBR?" and probably find a comment or two from me.

If you're looking to save a buck do a value instead.
If you wan't to do the moderate resort thing, do anything BUT the CBR -
My suggestion (as MANY around here will or have told you -- Stay at one of the 2 PO resorts, both tops in the moderate category, for different reasons.

We really liked CBR when we were there last year, and I would definitely go back, but that said, we'd like to try something new next time around.

We really liked the food court and the pools. Didn't love the long walks to the food court, but at the same time, it was a beautiful walk.

The rooms were fine and we didn't mind the beds at all.

We've been to CBR twice (2009 and 2012) and loved it both times. If you ask for a room in Jamaica or Aruba, it is a short walk over the footbridge to the food court with a view of the whole resort. We love the Caribbean theme with the steel drum music and hammocks on the "beach." The pool is great. If double beds vs queen beds are a deal-breaker for you, stay elsewhere. I will note that we had a rental car both times so I cannot comment on the bus system.

We've also stayed at ASMovies and found that ok, and have stayed at Pop and enjoyed that a lot (but less than CBR). I do want to try POFQ or POR on our next trip just to try something new.

We just stayed there last month and loved it. I love the Caribbean theme and it has the best pool area of the mods--multiple slides and a water play structure that the kids loved. We enjoyed the food court and I will point out that we got a preferred room in Martinique, so we were close to the main building and pool and our bus stop was usually the first pick up, so we almost never stood. It's a very pretty resort with beautiful vegetation and we loved just walking around--very relaxing. The evening movies and the view of IllumiNations were nice, too, as we had 14-month olds and they couldn't make it out for 9 pm or 10 pm fireworks.

Yes, the beds are smaller. That is really my only complaint. I really don't feel that it is "too big" of a resort, but we like walking. If they got queen beds here, as is rumored, I would think this is one of the best resorts for the money. The pool area really is phenomenal.

As for the constant complaints about the buses, I don't get it. Even if you have to go to all 7 stops, that doesn't take too long and it's better service than most of the deluxes get with having to visit multiple DIFFERENT resorts (which takes forever with the transit time inbetween and the entry gates). I thought bus service here was faster than at Wilderness Lodge. It's slower than Pop but the trade-off is that you don't have to wait in a queue line in the sun to get on the 4th bus that comes by. You sit on a bench under a roof and calmly get on your bus. No value resort pandemonium, as I call it.

By the way, I have stayed at all 4 mods.

Read the original post. Coronado was out of available rooms for their dates.
Love cbr have stayed there twice and each time it was great. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. Love the fact each island has a quiet pool which suited our 5 yr old. The main pool is brillantly themed. The bus service isn't perfect but what is. The views are fantastic and its a beautiful resort to walk around. Everyone has their own opinion it seems to be one of those resorts that you either loveor hate . Why dont you check out trip advisior for other travellers photos. Wherever you choose hope you have a great trip.

I CAN'T check Trip Advisor - It falls into the Reader-Submitted trap that every review is "My kids loved it! 5*" and "A moldy rathole! 1*"
I'd rather check veteran Disney fans who've been to other Disney resorts and can compare qualitatively.

(Especially Caribbean Beach, which tends to suffer from outsider non-fan hyperbole more than most.)
