When I went to DCA this summer, A Bug's Land was my least favorite land.
It was well themed and everything, it just seemed... a bit... plasticky? I guess that's not really the right word; I don't know how to describe it.
I don't think the movie A Bug's Life even deserves a whole land to itself (I don't think Cars does either, but I will offer an exception since that land was terrific).
Anyway, back on topic. DCA 1.0 had a wonderful Golden Gate Bridge entrance that the monorail crossed over.
I think the Imagineers were right to take that away for version 2.0. Buena Vista Street certainly looks 100 times better.
However, I think California Adventure needs a bit of San Francisco back!
PRESENTING...
The Bay Area
The replacement for A Bug's Land will be called The Bay Area. It will be themed after San Francisco and the surrounding natural beauty.
MAP KEY
Golden Gate Bridge
Redwood Forest
Eucalyptus Forest
City Facades (actually yellow, but yellow text doesn't show up)
Sea Lions
Cable Cars
Escape from Alcatraz
Unfortunately, I didn't have much space to work with. I managed, however, to come up with the above map.
Golden Gate Bridge
No more monorail crossing , but still the same old Golden Gate. Dramatic music will play in the BGM as you cross under.
Redwood and Eucalyptus Forests
The 2 famous trees of Northern California! On the left you will find the redwoods.
And on the right, the eucalyptuses!
One of DCA's most peaceful spots, this is just a place to relax. Benches are provided. Perfect nap spot for toddlers!
Building Facades
These facades are the perfect backdrop for a perfect land. Not visible from Hollywood Land, they are somewhat 3 dimensional and are plastered along the south side of the Tower of Terror.
Cable Cars
The Cable Cars are a roller coaster based on the iconic SF streetcars.
Up and down through the hills of the city, past Coit Tower and down Lombard Street (see picture below), these cable cars run at a top speed of over 50 mph. Hey, it's a lot faster than Space Mountain!
Lombard Street, the crookedest street in the world:
Oh, and this will be the facade for the Cable Cars:
Escape from Alcatraz
Join the Warden and his crew of police members as you try to prevent an escape by some of the most dangerous criminals of all time! This will be a fast paced LPS dark ride based on the 1946 Battle of Alcatraz, but it will remove most of the violent elements to make it suitable for all ages. The facade will look like the instantly recognizable cell house on Alcatraz Island.
Sea Lions
Animatronic creatures similar to the sea lions that lounge around Pier 39.
