So the first good images of the latest section of the AoA to be nearing completion have been posted on the web. This will be the last section of 'phase 1' to open I am pretty sure. Not entirely convinced they have saved the best for last. But it is early yet. :)

I'm pretty sure that the best was not saved for last. Nemo is pretty incredible and they have the best location in regards to the entrance as well as the largest pool on property. Little Mermaid opens a month from today, too.

The Nemo pool is excellent. Mermaid, you would think, would have a nice pool also. But all in all, I am most impressed with the Cars overlay. Best of the themed overlays for the value resorts yet. IMO.

Hopefully Disney is just getting started with the AoA Resort.

From what I see, I love everything. I like the look and feel of the Lion King section the best.

I didn't know that this was only Phase I. What/where is Phase II going? Are they getting rid of Pop Century?

I found the Lion King section to be really underwhelming. Whoever came up with the idea for a playground based around the scariest part of the movie without so much as a single slide and "do not climb" signs posted everywhere has no business working for Disney.

Thank goodness the Nemo area is a short walk away. Mermaid looks pretty cool. Hope the pool is nice.

The curvy palms are interesting. Other than that... not entirely impressed thus far after seeing Nemo & Cars in person. Saw some of Lion King but not enough to make a judgement call. This is the first I've seen any of Mermaid. I'm sure they have a lot of stuff to do/add in a month. I'll keep my comments until I see it in completion. I do enjoy the lights though. Very shipwreck-esque!

I'm right there with you. Watched a few of the videos posted recently by some of the Dis-Media outlets and outside of the figures, it didn't feel all that "Lion King" to me outside. As far as the rooms are concerned... I love the bathrooms but the rooms themselves were, well, underwhelming. The carpet looks like just normal foliage themed carpet (something you'd see at a chain hotel) and I don't quite get why the walls are just plain boring white. They could've painted them the color of a sunset and it would've made a gigantic difference in how the rooms felt.

Oddly enough, my son loved what he saw and said he wants to stay there instead of the Cars suites when we go. I think he was suffering from temporary insanity however because he has never watched the Lion King from beginning to end, has had no interest in anything Lion King themed at any point in his life, and is a Cars NUT! LOL! :D

That's funny. I don't especially like Cars. But they did a bang-up job on the Cars section. I plan to walk over there and check it out even though I'm not a fan of the franchise. It's just undeniably cool.

We wanted to stay at a Nemo suite but so far the Lion King suites are the only ones where we could get free dining (maybe Cars too, I didn't ask because the girls just flat out don't like Cars). I agree that the bathrooms are the stand-out in the Lion King rooms. My girls don't really like Lion King either (too sad) but they like animals, so the jungle theme is acceptable to them.

On the whole, I like the look of the LK rooms okay. But not as well as the Nemo and Cars rooms. And the exterior really is weak compared to the other two. It feels like they ran out of money in this section.

Again, that "playground" is mind bogglingly awful.

I have to agree that from all the photo's I've seen the Lion King seems to be the least interesting to me. It has so much potential and it feels like they just threw that section together at the last minute. Nemo, Cars, & Mermaid all look great to me. I have to say I'm really liking the Mermaid section the best so far (but a close call to cars section). The Nemo pool though trumps all the other pools IMO.

The sign says not to climb on anything. But there is nothing else to do other than go through a little tunnel. Our local Disney Store has more to do.

I now know what we will kicked out of Disney for. The first thing my 5 and 3 year old are going to want to do is climb those structures with me. And I'm all for it. :D

And why will we climb them? Because they are there! LOL.

Obviously, Disney knows kids will climb on this stuff or they wouldn't puts signs everywhere. The signs are likely just a CYA measure so Disney won't be legally responsible when kids fall.

I won't be able to get my girls anywhere near the scary hyenas and the elephant carcass. But I hope your kids have fun!

Cars looks the best out of all of them. Period.

Cars is my least favorite Pixar movie (I skipped Cars 2) and I have to agree that it looks pretty great. Although the pool and play areas put Nemo in first for me. I am very pleasantly suprised by the Cars area though. I suspect Mermaid is going to come in third for me. Still way ahead of Lion King though.

Cars is also my least favorite pixar movie. I just love what they have done with the walk ways in that area. Out own mini carsland. Very impressive. I would like to see a recent picture of the Nemo pool. Do you by chance have a link? :)

I showed my oldest daughter a picture of the Cars area because I thought it was cool enough to impress her even though she doesn't like Cars. She has seen all kinds of stuff on the Disney Channel for Carsland, so she assumed that's what this was. She asked if we could ride the Cars ride. I had to explain the difference.

Here's some shots of the Nemo pool. Not sure how recent they are:
