Animal Kingdom "secret path"

I found the path and I was just confronted by a cm and she escorted me away from the path. She told me that if security had found me they would have interrogated me?? Wow I'm not a terrorist. Be careful wondering around.

If you want a path that almost noone ever walks on even though it *kinda* is marked on the park map, plus there's a LOT more scenery along it, take a stroll along the original first half of the ITTBAB queue. (One end is marked on the map, but the path disappears beind the title "Discovery Island" on the map)

You can enter at either end. Either across from Pizzafari, or exit out the *back* of the ITTBAB FastPass machine area. You get to see a lot along the way, including viewing angles of the Tree of Life that most people don't see. (You get pretty close to the front of the Tree). There's also additional carved animals along the pathway, as well as a view from the back of the kangaroo display area. Here's some pics from June:

How could people miss this pathway entrance?

This is what the other end looks like, walking out the back of the ITTBAB FastPass machine area (the pathway is to the left of the rope, to the right it either the FastPass return or the Standby queue for ITTBAB):

This is as close you can get to the front of the Tree of Life:

Some animals you see along the path:

And a little "grotto" underneath a waterfall:

As I walked the path and followed the stream away from the waterfall, I realized just how extensive the waterways are on Discovery Island. This waterfall flows into a stream, which eventually runs into a pond near the FastPass machines. The water then flows out from there, under the main walkway, and runs into the pool in the Flame Tree seating area. From here the water eventually flows out and into Discovery River. It's almost as if the Tree of Life is providing water to the whole park. (there's a waterfall off the back of the Tree that flows into the River)

Used this one twice last trip, never saw another guest. My favorite part was the waterfall, so pretty!

Hello! I'm so glad this thread is back I have many pictures of the path. To the OP what up my man? The most recent pics I have are from Sept of 2012 I'll post the when I get home and dig them out. When I was on the path 2 different cms approached me. The 1st one I kind of just shoved off, saying I'm just looking at the path. The 2nd cm insisted I leave because there are gators back there..lol.. Anyway to clear everything up, the path exit is right on the backhand right hand..lol..side of the smoking section..I'll post later, before and after pics..

I wish they would just reopen the path, add some animal exhibits or even just some statues along it with some CM placed back there to regulate and keep Guest from enacting in bad behavior then call it another attraction. Boom!

Yeah, my last pass by the 'path' was in January of 2013 and it was overgrown and quite obscure at that time.
I traversed it quite a few times over the years, and it was a delight, but last year the state of it seemed to make it clear that it is being phased away.
The trail was so filled in with overgrown foliage that it would not have been comfortable to walk through there.
You would indeed feel like a 'trespasser' in a sense.

A pity, as it was a fun little 'discovery' for those looking for it...and the stepping stones across the stream were a novelty.

I was there only two weeks ago and from what I saw not much has changed.
The path is slowly disappearing due to overgrowth but after taking only a few steps into the brush and standing tall I was able to see the chair still resting near the tree.

You know where this path is?

Yes I do! As mitchk mentioned above it can be found in the smoking area just off the path between Africa and Asia, take a look at his pictures for a visual aid.

So is it still accessible? Also will you get in trouble for being there?

Yes it is accessible though has become overgrown over the years since the Mouse would rather that Guest no longer venture back there. In the past when it was open to the public Guests were caught doing some not so appropriate things back there, plus a few Guests slipped into the water walking across the stepping stones which in some cases may have been injured causing the Mouse to discontinue the use of this neat little secret. Due to these reasons your probably better off not venturing back there. I don't think your would be asked to leave the park but you will certainly be reprimanded for your curiosity.

And there is a waterfall back there? I'm dying to attempt checking this out. I wonder when the last time anybody went back there...
