Hey all you Pin Traders!
I thought I would start a thread where we could all share our tips and tricks on affordable ways to Pin trade.

Here are some of my tip:

a) Party City sells Disney themed (& other characters & teams) lanyards statring at $0.99

b) Look for deals on Ebay that can start at $0.99 per pin for random lots. No you can't choose what you get but you can certainly trade for what you want in the parks

Can't wait to hear you tips and tricks! :)

If you're local, I always go to the Disney Character Warehouse at Premium Outlets. Their stock of pins are always changing, and sometimes they'll have .99 pin sales. Most of the time the pins are marked down from theme park prices, and you can pick up a few cheapies. They had a ton of Vinylmation 3D pins for $3.00 a couple months ago. And They'll even have complete sets for decent prices.

Great tip! I also do this even when I am in Las Vegas where they too have a huge Disney Outlet and a large selection of pins.

Yeah I love the Ebay lots and really, the best thing is to have a bunch of pins you DON'T want so it's a no brainer to trade for stuff. I used to have an extensive collection, but it's less now. Plan to do some major trading in Sept when I go back for the first time since I worked there.

Sometimes traders will go to the DTD Marketplace Pin Station and trade, many of them have doubles that they're more than happy to trade for anything that they are not specificially looking for.

Im building lanyards for each of my nieces and nephews for their first trip this coming august, and pin lots are great! Ive scored 3 for under 50 bucks on ebay all from trusted sellers, and all in great shape, they will all have a good selection to trade with the cast members! Great idea!

Oh awesome I'm glad we could help! To be honest i didn't think anyone was even paying attention to this : (

Like you I too am making a lanyard for my nephew, I figure while he is in Epcot and the adults are having their fun he too can participate in an activity geared to him and further enjoy his experience in the park. I know Epcot can be a little uninteresting to the small ones with all of the Edutainment and unfortunatley there are only so many rides geared to them so any distraction is a good one especially when its affordable, buying souvenirs in every country and pavilion could get very expensive so pin trading is a great option.

I agree, and that was my thought too really, was to give them something to do along with Perry, as EPCOT is got to be my favorite park, even if i cant have the dreamfinder.... and with the prices in the parks for lanyards etc, with 3 of them to buy for building them pretrip with the possible options to theme them to their favorite things One likes Princesses, another Tinkerbell, and one that loves anything Pixar, Ive been fairly lucky with the lots thus far. Just cant wait to share my happy place with them!

Thats a wonderful surprise!
If this is their first time I bet with this added activity they are going to have a blast!
Don't forget that you can get lanyards at PartyCity for as low as $.99 and the last time I was there they had
Cars, Fab Five, Princesses, and Tink

Were trying to get them as excited as we were when we were there, were thinking little surprises from now to august for birthdays and major holidays, and get them a gift certificate. keep them feeling Disney like all year long while they wait!

Be wary about online buying. I bought from a dealer on Amazon and got tons of duplicates/duds and not many great pins.

I suppose it's good if you want a large number of pins but the only true way of getting the pins you want is via trading.

Exactly, and for the little ones they are ok with starting with ones they dont really want, as thats the joy of trading for what they do want. I have been lucky to find lots that allow me to select what i might be looking for, and if they have it they put it in my lot :)

When i'm in the parks I buy the pin sets and use them to trade for pins I want from cast members. Buying the sets is cheaper than buying pins individually.

We're leaving for WDW in less than 2 months.. I want to buy some pins for my girls (7-8yrs old) to have some fun trading.

Im noticing the Ebay sellers have many lots avail and have sold many lots.. but not sure who to choose.

For those that have used Ebay to buy a lot of pins who was the seller? Im not wanting to get a lot full of fakes.

I ended up with 20 counterfeits when buying a 50 pin lot on eBay.

... how can you tell the difference between a fake and a real one? Is it really, strikingly obvious? Or doesnt have the Disney logo... ?

I bought my very first pin while at WDW earlier this month. A Polynesian Resort pin (where we stayed) and now I kinda want a few more...
