Do any adults or any of you collect pins? I see alot of kids collecting and trading.... But I kind of want to too....

I do and have been since it started when I was a kid. It's an expensive hobby though and thousands of dollars later I have started to slow down. The pins today don't have the value and trading quality like they used to.

I am - sort of . . .

I don't really have any interest in trading. When we're at WDW, I tend to pick up pins that catch my eye (if they don't cost too much) and make a point to buy one that features the resort we're staying in. And maybe something with the year on it. I've ebayed (if that's a word) several, concentrating on certain sets.

Yes, we collect pins but, we also have no interest in trading. If we see something we like we buy them.

I really need to organize the collection. :dazzle:

I am an adult and trade pins, have been doing so for quite a while and it adds to my Disney experience. It is something that I look forward to doing on every trip. You should try it, but like the other DisneyInsider said it can get expensive .... it can become addictive. Buy a starter set and get started, set yourself a dollar limit that you will spend on any pins you might see that you want to purchase so you don't overdo. Have fun with it.

My whole family does. I look for certain themes like years or anniversaries. I also like monorails. My kids love to trade with cast members. My wife got into it after she saw how much fun we were having. It can get expensive though.

I collect them, but I don't trade. Each one I purchase has a special meaning. I switch up wearing them on my ID at work. My son and his wife love to purchase and trade pins.

I've been collecting since 1999... Have both Belle and Jasmine collections, and I keep some spare pins around just for trading purposes. It definitely adds to the experience. :)

I do! It actually started as a joke - on our first trip, my husband didn't know what it was and kept saying he felt like all these people were in a secret society that he didn't know about. So I got him a starter kit and put it in his stocking at Christmas, and on our next trip, he was hooked! On that same trip, I started getting interested and got myself a lanyard. My faves are ones that are based on attractions, Star Wars, or villians. We will usually buy a couple on each trip as well as trading - something special, like a resort-specific one. We have a corkboard where we display them. Since we haven't been doing it for too long, we don't have a huge collection. Yet. ;)

I love pin collecting and trading and I buy most of my pins off Amazon ( I wouldn't recommend it). I try to look for my favorite characters and attractions and build lanyards around them.

It's both fun and addicting, but costly.

I would recommend attending the yearly Pin Celebration event, now called Trade Celebration (since they're including vinylmations trading). You'll see an overwhelming number of adults doing trading and pin collecting.

The next even is theme "Mickey's Circus" and it will be held this coming Sept.

Speaking of trading, if you are in the Chicagoland area, there is a very active Disney pin trading community that meets once a month at Downers Grove Fuddruckers. The Windy City Pin Traders (WCPT) is a group of friendly folks who share interest in Disney and pins.

This gives me the opportunity to let everyone in the Chicago area know that the Disney's Doorway to Dream store at Woodfield Mall will be having their own pin-trading meet over 3 different Saturdays, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The dates are:

Saturday, July 14
Saturday, July 21
Saturday, July 28

I plan on being there for the July 14 and July 28 session, but will not be there on July 21 since that coincides with the WCPT pin trading meet. The mailings that we received from DTD mentioned that tables will be set up for pin traders, and cast members will be trading off their cast lanyards, and also from their own private trading pin collections.
