Pre-Trip A Year of Disney

I have lived within 2 hours of Disney World since I was 5 years old. My love of all things Disney started at 4 when my parents took me on an 11 day trip to the World and ever since then I have been hooked! I cannot count the number of times I have been over my lifetime and for most of the last 4 years I have been an annual pass holder. BUT this year will be DIFFERENT!
Although I have always loved Disney as an adult I have never really given my all to the Disney lifestyle. I always stayed off property and ate counter service or off property. I have never taken a tour or been to star wars weekends (even though I am a fan). So this year my goal is to….Well my goal is to do it ALL!
Our passes started December 12th 2014 and we went for the day. We ate at via Napoli and wandered the world before we headed over to HS for some ToT and to draw at the animation academy (one of my favorite activities). It was cold but a truly magical day!
Although I cheated and went once in December our true Year of Disney begins 1-23-15. Me and my SO will be staying 3 nights at the Art of Animation hotel. I have been planning this trip for the last 6 months and even for a long time Disney fan like myself will be full of SOOO many FIRSTS. This will be the first time as an adult I am staying on property! I should also mention I have never done rope drop and I plan to go for it everyday!

MY PLANS
Wednesday 1-21
Arrival day- we plan to be at rope drop at HS! We have ADRs for lunch at 50’s Prime time (first time there!). A few other first we plan on doing are the Beauty and the Beast Show and the little mermaid show thing. We have FP+ for TSM, ToT and StarTours. I also really want to catch Indiana Jones again since it might now be there very much longer. That Night we plan to wander DTD. I am interested to see the changes and eat some food at Splitsville.
Thursday 1-22
ADRs for lunch at Yak & Yeti (never been) and I plan to see the lion king and flight of wonder shows which will also be new to me. FP+ for Safari, Everest and Dinosaur. At Night we are heading to EPCOT. I have never seen illuminations so I am looking forward to that.

Friday 1-23
Magic Kingdom day! 2 new things I want to try are Mickey’s Philharmagic & Barnstomer (can you ride this without kids??). FP+ for Thunder Mountain, SpaceMountain, and SDMT. We have dinner ADRs for O’hana (never been- see the trend here lol) and there are EMH for EPCOT and I have always wanted to do that, I wonder how long for test track and soarin’?
Saturday 1-24
Check out day :( Lunch ADRs for Saana (very excited to try) and a few hours a magic kingdom playing some sorcerers of magic kingdom before heading home. FP+ for haunted mansion, jungle cruise, and pirates.

After this trip I am in the process of planning so many more things for this year! Some of my goals:
  1. Go to star wars weekend- we are planning for the 1st weekend. I already have ADRs for the sci-fi breakfast and the dinner at Hollywood and Vine.
  2. Do the keys to the kingdom tour- I have always wanted to do this!
  3. Stay at Animal Kingdom lodge- a dream of mine
  4. Go to mnsshp and mvmcp: I went a few years ago to the Halloween one and I cannot wait to share it will my SO.

Only 3 days AWAY! I cannot wait.
My only issue is I have NO idea what to pack. It is looking like cold weather at night and in the morning and rain all day Friday.

We have FP+ for Thunder and SDMT on Friday (the rainy day) if it is raining will they shut down these rides? Should I change my fastpasses??

So exciting for so many firsts!! Please make sure you don't miss the Lion King Show, it's one of my favorites!! I wouldn't change your FP+ yet. I'd wait to see what the weather is at the time of your FP+ and if the weather is bad at that time then you can change your FP+ at the last minute

You have chosen some very good first time events to accomplish. All of the ADR's and FP+ are top priority for my family. Have a wonderful time. I've been to Star Wars weekend and that is a must do for anyone that is a fan. I only wish I lived close enough to do MNSSHP and MVMCP. On my bucket list. Will be watching for the trip report.

Our Trip went PERFECTLY and I hope to have a trip report started shortly!!!

I am feeling some post Disney blues since returning on Saturday. I guess I am lucky since my next big trip is only 106 days away and I plan to have a couple of 1 day trips in soon too!

I think the worst part is that I came back from Disney with a cold! It never seems to fail I always get sick after Disney!
