Hey Everyone!
We've already been home from our trip for over two months, but I've FINALLY downloaded all of my photos onto my laptop and am ready to relive my trip now that I'm going through Disney withdraw. The only thing keeping me sane is that I just found out that we'll be going back in December 2017 (and possibly for a long weekend trip in May - but that's just a very small possibility!).
The cast of our trip consists of me, my boyfriend, our 5 year old daughter, and a very last minute addition of our two year old niece.
We started our journey on Friday, September 23rd.
My daughter had been sick off and on the whole week so we were really nervous, we had a 17+ hour drive ahead of us and finally on Thursday her doctor confirmed that she had strep and every other symptom she had was from it, so we started her on antibiotics immediately and luckily she was much better by Friday morning. She did get to stay home with daddy for the day on Friday since she didn't start her antibiotics until the afternoon on Thursday and couldn't go to school, so we got a bit earlier of a start then I thought we would.
We left around 3pm and we live just about an hour outside of Philadelphia. Our goal was to get to Fayetteville, NC which is where we would be staying for the night. We stopped once in Maryland right outside of Baltimore to have a potty break and grab some dinner and hit some traffic around D.C. (which we knew would happen), but aside from that we only had to stop twice more, once for a bathroom break and another so boyfriend and I could switch and I would drive for the end of the trip (he'd already driven over 7 hours before I forced him to let me take a turn). We finally got to Fayetteville around midnight and the Courtyard we stayed in was wonderful, found our room quickly and the girls were passed out as soon as their heads hit their pillows.
This is from our stop outside of Baltimore, Maryland. My daughter is really such a good big cousin and it's obvious that they both just adore each other.
Both of the girls were up around 8:30am and ready to start the day. So boyfriend and I both took showers, got them ready, and let them run around outside the hotel while we cleaned up the car a bit and repacked the bags we'd needed to take out for our stop.
In their matching Finding Dory shirts.
We were on the road around 10am and our hope was to get to Disney around 6pm, hoping that it'd still be light outside when we got there.
Nope. We ended up getting suckered into stopping at South of the Border (boyfriend saw the sombrero and thought it was hysterical and somewhere his parents would love and wanted to take pictures), so we stopped for lunch and ended up wandering around a bit.
After that we were back on the road. As you can see, my niece's Finding Dory shirt didn't last very long. SOMEONE (boyfriend) decided it was a good idea to give her a chocolate fudge brownie.
We then drove for another 8 million years until we finally reached Florida! When we got close to Orlando, our niece finally started to have a meltdown (I was honestly surprised she lasted as long as she did) so we stopped at Walmart to grab some snacks and last minute stuff. By the time we got back into the car and were getting onto Disney property it was after 9pm.
We ended up telling the girls in the car cause my daughter saw the Disney sign so we couldn't hold it in anymore. Our initial plan was to stop at the Walmart that's really close to Disney and let them pick out something Disney that they can wear for the next day, but we ended up having to stop at a different Walmart in Orlando and they had very little Disney products.
We finally arrived!!!
Helping mommy check us into our home for the week - Disney's All Star Sports!
Then we unloaded the car and headed to bed. We had a BIG day ahead of us on Sunday, our full day at the Magic Kingdom!
I'll continue with our adventures tomorrow.
