Trip Report A Poly Girl in a GF World *COMPLETED*

*Gasp!* :jawdrop:

Is it true? Tuvalu, the die-hard Polynesian fan, spent 4 recent nights at a different deluxe resort? Didn't she already have three magical stays at the Poly this year? Didn't she take her name from her favorite longhouse at the Poly? Isn't this blasphemy? (Actually it isn't, but you get the point.)

Yep, it's true. Like many of you who have broken loyal ties to a political party (don't worry, I'm not gonna go there) Woody and I decided to try another option for our Food and Wine Festival excursion.

In anticipation of the question, "Why didn't you stay at an Epcot resort?" I will say, "Cause I like the MK resorts better." :D

Tuvalu and Woody taking a trip to WDW specifically for F&W is a bit ironic, since:
1) We are not foodies and
2) We are not big drinkers
But as we approach our sunset years, we are determined to keep ourselves open to new experiences and embrace change (even when we don't like it.)

And really, who doesn't like to eat?

Now back to the resort. The Grand Floridian. Disney's Flagship resort. The resort people call "too stuffy." Or "I could never be comfortable there." Or "The Four Seasons is a much better resort for the price."

Well, Woody and I were quite comfortable, despite a couple of irritating incidents to be revealed later. We had no problem walking around in our Target and Kohl's clothes. And we got a room rate that wouldn't have paid for the janitor's closet at the Four Seasons. (Okay, a slight exaggeration.)

I was reading threads on this site as we waited to board the plane. I noticed a post by @MissM who said that disneystore.com was selling the 45th Anniversary shirts, buy one get one half off. Sure enough, there was the red tee I'd been searching for! I immediately placed an order.
Yay! I'm glad you were able to take advantage of the offer and get a shirt as well!

At the airport, Woody's boarding pass was rejected and he had to leave the security line. o_O He said he would meet me at the gate. I was so flustered by this that I inadvertently boarded the wrong fonorail to the gate ~ and when I realized it and returned to the terminal, the TSA official made me go back through security AGAIN!

Woody and I ended up on the same fonorail to the correct gate.

While I am happy to have the shirt, I think it is WRONG that the MK did not have it on site (when obviously there were so many available that they were offered online for a reduced price!) Can I #BlameShanghai? At the very least I can call #BS!!!!!

Goodbye, Orlando. I'll be back soon.

I would never have gotten away with that type of behavior when I was 8. My grandma and mom were from the generation that said "I'll give you something to cry about" and was not above making a scene and causing me public humiliation. I learned very early that when I was in public, I better behave and "act right" because I didn't like everyone around me seeing me get spanked LOL. Now I would be a nightmare in the privacy of our own home but never ever in public :angelic:

I was from a different generation as well. But I have never been a fan of the hand to the butt. I prefer to take other action. Removal of privileges, but this would have to wait until we got home. If something needed to be done at the time, it would be a time out. Time out you say. How would that work in public you ask? They may be great kids now, but that took some 'guidance' in getting there. They have received time outs in stores and even church. Yes, church. It was not like I would just put them there. Warnings would be issued. When they didn't head the warnings, time out they would go. Nothing like sitting at the back of the church by the doors for everyone to watch. My little angels :angelic::angelic::angelic::angelic: haven't had a public time out in some time. A few at home, but for the most part they are great kids and do behave.

Spanking actually never did anything to curb my bad behavior. When we were out, it was more the fear of public embarrassment that kept me in check because I knew both of them would actually carry out their threats - especially my grandmother! I was actually the child that couldn't be corrected LOL - at least they never found the one thing that would work. I loved time out because I preferred to be by myself. I was never that into toys so I didn't care about those being taken away. I didn't watch much television so that was out. They would spank me but I finally told either my Mom or Grandma at the age of 9 or so that it was actually hurting them more than it was hurting me because my butt became numb years ago LOL. So after that (very true) statement, they were out of ideas. They would never use my books as punishment or the exercise outside bc they thought that was more important than my bad behavior I guess. I was definitely a handful :) My poor family lol.
